I signed an advertising agreement with Best Version Media one year ago. Since then, the business has fallen on hard times and I am unable to continue the contract. Also, the results of the advertising are not proven to be successful as if they were, I would have more customers and not be short on funds. I also know that the salesperson lied to me regarding the reach and scope of the advertising as he assured me that my advertising would reach the most affluent houses in the area and the families I sponsored would come to me for clothing for their photos etc. None of this has happened and no family has come to me for clothing for their photo shoot. I have been forced to pay $795 a month for a 1/2 page ad in a magazine that only reaches a small amount of the are I service and I simply cannot afford this anymore. I have reached out to the company many times and explained my situation. They refuse to let me out of a contract. And even though my credit card denies the payment, they keep trying to charge it until it works again. I have not given them permission to run my ad, yet again I have been charged for another month's fee. This is unacceptable and absolute usury.Business Response

I belong to a networking group and a representative from this company visited us. We did a zoom call later where I was considering placing an ad. She suggested I set everything up including debit card information and I could launch my ad when I was ready. I would also be able to design/approve my ad when I was ready o go. I did sign a contract and did not read it nor was I ever informed that they could do whatever they wanted and I was locked in for 12 months to the tune of $324/month. This was never made clear to me. All I want is for them to never run an ad of mine and never charge me going forward. This woman ***** ****** kept vital information from me and now says too bad, you signed a contract, I cant help you now. This is a terrible way to do business and she/they should be ashamed of themselves. I do plan to take this all the way to consumer affairs in ** to get these people out of my life. Also, I am a 1099 employee and have discovered I had no right to place an ad without corporate approval. I Eam hoping you can help me make these people go away and end this bogus contract. I have no intention of ever paying them another dime.Business Response

I signed a contract with the representative of the magazine and she promised me I would be the only of my kind of business advertised in the magazine. I found another company that was advertised on there, taking a better spot on the magazine and doing treatments I do. Also, In the period of 2 1/2 years of my contract I have express my dissatisfaction about the performance of the ad, as I haven't received any clients from the advertisement. I have tried to communicate my feelings and stop the contract as I do. not get any business from them. They are not accommodating at all and not welling to help out in any way. I am a small business and tried multiple times to have them stop the contract or at least pause it. No help from them.Business Response

According to our local rep, they offered ad upgrades, additional articles in the magazine, and discounted digital ad pricing to resolve our client's concerns. Additionally, there is a no-exclusivity clause in our agreements, meaning BVM did not breach any terms of the agreement. We have honored the contract that was signed and we look forward to resolving this situation in the near future.Initial Complaint

Caution: BVM does not care if they are hurting your business with their high price ads. Ive not seen any ROI, because no one reads magazines anymore. My advertising dollars would have been better spent utilizing Social Media. We are going out of business and BVM wants to continue running our ad. What a waste. So disappointed. A decent company would work with the advertising business and not demand you keep advertising with them.Business Response

I signed up with BVM back in early July of 2024. I was promised leads for my new small business, an article focusing on the topic of my choosing, and help with SEO operations along with social media leads. I was falsely promised these things mentioned above.I was never given a proof of my article which was comprised of questionaire answers I had written about myself. It had nothing to do with the article I was told would be written. Instead, it was my answers word for word. The publisher was notified of my issues via email on 8/6/24 with the printed story. The publisher responded with a rushed email stating he would try to make it better but only offered a larger ad size as compensation. He did not further follow up or call to discuss. I pay this company $300/month to help with SEO operations. I waited almost 2 months for an introduction call to manage the dashboard myself. In the call I was promised I would have an account manager now that the onboarding was complete. Over a week has passed and I have yet to hear anything. The presenting onboarding manager also incorrectly added store hours to the dashboard which led to people being confused by our store hours since ****** said we were closed on Saturdays which we clearly arent. This company has not upheld their contract and terms that I was promised, signed up for, and pay each month. I wish to drop this agency and leave the contract immediately.Business Response

Our local **** do not promise how many new customers will walk through the door as a result of our branding campaigns. Additionally, our online listings service allows local businesses to be more discoverable. We do not offer *** services as our client mentions in their complaint. Our local *** worked with our client in a very efficient manner and offered ad upgrades and a free spotlight article, which was not part of our client's original agreement. Our client did not get in contact with our *** after the offers were extended. In regards to the digital onboarding, our client met with an onboarding specialist on August 29. It was explained to our client that an account manager would be assigned after 30 days. We have honored our end of the agreement that was signed and look forward to working with our client for the duration of their contract.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
****** *****, the publisher for *****************************, originally promised us a Spotlight Article as a favor for signing with BVM. This article was supposed to be about back to school and how I acquired the business. I was not told that my answers to the questionnaire I had completed would be used verbatim and turned into the spotlight article. I was also told during the original meeting that BVM helped with SEO operations. This was not true as you have stated BVM does not do this. Your employee promised us things that do not exist and are not provided by your company. Sharif responded via email once on 8/6/24 in regards to the article to rectify him not showing us a proof for the original. Email attached. On Wednesday September 11, Sharif called us at 2:40pm and verbally harassed my employee about filing a complaint with the BBB. He raised his voice and yelled at her about the situation instead of trying to make things right or offer us any sort of help. He hung up the phone, then called back to finish the argument without listening to our side.
My intentions are to have this contract voided as we did not accept what he said in the email as compensation. After he sent that email we had not heard from him in regards to making things right and upholding the contract.

Best Version Media (BVM) falsely claimed to offer a "branding campaign" for my business. On March 5, 2021, I signed a 36-month contract based on assurances that this service would attract the right customers. However, ***************** service lacked the essential elements of a true branding campaign. A genuine branding campaign requires: Strategic Planning: Clear brand strategy and understanding of the target audience. Multi-Channel Engagement: Consistent promotion across various platforms, not just a single mailer. Content Creation: Tailored content that reinforces the brand identity. Audience Targeting: Data-driven strategies to reach the right demographic. Ongoing Monitoring: Regular assessment and adjustment for effectiveness. BVM provided none of these. Instead, they delivered a small ad in a local mailera glorified flyersent to an unverified list of addresses. This service does not meet the standard of a branding campaign. After two years and $9,176.40 paid, it became clear that BVM's service was ineffective. Customers in my store, including my mother-in-law and major winery owners, never received the mailer. Meanwhile, a woman in ********** housing did but she only came by to offer window cleaning. This shows BVM failed to reach the promised audience, wasting my money. In March 2024, BVM sent my account to collections for $4,588.20. Prior to that, they attempted to bribe me with lowering their claim to $1,529.40 for my silence, which I refused. I demanded a full refund, as BVMs actions constitute fraudulent misrepresentation and unethical practices. BVM may argue they fulfilled their obligations by sending out the mailer, but what they sold me as a "branding campaign" was nothing of the sort. Contract would be unforceable in CA as it is one-sided, unconscionable, against public policy, lacking mutual consideration and the company is becoming known for this. Had I invested that $9,176.40 in a real branding campaign, I likely would still be in business today.Business Response

Our branding solutions have helped many businesses reach their ideal local audience. Attempts were made to settle this issue, but all attempts were rejected by the client. This account is about one year old now. All of the services the client agreed to were clearly sent forth in the written contract. We honored our end of the agreement that was signed by providing all of the services that were promised. The client did not raise the issues set forth in their complaint at the time the contract was executed. Additional services were available, but the client chose the services they desired.

We've signed a contract with best version media on 07/23, and this was the biggest scam i've ever seen or heard of. They have not done anything for us except charge a ridiculous $2,500 each month. We tried to cancel because this is killing our small business, and they said to just go out of business.... and that we would need to show proof of bankrupcy to cancel. The contract continues till the end of 2026 and we are on our last life span here. They said we can reduce some services to make our monthly bill $799... but WHO can afford that. They havent even performed the services yet and this is until the END of 2026... like what???Business Response

Federal **************** Report number: ********* "Misuse of online reviews juxtaposed against the financial revenue generation aspect of the enterprise. Most high ranking reviews are simply by consumer families featured in magazine a basic red ******* approach to steer attention away from the true dishonest, ineffective and useless print "advertising" statistics using unverifiable claims. Now, the company has ventured into the completely subjective industry of "online advertising" extolling the virtues of a completely fabricated search engine optimization business model. The client met with our local *** and signed two ad agreements (36-months each) earlier this year (totaling over $1M in advertising cost). Prior to finalizing and approving the contracts, BVM required a meeting between a principal of the client, BVM's director of contracts and BVM's general counsel. The meeting was convened because of the client's start-up status and inexperience. After the meeting (and assurances by the client), the contracts were approved by BVM. One agreement began in July, and the other was set to start in October. Per the first contract that was signed, BVM began running advertising for our clients business in July. Shortly afterward (approximately 2-3 weeks), the client requested to cancel their agreements. Our team was in communication with our client and worked with them in a timely manner to resolve this situation. BVM agreed to cancel over one million dollars in contractual obligations and charge the client only for the advertising actually run in July (which BVM incurred printing and other third-party costs). Our client was only charged for the one month of advertising we fulfilled. Branding requires a consistent, ***etitive effort to show success, and our local ***s do not promise how many new customers will walk through the door as a result of our branding campaigns, and certainly not how many clients will be obtained during the first two weeks of a three-year branding campaign. The client chose to cancel the 36-month contracts the month they started. The reason for the cancellation cannot reasonably be argued to be related to the efficacy of the contracts because one was active for less than a month and the other had not started.Customer Answer

Unfortunately, this company and its representatives continue to misrepresent the facts at hand. This response from the BVM representative clearly demonstrates the desire to defraud the public by allowing and providing only partial facts. The Prior settlement agreement from the company provides clear and obvious capitulation to our prior disclosed complaint that verbal agreements were established, executed and the local representative was admonished for the wrong doing on or about 6/28/24

BVM sales person contacted me for her magazine advertising. Despite saying No, she kept contacted me on my person phone number, even she came to business Despite saying No. Still she kept forcing me to go with her magazine. She made wrong promises including I can stop services if I feel not comfortable with magazine.Even I asked her cooling off period for this contract, she said I do not need to worry about this is just formalities. Even I called her after I sign ( I asked her physical copy to review, but she denied it)., I called her even before published magazine that I am not comfortable with magazine ( she ghosted me for few days but finally pick up my call and reply my email)So I made up mind that I been thuged so I will continue with magazine. But after two months I felt enough is enough and I canceled my credit card. After few months, lawyer contacted me to settle with them. But I don't have money and time to fight with lawyers. This is reason to contact BBB. Please help me to get out from this situation. I am not able to handle this stress anymore Thank youBusiness Response

During the initial sales presentation, our local *** explained the difference between branding and direct-response advertising. Branding takes time to be successful and show results. According to our ***, there was never a cancellation promise made during the presentation. Our client ultimately signed up for a multi-year agreement with us and we began running his advertisement. After hearing about our client's concerns, our team made several attempts to address this situation and find a fair solution for everyone involved. Despite these efforts, we were unable to reach a solution with our client.

I specifically ask her about my cool off period. I did not want to sign any contract and she said that this is only formalities.I called her next day for cool off period and I wanted to cancel my contract.
I did not want any contract since beginning but sales *** was litterly begging for this business. When I called her to cancel contract or whatever this formalities, she told me that BVM will go to court against me. So I decide my self that I will not pay for this magazine which are blackmail me. Even I sent her email 1 month prior to cancel my contract before I cancel my credit card
How come she did not take my name and position. How she made contract without my name and position. I was working in business. She did not even mention legal name in contract.
I am telling you that she was in hurry to sign this contract and leave the place. Even she did not give me any physical or pdf copy before to read contract
I am victim of fraud activity done by sales person to get more business

I began using Best Version Media to advertise for my business in February of 2024. I was told I would be a feature sponsor within 3 months, with pictures and details about my business. That has not happened. I was also told I would receive the magazine and that also has not happened. So I am not even sure my ad has been running. Another promise I was made was that I would receive updates on social media and internet searches and that report would be emailed to me monthly. I have never received the updates.I am completely unhappy with how this has turned out and would like to cancel my contract with Best Version Media for not holding up to their end of the contract.Business Response

We're disappointed to hear about our client's experience with us. With that said, this business was featured in the Business Spotlight section of the magazine in the most recent edition. Our client's print ad has been running successfully for the duration of the agreement, and our local *** plans to begin dropping off monthly copies moving forward. Our client had an invalid email address on file until it was recently corrected, which is why they were not receiving their monthly impressions ***ort for their digital ad. We hope to continue working with our client to effectively brand their business in the local community.
