Dear BBB,I am writing to report an unauthorized purchase that was made on my Steam account on 10/23/2024.On 10/23/2024, I discovered that $1.99 was charged to my account for two loading screens in Dota 2. I did not authorize this purchase. I believe that the purchase was made due to a security breach associated with older Call of Duty titles, which I was playing at the time.I have contacted Steam support to request a refund, but they have been unwilling to provide a refund, even going as far as closing the case.I am requesting the BBB to investigate this matter and take appropriate action against the responsible party. I have already reported this to the ************************ (***) and my state's Attorney General.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,*******Initial Complaint

Good day, everything that happened is described in the document claim2.docx, after I was told that the legal team of Valve Corporation would resolve the dispute through my local consumer center, I informed them that this is not possible, to which I did not receive any further response and I see this as a poor attempt to avoid resolving my dispute and therefore I was told to try to contact you and resolve this dispute through your services. I would be glad if you would take the time to look into my problem and inform me if it is in your power to address it and help me solve the problem.Thank you in advance for your reply and have a nice day *****Initial Complaint

I traded with a trusted trade bot on this website. ********** my trade was accepted on app and I verified that the account was the correct one. As soon as I finished the trade it was sent to another account. This issue is completely on Valve Corp and needs to be resolved or legal action will be taken. I want my items returned or value of items returned to me.Initial Complaint

I bought a steam gift card the 50 dollar one. It was the digital card where you are sent a code to redeem the funds. I sent it to the person I bought it for and it told them it had already been redeemed. Which couldn't be possible because I just bought it. I bought it October 16th 2024. I contacted Game stop because that is where I ordered it. And game stop told me it was valve steams problem. There is no number to contact someone. Only a request thing asking for help. Valves steam customer service tells me it's game stop that is supposed to do something. Both companies are pinning it on the other and refusing to fix the problem. I am now out 50 dollars and I have no idea why I was sent a used code. Apparently this is a common thing that happens. Or so I've been told. Either Valve steam or Game stop are selling used gift card codes and then not fixing the problem or making it right. At this point I just want a refund and I will never be shopping at either establishment again.Initial Complaint

I received a ban in call of duty for "unauthorized use of software" and "in game data manipulation."********** has permanently banned my account because ******************** gave incorrect information. The items above that I have allegedly done and are being accused of are false as I have know Idea how to even do. I have also read in the steam community that this has been done to other people. I have stated before that my account was hacked but that was almost if not a year ago. I unlinked all accounts and changed all my passwords. I would like for this to be overturned.Initial Complaint

I bought the game on October 13 for $192.76, but it is now available for $101 on sale. There have been previous occasions where the seller allowed customers to repurchase at the sale price and issued a refund for the original amount. However, when I reached out to them, my request for a prorated refund was denied. I had already purchased this game for my PlayStation, but it was very "laggy" and wouldnt connect online to buy animals, which is the main focus of the game. This experience ultimately led me to buy it for my computer.Initial Complaint

I have $1000s+ in games in the platform know as Steam and I'm sorry I do. Steam is now holding my games hostage. They're own terrible 2FA policy has bricked my account. The phone used for that is long dead. I have approached steam to resolve the situation, but have only been stonewalled by more bad corporate policy. Never mind that I can prove who I am and that I am the owner of the account with the countless government issued IDs I have. No. They HAVE TOO HAVE a phone and bank cards that no longer exist. And for the record, I never wanted 2FA on my account. I was fine without it. But it was forced down my throat anyway. And now my account, is permanently BRICKED!Initial Complaint

My issue involves a situation that occurred on the Steam platform, managed by Valve Corporation. It stems from the fact that an unauthorized person, likely through the theft or copying of my web browser session, gained access to my Steam account and made 160 transactions on the Steam Community Market, amounting to approximately ****** USD This happened despite the fact that I use 2FA, which, up until this point, has always notified me through the mobile app about any login attempts and required confirmation that the login was initiated by ***** this case, however, that didnt happen. I found out that someone had accessed my account from 160 emails regarding transactions made on my Steam Community Market account. These transactions occurred on Oct. 9, 2024, between 13:16 and 13:29. They stopped after I used the "log out of all devices" function from my laptop. What is the method of operation of the "hacker"? After gaining access to the account, they make purchases using the funds available in the victim's Steam Wallet. This involves buying a virtual item on the Steam Community Market that is listed by the "hacker." The item itself has very little actual market value, but the "hacker" lists it for sale at a price equivalent to the funds in the victims ********* my case, an item worth just a few pennies was purchased for ~****** USD from another user using the funds in my ********************** Wallet.I informed the platform about the entire situation, but the issue was ignored. In a situation like mine, does the platform have the right to retain the fees charged, even though I informed them that the transaction from which these charges were made was unauthorized and constitutes a crime in itself? Given the nature of the case, would it be reasonable for me to continue seeking a full refund of the funds that I lost from my Steam wallet in relation to the described transaction? If at least one of these options is possible, could I ask you for assistance in recovering the money?
