Wish I could give zero stars. VRBO does not fight on behalf of its owners. I had a tenant book, pay in full, and then no-show. We have a very clear cancellation policy on our listing. They never cancelled their reservation and then filed a chargeback with their credit card company. I won the first chargeback, as this is a simple case. They then filed a second chargeback, VRBO automatically took the money out of our account while the case was "under review", and has held that money for 8 months. After several phone calls and emails I was just informed I lost the case. VRBO offers no protection to owners against fraudulent claims. What benefit is it to list on VRBO, pay annual fees and high service charges, and have no protection?

I am not surprised to see all 1 star reviews for VRBO: this is inline with the experience we had with the company. The customer service is nonexistent and they'd be better off if they didn't have it at all. The reason for this review is that VRBO says that they ensure fair business practices, when in fact they can care less about that. We booked a property for a few nights and then were send a leasing agreement by the management company requiring as to sign the agreement and to provide a copy of the driver license that the company will keep on file for 3 years. The listing has no mentioning of this requirement. Had we known about that, we would have just booked a different property. Cancellation wasn't an option and we were told that we either sign the agreement or we lost the money paid for the stay. When we contacted the customer service they were zero help.

What ticks me off about Vrbo,They don't give a hoot about disabled veterans whom happen to have a service dog. Majority want a Pet Fee. As a veteran all us veterans ought to charge an independence fee to Vrbo.

Could not gain access to our rental upon arrival. Called the owner and call went straight to voicemail that was not set up. Called VRBO customer service and was on hold for 30 minutes then dropped. Called again and was on hold for 40 minutes before someone answered. She couldnt get ahold of owner either. Was told by the representative that I was entitled to a refund for up to 2 days at a hotel nearby if booked through Expedia, their parent company I guess. This was their Stranded traveler guarantee. I did exactly as was stated by her and confirmed in an email. Sent everything in and heard back weeks later denying the refund. I did get a refund on the property rental within the week and was told by the owner that it wasnt even supposed to be rented when we booked it. VRBO is a company not to be trusted. They have reps that tell you complete lies and their management takes no responsibility.

I am an owner of a rental house and have my house listed on VRBO for the last two years. About one month ago I noticed that when I had an inquiry into my property and ended up not renting, a message would go out that looked like it was from me directing the potential guest to a different website. I made VRBO aware of this. It took about one week, but they shut down my listing. i called immediately and they had me change my password, change my email, change a bunch of things. I have been on the phone with some form of customer support at least 6 six in the past three weeks. Every time they say they are resolving it and it will be back ** in 24 hours but it never is back up. My account has now been closed down for 3 weeks. They owe me for my last three rentals over ****** dollars and I can not get anyone on the phone who can help me. They keep saying it is with Tier 1 support but you can not talk to any of them on the phone. I can get no resolution. I can not get anyone on the phone who can resolve this problem and reopen my account. Meanwhile, they have charged me my annual fee of 499 for the subscription and I am getting no rentals because you can not view my house.

On July 1st, My husband and I, our son (age 6), daughter (9), my brother-in-law, and my mother-in-law (80) were supposed to check-in to a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom flat near ************ (just west of Kensington Gardens) in ****** for an 8-night-stay. That morning, I received a message from the host telling us we would need to provide cash upon check in due to a perceived problem they were having with VRBO. I called VRBO customer service at ******. There were many calls and much repeated dialogue during the day, including being told by VRBO that we would be re-booked, then told to go to the property and call if there's a problem, then the host trying to send us to a different address than the listing, then eventually being told by VRBO we would be placed in a hotel for 2 nights while they could re-book us at another property. After over 9 hours on the phone or on hold (with numerous disconnections and very few callbacks), at 7:45 pm VRBO finally secured 2 hotel rooms for 1 night, but we received no options for the remainder of our time in ******. The next day, we were given some entirely unsatisfactory rental options (not comparable in either location or size), so we paid a large out of pocket cost to book another night at the same hotel while we secured lodging in 4 rooms at a small **************** through the end of our stay. Although Ive had many wonderful experiences at VRBO properties, this is my first experience with VRBO corporate. Words cannot express my anger and frustration with the absolute incompetence of this company during this debacle. VRBO Calls Total calls with VRBO: 22 Total number of disconnections by VRBO: 11 Total duration of calls/chats with VRBO: 9hrs 28min 20sec Non-refunded monetary expenses related to this situation $3,469.71

Rented a house from ***** and *********************** in ********* through VRBO. No electricity when we got there. Contacted the owner, who did not give us any notice of this- she blamed it on a storm- no storm. I had to call **************** to report (the owners knew long before electricity went but no report on file). It was a bad breaker in the home all along. By the time owner came to reset we lost arrival day- breaker went again and neighbor had to reset. Electrician came to fix, was supposed to be a 1-2 hour job was a huge job, Come to find there were melted wires and entire box needed replaced. So, no electricity the majority of this day and it was over 90 degrees. I kept in communication with the owner, asking her to give refund for days lost in the home and she refused. This was the worst experience but also, the pictures that are posted on VRBO are NOT as the home is on the outside. The first picture shown on the site is a beautiful outdoor fir pit and pool- this is a complete misrepresentation of what it is. Ant problem in the kitchen- she would not address this. I reported all of this to VRBO- their scripted response is entertaining and gets old-they do nothing to help the consumer. All they do is email the owner and say they are escalating, and this will affect the owner's ratings- I do not see this to be true. I doubt if they even post my review- it has been over 3 weeks and nothing has changed. Once I contacted VRBO the owner changed her tone in responding to me, but still after many emails, her arguing back and forth with me, her best offer is $550. My cost, over $3,000.00. VRBO should insist on factual pictures and have inspections of some sort for safety. I am frustrated and completely dissatisfied with this experience and will not use VRBO again.

A group of ** rented a house in ********* *******. The house slept (8) and that was the number we put in.The air conditioner was not working upon arrival and internal temperature was 84 degrees, July in ******* is not a cool time.We went without a working AC for 3 and a half days out of a (5) day stay.It sleeps (8), two rolls of toilet paper and two garbage bags and (4) towels. No sponges or dish washing soap of any kind.I have sent two detailed messages and have received a $200 offer and a $200. booking credit, our cost for the rental was $1800. The first night we spent $150. at Lowes for (5) fans for air circulation.I cannot believe the condition of the house and the first ******* home ive experienced without (1) ceiling fans anywhere in the house.I will as well as the other (45) golfers never, ever use VRBO in the future. We gave them to do the right thing and did not We requested a $800. refund, they can keep their $200 booking credit. They should have a negative star category for VRBO!

VRBO was wonderful at taking my money for my booking. The family we were visiting contracted COVID just before our trip. I didnt want to lose all of the money that I paid for my reservation, it was past the cancellation date. I sent in multiple requests to change my dates to a later time and nothing! VRBO didnt even respond or cancel my reservation on the calendar in order to open the dates up for someone else to rent in my place. No possible chance of recovering any of it, even the large cleaning fee, when no one will be there to get the place dirty. VRBO did not even acknowledge my request was received. I contacted the owner but all they would do was offer a couple of week dates (we booked a weekend) within the next 3 weeks out of fear that they would reopen the cancellation refund policy and we would cancel. I asked for the cleaning fees and they only agreed to waive them if I booked and paid for another timeframe. Buyer beware!!
