We are scheduled for a vacation in maui for the last 2 weeks of August. The fire has destroyed the area we are planning to go. The governor and locals have asked for people to please stay away for now. The resort we are planning to stay at has posted on their site that they are closed for the remainder of August but redweek has not gave us a refund as of yet. They tell us they are "looking into it". I would think that with the devastation and loss of life and property redweek would promptly take care of this but they are saying if power is restored even if we cant get to the resort they will not refund us. I would be very careful booking through this company because it seems they are all about the money and not what's right.

    Hi ****,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We are deeply saddened by the devastating fires in Maui and our team is working as fast as we can to handle each booking cancellation by the check-in date.

However, it's important to understand that we're required to follow the terms of each rental agreement and cannot authorize any refund without the owner's consent, unless the resort is closed.

We will continue to monitor Official communication from the resorts and will be reaching out directly to owners and renters if we learn that their booking is impacted.

I have been using redweek to list my vacation club and to rent them for myself for years. The process is super easy and reliable (assuming you select a unit that is "protected and verified") I have read a few reviews that are angry with redweek because they were scammed. Redweek is very clear about what to look out for and what types of payments to use to protect yourself. It is not their fault if you choose to take a risk and go with a listing that is not protected. If you do want a listing, not protected, you can always ask the person listing the unit to add "protected and verified" to their listing. Tell them you will cover the cost (~$70) if they say NO after that, they are raising a big RED FLAG! find another listing.

I find interactions with with RedWeek to be transparent, cost efficient, and timely. In a business where transactions could "go south" in a hurry RedWeek's tools and owner support processes help to close on rentals within price and time targets.

Used Redweek for the first time. Made the mistake of not picking a protected and verified property so when we arrived at ****************** in *****, we were told the owner changed the name on our reservation. Redweek was no help and allows renters to use their site to defraud people. Shouldnt all listings be protected and verified?

    Hi ****,

We do regret that you had an issue with the rental that you reserved directly with the owner. It's important to understand that we consider these private transactions and generally do not get involved. As a courtesy, we did reach out to the owner who advised that they have provided a refund.

We've noted their account with the details and recommend that you consider our rentals that offer Online Booking in the future. When you book one of our Verified & Protected rentals, we hold the funds until after you check in, to make sure you receive the unit that you reserved.

Thanks for giving RedWeek a try!

We were satisfied with the service we provided from RedWeek up and through the closing of the sale of our timeshare. About a month after all closing was complete, including the legal transfer of the deed of the property, the RedWeek customer service staff (***** and ******) started harrassing ** via e-mail. Evidently, the new owners are anxious to make a reservation for 2023. Since it takes ***** days from closing for the resort to transfer the timeshare to the new owners, the buyers should have been advised that it would be after mid-July (closing was in May) before they could make a reservation for usage for 2023. We were told by the resort that we were no longer owners and should not make a reservation since the unit is no longer ours - and that the new owners should wait until after the transfer is complete. We were told that by doing so, we would be assuming responsibility for the reservation. Even after explaing this to RedWeek, they continue to harrass us, even though they acknowledged that nothing we signed or agreed to included what they are asking us to do. In our opinion, they are doing this to try to pacify the buyers, even though they knew all along the timeframe for the process.

    Hi ******,

We are very sorry to hear that you felt harassed, as that was certainly not our intention.

As we explained, there are two steps in completing change of ownerships when you sell a timeshare.

    1. The deed is recorded into new buyer's name.

    2. The  file (including the new recorded deed) is sent to the resort and the resort will transfer the "ownership" into new buyer's name.

Unfortunately, if the resort doesn't complete the transfer of ownership, regardless if the deed has the new buyer's name, the resort doesn't recognize the buyer as an "owner".
This is what is happening in your case as this step has not been completed.

When we first started working on your file, your timeshare management company was not taking as long to complete the transfer of ownership. Unfortunately, it is now taking them 90 days (sometimes longer) to complete this step. This is completely out of our control.

Because it is now taking so long for them to complete transfer of ownership, we were requesting you, (who is still the owner under the resort's records), to obtain a reservation for your buyer so they can have usage this year as per the contract.

Again, our intentions were never to harass you and we regret you feel this way. Instead, as the broker on this transactions, we are trying to ensure that all of the terms of the contracts are met. Per the contract, buyer's usage starts in 2023 and therefore, we are kindly requesting that you cooperate in this step as per your resort, you are still the owner.

RedWeek "misplaced" our completed paperwork for 30 days (delivered via **** to their offices on 3/10/23 and "found" by them on 4/10/23. In addition, the buyers took almost an additional 30 days to return their signed paperwork. These 2 delays (almost 60 days) pushed the closing process forward by almost the time needed for the resort to transfer the unit name from ours to theirs. We've been upfront from the first request that ******* advised NOT to make a reservation and we've taken that advise. RedWeek continues to hound ** even after this review. ******* confirmed that they received the paperwork on 5/17 and will have the transfer completed 6-8 weeks from that date (between the end of June and mid-July). RedWeek staff have been harrassing, unprofessional and misleading in order to try to cover their part of delaying closing and saving face with the buyers (even though we paid them to represent ** during this process). We would not recommend them, or recommend that you select your own closing company!

This is a great service for renting out your timeshare. Their contact is fair to both sides as it prevents the renter from canceling at the last few weeks without cost repercussions to the renter.Their whole process of advertising, communicating, easy instructions for completing the steps, contracting, and payment is extraordinary. Well worth the money to go full service.

Rental of timeshare weeks were handled expeditiously. No surprises. I'm an owner interested in renting out my weeks to offset maintenance fees.
