I purchased a Pre-Purchase Inspection ************* from Lemon Squad on May 9 for a vehicle at a dealership, providing the dealers contact information for scheduling. The inspection was scheduled for May 12. However, Lemon Squad failed to complete the service on that day, claiming the dealer refused access to the vehicle. After speaking with the dealer, I learned that the dealer actually asked the inspector to wait a few minutes while they brought the car out, but the inspector left without waiting. After this, I rescheduled the inspection and personally stayed at the dealership the entire day to ensure there were no issues. Unfortunately, Lemon Squad never showed up for the appointment. Later that evening, I was informed by Lemon Squad that the car had been ******* a result, I not only lost the money I paid for the inspection and wasted significant time, but also missed out on purchasing the vehicle I wanted. Despite their clear service failure and the resulting damages, Lemon Squad has refused to provide a refund. I believe their actions were irresponsible and unprofessional, and I am seeking a full refund for the service that was never properly rendered.Business Response

Hello,
Lemon Squad has completed a review of Jingyun Peng’s recent concern.
An order was placed online on May 9, 2025, for a vehicle inspection. Following the order placement, our assigned inspector made multiple attempts to coordinate the appointment with the vehicle seller on May 13, 2025. Despite efforts to call and send SMS messages, the seller remained unresponsive. As a result, the order was placed on hold, and notifications were sent to Jingyun Peng via both email and SMS.
Due to the lack of further communication and progress on the order, Lemon Squad will proceed with a full refund of the amount paid. Please note that refunds may take 7–10 business days to reflect, depending on the customer's issuing bank.
If Jingyun Peng has any questions or requires further assistance regarding this refund, we encourage them to contact us at [email protected].Best regards,

Poorly completed inspection. Numerous issues with furnace, water heater, and roof since purchase. Per seller inspector never even got on the roof due to his body size, and had the owners son climb up and take pictures. This person should not be completing inspections he can not do himself.Business Response

Dear BBB,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to **** Binkleys concerns.
Ms. **** ******* scheduled a pre-purchase inspection of a recreational vehicle (**) through Lemon Squad, which was completed on July 9, 2024. Following the inspection, we provided a comprehensive report that included detailed technician notes and over 200 images documenting the condition of the ** at the time of inspection.
We would like to clarify several important points regarding the scope of our inspection:
Roof Access: For safety and liability reasons, our inspectors are not permitted to climb on top of ** roofs. This is a company-wide policy in place to avoid injury and prevent any accidental damage to the vehicle. However, interior ceiling panels are assessed for signs of potential water intrusion or roof-related issues when visible from within the **.
Water System Testing: At the time of inspection, the ** was not connected to a water source. As stated in our inspection guidelines, it is the seller's responsibility to ensure the ** is fully set up and hooked to utilities such as electricity and water. Without this setup, certain systemsincluding plumbingcannot be tested. Our technician noted this limitation in the report.
Inspection Scope: Lemon Squads inspections are non-invasive and observational in nature, as stated in the terms and conditions agreed to at the time the order was placed. This means inspectors do not disassemble vehicle components or connect/disconnect systems. The goal is to provide a third-party, unbiased overview of the vehicles condition based on what is accessible at the time of inspection.
It is also important to reiterate that, as outlined in our Terms and Conditions (****************************************), a Lemon Squad inspection does not serve as a warranty or guarantee, nor does it function as an insurance policy. The final decision to purchase the vehicle rests solely with the customer, and any post-purchase issues, repairs, or maintenance responsibilities fall under the buyers discretion.
We understand how significant a vehicle purchase can be, especially for **s, and we strive to provide as much clarity and visual evidence as possible to support our customers in making informed decisions. We regret that Ms. ******* is dissatisfied with the experience, but we respectfully maintain that the inspection was conducted within the standard procedures and limitations disclosed prior to service.Initial Complaint

They did not mention blatantly obvious damage to the air conditioning system on a car I purchased, despite it being clear, visible, and confirmed by a certified Toyota technician as stemming from a prior front-end collision. Their report falsely claimed the A/C was in good condition and the car was mechanically solidly above average. When confronted with detailed evidence, including photos and a repair estimate over $4,000, they took zero responsibility. This company is negligent and misleading. Save yourself the financial and emotional stress look elsewhere for a reputable inspection service.Initial Complaint

Lemon Squads inspection failed to identify major issues in a used **** SUV I purchased. As a full-time student with limited finances, I relied on their report to make an informed decision. Their failure has caused me serious hardship, and I feel completely let down by their lack of accountability.Complaint Details:On or around March 30, 2025, I ordered a pre-purchase inspection from Lemon Squad for a used **** SUV. The inspection report showed no significant concerns. Based on this, I moved forward with the purchase, expecting I was making a sound, safe decision.Soon after taking ownership, I discovered serious problems:Severely worn brakes with loud squeaking Oil loss requiring a top-up every ****** miles Heavy vibration when turning, possibly due to suspension or drivetrain issues These are not minor or hidden faults. They are immediate, safety-related concerns that any diligent inspector should have noticedespecially during a walkaround or engine check. I contacted Lemon Squad with proof and photos. They responded but refused responsibility, citing their inspections are visual and limited in scope. While I understand their disclaimers, these problems are too obvious to excuse. I expected a basic level of diligence. Their failure directly led me into an expensive, stressful situation that could have been ********** a full-time student and barely getting by financially. I trusted Lemon Squad to help protect me from buying a problem vehicle. Instead, I now face high repair costs and have lost confidence in a service that claims to provide peace of mind. This experience has been financially and emotionally draining. The stress of dealing with unexpected vehicle repairs while trying to balance classes and work is overwhelming. This inspection was supposed to reduce risknot create more. I never imagined a service like this could miss such basic, visible issues.Initial Complaint

I hired the Lemon Squad on 3/26/25 to inspect a 2009 ********** Eos before purchase. Their report only noted cosmetic issues and possibly worn tiresthings I could see myself. Everything else was marked green, so I went ahead and bought the car.Less than a week later, problems began to surface:1.The cigarette lighter doesnt workcant charge my phone.2.Bluetooth doesnt workcant connect my phone.3.Convertible top doesnt go downthe main reason I bought the car.4.The center console phone plug is non-functional.5.Most importantly, five days in, the car wouldnt reverse. The engine revved but didnt move. I was stuck in the street and had to be pushed. It worked briefly later, then failed again the next morning.6.The check engine light came on.I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed extensive pre-existing issues:Transmission, fluid, and filter replacement Engine rear main seal and flywheel replacement New clutch kit Charging port fuse Convertible top repair iPod connector fix Non-functional phone button fix He confirmed these issues were not new and shouldve been obvious during *********************** appalled. I hired Lemon Squad to avoid this exact situation. Instead, I now have a car needing major repairs. I contacted them immediately, sent photos of the issues, and was told they accept no responsibility. Ive followed up daily demanding a refund and am now being completely ignored.Initial Complaint

Had a vehicle inspection done to purchase a vehicle out of state. Lemon Squad said that the vehicle was in good condition with good tires reading 8/32 tread depth. When I received the vehicle the tires were slick and not even safe to drive on. The Dealership says because Lemon Squad signed off on the vehicle they are not liable. I have called Lemon Squad on multiple occasions asking to speak to a manger and they refuse. I would have never purchased the vehicle with slick tires which was the whole reason for hiring them. I now have an expense of $1200 for tires that I will have to pay. Lemon Squad says they can refund me money for their report but will not respond when I said that was not acceptable.Business Response

Hello,

Spent over $200 for an inspection on a car that I ended up buying that, unbeknownst to me, needed $6,000 worth of repairs that lemon squad didnt catch. I emailed their *********** claim that their inspectors did everything they were supposed to do & that they do not provide an in depth inspection that a mechanic would. I brought up the fact that the damage was VISIBLE under the hood, an area that they were supposed to look at, & they didnt photograph the one area that had significant damage. I emailed them back three times pointing this out, & theyve ignored me. I will never recommend them after all of this. I have to take the dealership to small claims now because of the undisclosed damage done to the ******** upset that I thought I did what I needed to do by hiring an inspection service & still ended up getting screwed over. I would like a refund but they wont reply now, of course.Business Response

Hello,
Wrench, ***** d/b/a Lemon Squad (Wrench) has reviewed ****** Husts complaint. Wrench was scheduled to inspect a vehicle by ****** ****. Wrench received the order online on November 25, 2024 and the inspection was completed and provided to ********************* on November 27, 2024.
Wrench pre-purchase car inspections are designed to provide a comprehensive snapshot of the vehicle's condition at the time of the inspection. Wrench inspectors aim to uncover as many apparent issues as possible, but the inspection findings should not replace a mechanics diagnosis. During the vehicles road test, Wrenchs inspector observed a ratcheting noise coming from the front right of the vehicle. Wrenchs inspector scanned the vehicle for fault codes, but no codes were reported back. Further investigation of the ratcheting noise was recommended on the inspection report.
After reviewing the concerns ****** **** forwarded to Wrench, Wrench concluded a thorough inspection of the vehicle was performed at the time of the inspection. Any services provided to the vehicle after the inspection, will complicate the accuracy of the report. Wrench is declining to provide a refund for the report.
Wrenchs pre-purchase car inspections serve as a tool to assist car buyers with making informed purchase decisions. A copy of Wrenchs terms and conditions can be found at ****************************************. If ****** **** has any questions about their inspection report, they may contact Wrench at *************************************************************.

What the business committed to provide:Lemon Squad was hired to perform a comprehensive inspection of a used vehicle I was considering purchasing. The inspection was meant to identify any significant mechanical or operational issues, ensuring that I could make an informed purchasing decision.Lemon Squad's inspection report failed to identify a critical transmission issue in the vehicle. After purchasing the truck, I immediately noticed severe transmission problems and took it to two different mechanics. Both confirmed that the transmission was broken and needed to be replaced, costing me $4,500 in repairs. Had Lemon Squad identified this issue during the inspection, I would not have proceeded with the purchase.I initially contacted Lemon Squad via email, but after more than 10 days, I received no response or acknowledgment of my complaint. After following up with another email, they finally responded, claiming that I was wrong. I provided all the proof, including statements from both mechanics, showing the transmission issue was present on the same day I accepted delivery of the truck. Despite this, Lemon Squad has refused to address their ************ is clear that Lemon Squads inspection services are all for show. When they fail to do their job correctly, they refuse to accept responsibility, and their customer service is appalling. As you can see from other reviews on the BBB, I am not alone in this experience. I strongly advise calling a local mechanic insteadunder no circumstances should you use Lemon SquadBusiness Response

Hello,
Wrench, Inc., d/b/a Lemon Squad (“Wrench”) has reviewed Daulton Young’s complaint. Wrench was scheduled to perform a pre-purchase vehicle inspection for Mr. Young. An inspector from Wrench arrived on August 15, 2024 at the location of the vehicle which needed the inspection and completed the service. During the inspection a road test was performed and no transmission issues were observed. A scan for DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) was also performed and no codes were present.
Wrench determined that the inspector performed a thorough inspection of the vehicle. Pre-purchase inspections are based on what is seen and heard through the eyes and ears of the inspector. Weather and light conditions, as well as the cleanliness of the vehicle both inside and out, can reduce the accuracy of the inspection. For the most accurate inspection report, the vehicle must be clean, dry and well-lit at the time of inspection. Inspectors do not clean or disassemble vehicles prior to or during pre-purchase inspections.
An inspection does not act as a warranty or as an insurance policy for any vehicle inspected by Wrench. Customers are fully responsible for all costs for repairs and maintenance on the vehicle. When accepting Wrench’s Terms and Conditions customers acknowledge and agree that the decision to purchase any vehicle remains their responsibility and are responsible for determining whether a vehicle is under warranty or properly insured. A copy of Wrench’s Terms and Conditions can be found at https://lemonsquad.com/terms.
Wrench recommends Mr. Young work with the prior owner of the vehicle regarding any issues they are experiencing with it. If Mr. Young has additional questions about the inspection, they may contact Wrench at [email protected].

Date of credit card transaction: 10/16/2019 Confirmation number: ****** Date of actual attempt to use service: 7/30/2024 and 8/27/2024 Amount paid to LemonSquad: $169 Business committed to providing a pre-purchase inspection of vehicle Nature of dispute: Tried twice to have LemonSquad see the vehicle and inspect it as they promised me they would. LemonSquad failed to schedule an appointment with the seller both times which resulted in a loss for me because the seller ended up stopping communication with me and I failed to purchase the vehicle. They caused not only an inconvenience but a loss in purchase for me. Unacceptable for the money I paid.Did they try to resolve the issue: No, they never tried to solve anything for me. They just took my money and refused to refund me MULTIPLE TIMES in 2019. They kept my money and promised I could use it toward a future PPI with my money just sitting in the account. When I finally went to use them for a PPI they failed and caused me to lose the vehicle I really wanted. I want my money back as they are inefficient, unreliable, and obviously incapable of performing the duties they charge for.Business Response
