Very bad customer service. Issues do not get resolved. Use Airbnb instead.

We reserved a room at a resort at ************ (***********************). We went for 4 nights in summer 2022 for $900 through Vrbo. We also paid $107 to Vrbo for insurance for a ********* at the resort. However, when we arrived, the furniture and carpet were old and emitted an odor. Also, the chairs on the patio were broken and unclean. We called Vrbo right when we arrived but did not receive a response. We also called the office manager and showed them pictures of our room but they did not do anything to assist. When we returned from vacation, we talked to Vrbo and explained what happened but they did not assist either. It is now August and we are supposed to get our money back but they refused to reimburse us.

Can I pick below one star? I always book with Airbnb but I decided to try VRBO this trip. Right away **** contacted me that a fraudulent charge appeared on my credit in the same city where I was trying to book reservations. I contacted VRBO and of course they denied it but it was too coincidental. Then the application misbehaved and the $ that was quoted was different then the final price. I called right away and was told they would take of it and get back to me. I waited a week and no one did. I tried calling and got the run around so I called **** and we called VRBO together and that agent would do absolutely nothing. **** recommended I cancel the two reservations I had made and they would take care of all charges. VRBO looks to the property manager to charge your credit card which means it is given out (I experienced the risk with that. With Airbnb you only receive charges from Airbnb. My advice is to move on. The customer service is horrible and the processes are horrible.

Rented a house, paid in full. Trip was during the spring of 2020, when Covid initially hit. Owner agreed to give me a 2 year extension. Wonderful. Rebooked for May 2022. Confirmed TWICE via VRBO email (see below). She assured me repeatedly the rental was mine. I emailed the owner a few weeks in advance to get address and she informed me the house was no longer available, she had rented to someone else. She offered to refund HALF of my money, but refused a full refund. I spoke to VRBO three times to argue my case and hopefully get the remainder of my money back, to no avail. They informed me it is completely up to the owner, they can do nothing. I will never use this company again.

Booked a rental with Vrbo for 8/3 through 8/10. Arrived to find entire kitchen in disarray. Dishwasher was pulled out from counter, all dishes were taken out of cabinets and placed around the room. It was after opening a cabinet that we discovered pesticides had been sprayed through out the room. Every drawer was covered in poison. This was the reason for the smell in the house. Then we found the roaches. We have small children and refused to stay in the house covered in poison. Tried to contact owner with no success. Contacted Vrbo, who tried to contact owner with no success. Felt that the pictures provided did not show a "significant pest infestation" and advised us to not leave the house. Told and shared pictures of the house with Vrbo, who said that we couldn't prove that the oily residue inside the cabinet was pesticide. Also Vrbo said we had to give the owner at least 12 hours to respond to the issue. Owner replied to their messages 16 hours later through the Vrbo chat feature. Stated he was out of the country and could not use a phone. He was going to send a cleaner over to fix issue. That the house was sprayed regularly for pest management however, it must not have been put back together. Remember, this was already 24 hours after arrival. Vrbo stated that they could not issue any refund since they did not think the property was an issue and would not help to get us into a new property. Vrbo did not honor their own renters policy. We will be looking into legal action.

I saw a condo rental in ******* -I saw on your web site - - The owner of the Condo had the dates available--owner ************************* condo- *********** ****************************************************** rental time 6/15-6/17-she had wed and thursday open- She charged me $500 total-and to make the check out to her and mail to her-which I did, and she cashed-so stopped at the condo on the 6/15- this is the first time by myself since my husband passed away- didnt like that there is no office, halls very dim- the key box was open-which made me uneasy -checked the room out- I left to bring my girl friend to where she was staying at the Grand View-they had some cancelations-so I decided to stay there-felt better I was with friends- I didnt go back to Cedar Lodge till the next day to bring the key back, which she said dont lose the key, only one. Then I was going to call ****** that I didnt use it-got there to find someone else was renting it-how did they get in if I had the only key, so thank God I didnt stay there-I would have had someone coming into my room-I voiced a very big complaint with her- she said she was going to return everything but one night- have sent several emails to her- still no money-I guess next step is Better Business Bureau-let them know what kind of games are going on with your rentals **************

Charged $188 to cancel, plus $300 to the condominiums. Made reservations at ************************ in *** June 23 then had to cancel the very next day. ********************* says that is Summerhouses policy even though it doesnt state it anywhere on their website. VRBO said they would refund the $188 but I have yet to see it. $488 to NOT go on vacation. Thanks VRBO and Summerhouse, I will tell this story till the day I die.

Staying in a house in ******* , paid 3k for a week, get there find c*** roaches all over house, broken dishwasher , broken microwave broken projector movie room, fans dont work, no batteries in any remotes. Call the complex management company, they do not return phone calls just take messages, contact vrbo 3 days in after being on hold constantly and wasting my vacation only to be told c*** roaches are not an issue they do not care about anything and will keep this house listed when we leave. Its so disgusting what vrbo can get away with.

I've been using VRBO (Homeaway) for years. It's always been good until I've had an issue. The property (3 bedrooms) and the listing (4 bedrooms) didn't match. The property was filthy, AC didn't work (Vegas in August), and the sewer came up from the baths every time we flushed the toilet. The host was nasty and hostile. We ended up booking a place on Airbnb that cost the same but was perfect for my family and me.VRBO support was terrible and wouldn't transfer me to another property, even though I took pictures and showed them that it's a three-bedroom house on the title. They claimed that the tiny closet was the 4th bedroom. They also said that I should contact the owner about the other issues. I told them I was not going to spend our three days vacation inspecting his house and accommodate contractors to work during our stay. What a joke of a company.I'm done with VRBO.
