My company signed up with best version media for a 12 month contract where they would include an advertisement for my company on their monthly newspaper every month. Not only did they not send out the newspapers to all of the addresses they claimed to, but they continued to charge me the monthly fee after the 12 month agreement was up, despite me having confirmed the year long membership was canceled with the representative whom I was told was the owner of the magazine when I initially signed the agreement. I am requesting that the year long agreement be respected, all billing to have stopped after the 1 year agreement. AND I want a copy of each months publication that my advertisement was placed in. I was told I would receive copies as proof that the magazines were in fact made.Business Response

We have been advertising our business with Best Version Media and ***************************** for over the past year. We have now sold our business and the new owner does not wish to advertise with them. We have tried explaining this to ***************************** and Best Version Media. They still insist on continuing advertising the business even though we no longer own it and clearly have no rights to advertise a business that we do not own. This is not a case of not wanting to continue to advertise, but a case that we have no rights to advertise this or any other business that we do not own. We tried explaining this to them, but they insist on continuing the advertising and running the ads as originally signed. They actually want to continue running the same advertisement! We do not own the business they want to advertise and charge us for. They try using strong arm tactics and this needs to stop. They need to recognize there is no longer a business to advertise and we no longer own a business. They need to accept this and stop trying to force us to advertise in their printed and on-line media for a business we do not own. Other potential advertisers need to be made aware of Best Version Medias unscrupulous tactics.Business Response

What led us to sign a contract with Best Version Media a few years back was the expectation that we would get some business out of it. We have maximized every part of writing articles every month in both neighborhood magazines. In other words, we have not been lazy or wasted any part of the resources we were paying for. And yet, we have not had one client that has come out of it. And when their agent was soliciting us, the value he communicated with it was that there would be a ROI from the cost and the work we put into it. Additionally, we ended up joining the Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, and a ***************** all to get more exposure and to attach our name to the articles and advertising that we do with Best Version Media. These ventures were recommended to us by Best Version Media agent in order to help "pull through" our investment with the magazine. And yet, nothing has panned out. In addition to the thousands of dollars we have paid for their services, there are also thousands of dollars we have paid to be part of those community organizations. Again, there has not been a direct client out of this. The bottom line is that we are very dissatisfied with the outcomes of our investment with Best Version Media. We have reached out to Best Version Media many times requesting to cancel our contract, and they flatly refused. No wonder there is a ton of online complaints about them. Now, the company is sending emails threatening to send the remaining balance of the contract to collections. During my career, I have contracted advertising with many companies, and this is the only one I have come across that requires you to sign a 36-month contract with no cancellation policy. No one should have to commit to such a long contract, especially if the product is not worth it. A reputable company would not need such a long contract, and you should be able to re-up after one year if the product is worth it.Business Response

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Best Version Media regarding a contractual agreement (Ad Agreement E-******) entered into between our company and the aforementioned company. Despite our initial optimism and financial investment, we regret to report that after one year of using their services, the expected results have not been met. We were under the impression we would have an expansion of business visibility by becoming an expert contributor for their magazine but the lack of leads or calls to our small business has raised concerns about the effectiveness of their services since the result of good branding is an increase of sales.Adding to our dissatisfaction is their no cancelation by client policy. This policy leaves our company in a vulnerable position, unable to terminate the agreement even when faced with subpar performance, and does not meet our expectations. Its hard to understand the persistence of this policy after numerous complaints that have been raised against it.We have previously contacted their business to express our dissatisfaction and their response reiterated that their contractual terms explicitly state the absence of any guarantee of acquiring clients through advertising. Therefore, we are stuck in a $400/ month contract we believe is not benefiting our business. We kindly request the Better Business Bureau's assistance in addressing these concerns and helping us with a contract termination.Thank you for your time and consideration.Business Response

Our local rep did not hear about our client's concerns until the filing of this complaint. Our client was added to the mailing distribution list using the address our team had on file, so they should be receiving the magazine each month with their ad inside. Unfortunately, our client never informed our rep about potential mailing issues until now. Details regarding ad changes were also covered upon the signing of the ad agreement, and our local rep provided their contact information in case questions or concerns came up. No ad changes have been requested by our client since their first edition in the magazine. We look forward to honoring our side of the agreement and helping our client grow their local brand.

We have been trying to get out of our contract for over a year with this company with no resolution. Sales representatives lying to us multiple times saying he can cancel our contract with no penalty. After further review he has no authority to cancel contracts and has lead us on a run around trying to get answers, months upon months with no answers from this company its clear that they do no care about their clients and only care about money, we have probably spent over ***** dollars with 0 return on investment. The least they can do is nullify the contract without us having to spend another dollarBusiness Response

A sale rep from Best Version Media came to my store in Nov 2023. They told me that they worked with an AD agency and that they would love to work with me. I agreed and said i would be willing to try it out for one month and that because I am a startup that opened SEPT 2023 I cannot currently afford much. The sale rep told me I could do that and from that moment to the moment i signed the contract there was no mention of a No-Cancellation Policy. At this point I'm stuck in a 10 month contract I can't afford, and I can't get out.Business Response

Date of transaction: 11-01-2022 Contract # E-****** for 36 monthly inserts Amount paid to date: $6,750.00 Amount remaining: $13,500 Type of service: Advertising Number of monthly inserts printed: 12 Number of monthly inserts remaining: 24 This publication promoted itself as an essential advertising and reference guide for the neighborhood where our business is located (***** Knolls in **********, **). Our business tracks sources of new customers, and none have come from this publication. Existing clients state they have never heard of nor received this publication. Publication will not provide mailing lists, zip codes, or proof of delivery. The contract does not contain ad specifications (size, placement, color or B&W).Publication printed only 2 articles in 2023 about our business, but the contract calls for four articles per year.Publication printed false information about our business in the publication. The contract is not countersigned by a representative of Best Version Media. The person who signed the contract on our business' behalf did not understand that there is a "no cancellation" clause in the contract. It is not standard business practice in any industry to have a "no cancellation" clause.Contract only specifies the consideration (i.e. the fee our business pays), and does not specify performance (i.e. what Best Version Media will guarantee).Best Version Media states our company received a discount on their advertising rate, but this is not indicated in the contract.Business Response

We offer branding solutions rather than direct response advertising tools. Our magazines create awareness for local businesses by keeping them top-of-mind in the community every month. Our local rep explained this to our client prior to the signing of the ad agreement. Additionally, our client had the opportunity to submit up to four articles for the magazine but only provided two despite our local publication team requesting the additional articles. We have offered our client an opportunity to close the agreement but they decided not to move forward with the proposal. We hope to find a resolution in the near future, otherwise we will continue to work with them for the remainder of their agreement.Initial Complaint

Best Version Media claims to provide digital ad and print services for businesses in the local area. We have yet to receive a single lead or interest from any of their ads despite them producing false digital impression reports indicating people have seen ads. We have ads with other companies and get at least 2-3 leads per day. They ask the client to pay $1500 a month for services with little to no return. When I attempted to cancel, they stated there is no cancelation policy AT ALL even though we are having financial hardship as a small business that just opened in October 2023. The sales rep NEVER informed us that we were signing a 3 year contract. It was never once verbalized to us during the entire sales presentation and we were misled into thinking it was 12 months and we'd actually get a return on investment. We were lied to and misled and they're now trying to enforce a 3 year contract when we gained exactly ZERO revenue from their supposed ad creation. The ads are basic and there is little to no content in the magazines compared to what they showed us in the presentation. The entire company is extremely shady and you can never get in touch with anyone at corporate. It has the feeling of a multi-level marketing scam.Business Response

All terms of the agreement that our client signed were communicated clearly by our local rep, including the duration of the agreement. Our client was made aware that signing up to become an Expert Contributor in the publication requires a 36-month commitment. Furthermore, a digital copy of the agreement was immediately delivered to our client upon signing. We are committed to working with our client to reach a fair solution for everyone involved.

In early 2022 we were in contact with the local agent for BVM in Ancaster, we are a newer business and we agreed to try it out, we had no concept it was for a binding 3 years. This was never made clear to us, thats on us, we accept that, though now almost 2 years in, it has never once yielded us results. Like a great many other people in our area our business is registered at our home, which we have discovered since that the magazine is not distributed to businesses, so this dismisses a large number of residences from ever seeing our advert. We have asked about distribution many many times, it is distributed to about 10 percent of the population in the area and we are continually dismissed and suggestions made that we purchase additional online advertising if we are not happy. About a six months ago it was also suggested to us that we should upgrade to the higher plan as there was a similar business seeking that slot in the magazine, we declined and no such business has appeared in our absence, another bully tactic. We have been mislead, we are a small family business and feel trapped by bullies, no conversation is entered into, it's impossible to engage in meaningful conversation about our concerns as we are ignored and dismissed. We have tried it, we have even put our family through it to be on the cover to see if it makes a difference, we have completed business profiles, none of it works. We are 2 years into our program nearly and we want out, it is an horrific spend of money that nets no results, there is no ethics or principles in this organization and the manner in which they communicate is certainly not with the community spirit they spout as their core principles.Business Response
