Events & Adventures is a scam (****** club). I joined the club 11/28 after the "invitation" to join this exclusive club, but it appears they let any and all interested people join. I agreed to a 2 year membership and paid half upfront. I was told the ****** club has about 700+ young professionals of diverse backgrounds looking to meet other professionals who are active. They said that some of the events were included in the membership but that others would have additional cost $30-75 monthly. I was told by the sales rep I was a perfect match for the group and it would be a great way to meet like minded individuals. The contract had a 3 day cancellation window, which makes no sense because I could not attend an event that quickly. As I was given access to the full social calendar I realized the events, times, locations, would not fit or be easily accessible with my work schedule. I called, emailed, and explained this was not a good fit and if all the information was clearly stated during the interview I would not have joined. I have not attended a single event with this group and they refuse to do anything to fix this. E&A charge people different prices for the same service. I am paying $2975 for a 2 year membership and their best resolution offer is for me to pay $1855 for 6 months instead. They claim to have not misled me, that they could be flexible and work with my schedule, while the ************** leader explicitly told the group the importance of showing up and being on time. The same day I was accepted into the ************** my concern grew. Many of the group members are 45+ some even older, with grown children. Many events are attended by mostly females, not the even 50/50 that was described. Pictures are posted after each event and I am shocked about how different the group is compared to what was sold to me by the sales rep across the country. I have been communicating with E&A for almost a month, not using their services, and have been refused a refund.

************************ signed up with Events and Adventures on November 28th, 2022.  She had reached out December 6th, 2022 about canceling her membership. Per the agreement that was signed by ************************ there is a three day cancel window:

We do have different lengths of memberships. During the interview process the Membership Representative gave ****** the different options and let her choose which one worked best for her.  When we heard of her dissatisfaction we did review the calendar with ****** to point out that the majority of our events were in the evening at a time that would work with her current schedule. The event calendar also changes every month.  We pulled our Event Manager into the conversation to try and help schedule more events in the later evening to help accommodate ******* schedule as well as point her in the direction of the events with our younger members. Every member in ****** is not necessarily on ********* so you cant judge the demographic based on the private group page. We also have new members signing up every day.  We have gone above and beyond for ******; we highly recommend she try the events.

I am rejecting this response because:1. The cost of a shorter membership is MORE expensive than my original per month contract. 2. No one has mentioned events for younger members, and everyone is supposed to be young so why should their be different types of events? 3. This response has no actual resolution. There are numerous other complaints around the same topics so clearly this is an actual problem with the company and their messaging and advertisement. I shouldnt be paying full price if I first cant attend all events due to work, and two, based on which events cater to young professionals. That makes my event options much more limited which is not what I signed up for, I agreed to a full calendar of options that clearly was misleading. The ************** posts pictures from every event and most members in attendance, so while the members may not be all there, photo evidence of the people attending is.

      Sincerely,

      *********************************

They promise high quality candidates to date, but in my experience that is not the case. Don't get sucked in by the advertisements. They are very misleading. And don't be fooled by the interview and background check. They let anyone into the group as long as they pay the membership fee.I stayed in the club because of the trips. I went on 3 trips that were good but then I think they oversold several trips trying to makeup for lost revenue during COVID. Then they were trying to figure out how to get people off of the trips when everything opened back up. In my experience, they withheld vaccination requirements for a trip I was scheduled to go on until 10 days before the trip. By then it was to late to complete the required vaccinations to go to ******. Events and Adventures kept ALL of my money. $4,000 Then they told DISCOVER that I canceled out of the trip. I did not cancel, they withheld vaccination requirements until it was to late to preform required vaccinations. According to DISCOVER the Events and Adventures cancellation policy basically makes everything non-refundable unless the company is willing to give a refund. Which, in my experience and in talking to other members who have also had similar experiences with Events and Adventures the company never gives refunds. Even if Events and Adventures themselves cancel the trip! So I lost $4,000 and did not get to go on my dream vacation. Beware of this company!!

I initiated contact with Events and Adventures, based on what was posted on their website: The only Rules: You must be *********************************** legally filed for divorce. You must pass a background check. I was excited and wanted to start getting out to meet people based on the one factor that was crucial to me, that everyone must pass a background check, for my safety. On 10/20/22 I had a two hour zoom with *****, the sales rep and I explained to him that I was not interested in dating, only interested in the activity events but that my safety is a huge priority. ***** reassured me that they carefully choose who they let join, and even asked me if I would be willing to have a background check which I said, "absolutely". I was only provided two membership options. A 1 yr or 2 yr and there was only a couple hundred dollar difference so I decided to join based on what ***** told me and paid the initial fee of $500.00 and agreed to pay $133.13 for a 2 year membership for total of $3695. I was told that I could go to the new members event the next day where I could meet ****, who runs the *********** area along with any new members, which I went to. On 11/05/22 was the first event that I signed up for to play pickle ball and when I got there, there was someone there that made me feel completely uncomfortable and in addition, instead of staying there, the group decided to leave and go to another location, downtown ***********. I still didn't have information on a background check. On 11/07/22 I spoke with ***** another sales rep and he said they do not do background checks at all. They only do name searches as they are on the initial zoom calls and will only request a background check if necessary. I was deceived into this membership based on false advertisement and have been trying to cancel it and request a full refund. Also, in trying to provide documentation, I was never provided with a copy of a signed contract, only rcpt of payment of $500.

************ signed up with Events and Adventures on October 20th, 2022 for a two year membership. In the terms of the agreement signed under the Qualifications for Membership it states that we reserve the right to run a background check as needed.  It is not stated anywhere that every single person gets a background check done.  We do run many of these to protect our members.

As for the Pickleball event, we have had multiple employee with Events and Adventures reach out to ************ to get more information and details in regards to the situations that ************ is referring to.  She is refusing to give us any information.  We care about our members greatly and wish she would provide us with this so that we can take the necessary steps to assure nothing will happen again.

************ is currently speaking regularly with our Resolutions Department.  She should continue to speak with them.

I am rejecting this response because:

First of all, as stated in my initial complaint I never received a signed copy of the agreement, so this is the first I have had time to even read through the terms of the agreement.  Under the Qualifications for Membership, they state they reserve the right to run a background check as needed completely conflicts with what is advertised on their website, which I have provided.  It is because of the specific statement claimed on their website that I even made the initial contact.  I was then misled and deceived into believing that I was going to have a background check done.  I was specifically asked if I would be willing to have a background check.  It wasnt a possibly or a maybe or that the company reserves the right to.  And my response back to the representative was absolutely!
Regarding more information about the night of the event, before I went further to accuse the person who made me uncomfortable, I spoke to another representative about the background checks and that is when I was told they were not done at all unless deemed necessary.  He said that representatives just ****** the name while on the zoom call to verify.  This is not the kind of safety I signed up for.  I was completely misled.
The company has said they want to settle by asking me to pay more money.  I have let them know that I signed up on 10/20, only attended a new members meeting and one event, and it still has not even been a month yet.  I was misled and deceived into this membership and have already paid a deposit of $500.00.  The $500 covers more than one month of membership.  I will settle with them for that, but I will not pay anything more for their false advertising.  Thank you so much!!

      Sincerely,

      *******************

Hello - I signed up for the services with Events and Adventures on May 24th, and I contacted ****** (the representative) right away the following Monday morning (May 30th) to cancel due to the extra cost of all the events. When she asked me to sign, she had listed all of the events for the month of June. Not once did she say there were extra fees to attend each event. On Friday night when I had time to review the calendar, I discovered the huge cost in addition to the fee I had already paid. When she reviewed the calendar with me, she did not disclose the fees of these events. She just was selling how many events they would provide. Which is awesome and great, but I would never have signed if I knew that I had to pay additional fees. I do not believe that this was fully disclosed to me. I feel like I was lied to. Plus, I was pushed to sign the agreement, so I could not fully read and review the agreement before I signed. She said if I do not sign that night, I would lose the special pricing. Which I know - my fault. I am unable to attend any of these events. When I signed the agreement, she said the fee I was paying would get me into all the events with the exception of vacations. When I called the main office (after calling ******), they said I was outside the 3-day window to cancel. It was during the weekend, so I also feel this is wrong. I have attached a word document of ALL the extra fees for the events for the first month after I signed up. I am asking help to resolve this issue. I contacted them, and they say I signed the contract which has in small print that I will pay extra fees. Which I thought meant the vacations - not the events.

I am rejecting this response because:

I emailed ****** (Account Rep that had me sign the contact) the Monday after I reviewed the calendar and saw the extra pricing. I signed late on a Tuesday night and reviewed on Friday night. I knew I couldn't email on the weekend, so I waited until Monday.  She said there was nothing that could be done and also never mentioned anything about a 3 day cancellation period when she had me sign the contract on Tuesday night. The only way I discovered that was when I called the office June 7th when I was getting nowhere with ******. I have never attended an event. Even if we could meet halfway, and I could get half of my money back. That is reasonable to me.

Completely misled in the initial interview. The whole first presentation was that it was going to be cheaper than normally going out but what they do not tell you is that almost every event has a fee in addition to the monthly membership fee. They did not mention that you only have 3 days to cancel. I have been reading many of the review and everyone is saying the same thing. i gave it more than 5 chances at events i went to and there was almost no one ever within 10 years of my age and now i am stuck paying it for 2 years when i will never go to another event. terrible business practice which is why their ratings are so low. i even showed up to one event and literally no one else showed up so i immediately left. I dont even care about the money i have already spent i just want the membership cancelled. Even the events i have gone to almost everyone say the same thing!!!

First of all this business should not be open no more and whom ever this account manager they have here in ******* should be fired. I tried canceling many times and they keep saying I cant which is ridiculous and I never used their services canceled within the period but I was calling wrong number and she explained because I have no proof she wont honor it. So they stoked $500 from me and now today Im getting a letter stating Im going into collections when I havent spoken to these folks in months nor have a balance. I seriously need this business to reimburse me my money and file a huge complaint on their account manager here in *******, ** terrible services.

************** contacted us in May stating that she did in fact cancel in that three day window.  We have requested multiple times to receive proof of this cancellation.  She has not been able to provide us this documentation.  The agreement does state that it would need to be a letter postmarked within those three days but weve been trying to work with ************** and would accept any sort of proof of reaching out via email, text, or phone log.  IShe had access to other means of communication to cancel the membership other than a phone call. We have spoken to ************** multiple times and she was aware that her balance was still owed.  If payment isnt received after 90 days the account gets sent to a third party collections agency.  We have held off for ************** well past that 90 days.  She can reach out to our ********************** and set up a payment plan to avoid collections.

I've never agreed and the accountant stated she won't honor a one time courtesy because I could not provide the proof that I canceled withing the limit time. I was first of all texting the wrong number and email and by the time I finally got time to double check why I haven't gotten a response the time had past. The gentlemen who signed me up by the name of **** stated to call her so she can help with the cancellation and he's sorry I was texting the wrong email and number. And I tried to reason with her, I never used the services and I'm a single mom who works grave yard and had family emergency going on left and right and having to pay my bills, which I went into overdraft due to all this inconvenience she said she didn't care and it's a contract. Until I show proof she not going to do anything about it. If she was able to return one of my payment why can't she honor and close the account when she has all the authority. She's being very unfair and very cruel and none of this was ever stated or I would have never of agree to any of this. The gentleman that signed me up never informed me about me not being able to not cancel at all. It was very false advertising and very wrong in how they are treating hard working people. All I asked was to cancel and get my $500 dollar refund. And now she is saying I owe a whole year this was never stated at all to me. When looking at their rating and reviews, I'm not the only person apparently who's being mis told information and treated with such cruelty from this company and there has to be a way to be able to go above the contract this is beyond ridiculous and I'm praying I can get a resolution so I can go about my day and pay my bills. Thank you for your time.

Below is a summary:1. The Events & Adventures buisness misrepresented themselves to me. 2. During the interview, I was told that there would be several events which would be geared towards people in their 20s (see correspondence from ***************************** on 5/21 acknowledging that I was joining the group to meet young people).3. I attended 18 events and there was not one event with anyone in their 20s, ALL of the events included older people.4. I attempted to find out if there were any events that were geared towards people in their 20s and was told that the events were not organized by age.5. I received offensive remarks from event attendees when I told people that I am in my 20s.6. To date, I have paid $1,014.44 ($500 deposit and $514.44, i.e. $128.61 per month beginning 5/21 through 9/23).7. I have tried to resolve this amicably on multiple occasions by reaching out to the original person I spoke with (*****************************), via emails and phone calls.8. I am NOT looking for a refund for the money I have spent.9. I am looking to terminate my agreement and not be required to pay additional money.

We are a singles activities group and do not guarantee the age of the members. We do have plenty of happy members in their mid 20s.  We also have new people joining every day. The types of events normally chosen by younger members are usually different than those chosen by older members, meaning that the events one chooses helps to create a higher than statistical number of people around your age and of similar likes at your events no matter what age you are. There is an Event Manager in each city that is always more than happy to help guide new members to events that attract people around their age group.
There is a three day cancellation policy per the agreement signed by ***************************  He signed up on May 19th, 2022 and did not request to cancel until September 7th, 2022 :

If the member has proof that a letter was mailed by that third business day or correspondence with his rep we are happy to review the documentation.  If he is unable to provide we are more than happy to get him in touch with our event manager to get him out to events that better fit his age range.

I signed up for the ****** Chapter of Events and Adventures on 9/21. The process included a brief questionnaire, conducted via text message, and an interview. I had my interview with ***** on the day I registered. ***** and I had a great conversation that lasted about an hour and a half, after which she offered to waive my monthly fees, and extend my membership for free for another 6 months if I paid for the membership up front. The total cost was $2295, which over the course of 18 months amounted to a little less than $120/month. During the interview, ***** failed to mention their rather draconian cancellation and refund policy, which after reading the reviews and complaints, seems to be part of the scam. If a customer wishes to cancel, in order to receive a refund in full, they have to cancel within 24 hours. After 24 hours, they have three days, and they have to not have attended any events, and they may cancel, but they will be charged a $400 processing fee. After this time period, if a customer is dissatisfied, or just discovers that the service isn't right for them, they are not guaranteed a prorated refund. Events and Adventure just takes their money and runs. It doesn't matter if the customer no longer desires or requires the membership.I discovered this after I started asking myself questions like, "What if this service isn't right for me?" or, "What if I meet someone, and no longer require the service?" Thankfully, I cancelled within the 24 hour period, and I'm going to receive a refund in full. However, even though the company was more than happy to conduct business virtually on the registration end, to cancel membership, they state that they require a mailed copy of the cancellation letter to an address in *******. This is, frankly, ********, and I called them out on it. They acquiesced, and accepted a picture copy of a signed letter.Needless to say, E & A engages in scammy business practices, and provides services in poor faith.

****************** signed up with Events and Adventures September 21st, 2022.  He requested to cancel his membership on September 22nd, 2022.  A full refund will be issued to ****************** as he is within the window of cancellation.  Events and Adventures cancellation policy is directly based on Colorados state consumer laws.  We require all members to sign on their agreement that they understand this cancellation window so there is no confusion on the members part.

I signed up 7/30/2022 and went to 1 event on 8/13/2022 on 8/15/2022 i sent a email to cancel. I feel like its wrong to require only 3 days to cancel without even trying it. No one emailed me back. i decided to try another event and it was a mess and i didn't feel comfortable with any of the members. One guy was extremely drunk and 2 couples were dancing very provocatively. they still want me to pay $ ******* to settle the account. I cannot afford this. they require $500 up front and charge $ 134 a month and then i have to pay at every event we go to. I cannot afford this. I want out i am not even asking for a refund. I highly recommend that no one sign up for this mess. they will mess up your credit. there's more women than men to top it all off.

I interviewed and ended up signing up for Events and Adventures mid month, thinking it would work for me. After 2 weeks and getting the new schedule for the next month I was not able to get to any Events so i sent a letter telling them I would like to cancel per what I read in the contract. I recieved a message back telling me to pay them the full amount for services I NEVER USED. Contract or not it wasn't clear that I could not ever cancel. I paid the amount listed on their contract I would be responsible for, which covered the interview. I had a financial set back a couple of months later and now I'm dealing with health issues and paying money out to save my own life, this dating club is the last thing i am able to do even if i still wanted to be apart of it. It didn't offer a service that worked for my schedule. 3 days is not enough time for someone to decide to take part in the club, especially signing up mid month. Despite this, now I'm truly unable to partake in this company and should not be forced to pay for a service I never used. This company is stealing money from people to make a 100% profit/gain. They are stealing for services never rendered. Where is this money going to? They are threatening to hurt my credit by filing that I'm not paying. What am I paying for if I never recieved a service!? I gave them over $400 more than enough to cover the interview. I will not be paying the $2093 or the $1047 settlement, since this money doesn't cover anything I have purchased or used. I Do not want them to send to credit reporting and hurt my credit either.

**************** signed up with Events and Adventures on February 4th, 2022 with an 18 month membership.  We received her first communication regarding canceling her membership in April of 2022.  Per the membership agreement that was signed she was outside her three day cancellation window:

**************** stated that she could no longer afford the monthly payments that were set forth in the agreement.  We offered to lower the amount to help accommodate the financial hardship to help avoid any collections.  **************** has sense stated that she has a medical condition that is keeping her from attending events.  We have requested **************** to send us a doctors notes stating she is unable to utilize the club.  We do not need any medical information on this letter.  We are waiting on that note to be received to work with **************** on the balance of her account
