I signed up for this ad service after being pressured into it by the division manager. I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try. But from the start I made it clear that as a new realtor it was a stretch for my budget. He assured me that if we needed to "skip months" we could. After a few months of realizing the arrangement did not work, I requested a cancellation and the manager convinced me to try a new service that would be "more valuable" for me effective Jan ****. He promised we could "skip" the next months of payments for the remaining half of 2023. A few months went by and when I requested a skip for October, the manager promised he would push through a skip and never did. He ghosted me for weeks and finally responded saying he would do his best to remedy this. Never heard from him again but I have received bills from accounting departments and have been sent design proofs by their designers after requesting numerous times for a cancellation. I have told them to stop running any ads but have not received any response. I have not found any ROI from this service and have had more headaches and issues with their service than anything else.Business Response

Our local rep communicated the terms of the ad agreement before our client signed up and also allowed our client to skip several months of advertising to ******************* concerns. On April 13, 2022 I signed contracts for 6 different suburb Best Version Media for ads for a total of $4,600 per months. I was told by the sales guy that the ads would increase my business, they would basically pay for themselves, etc. I was also told initially that I just needed to sign a 1 year contract and that "the contract can be broken if needed." Then he told me it was a 3 year contract, after he convinced me how wonderful advertising with Best Version Media would be. In December, we noticed that half of the ads had an incorrect suite number, despite my correcting the original proof. The sales guy simply corrected it, no discount/refund, nor apology was given. I started telling him that I could not afford the ads, that we were not seeing an increase in business. He said we were under contract. He me a cover story, in August. It was not done until March 2023. The individual who wrote the article was so clueless, I entirely rewrote the article. I sent some graphs to show our data and the graphs must have been reconfigured in the email, but I was not shown proofs prior to print. When the article came out, I immediately emailed the sales guy that the graphs were wrong. He did nothing.I quite paying 3 months ago because I can no longer afford the ads, each month replying and copying the sales guy. Finally about a week ago, a "Client Special Concerns" person reached out, to settle and end my contracts. Honestly, when I looked back at the article, it infuriated me that sales guy did not refer me to a "Client Special Concerns" person sooner. The fact that I pointed out their error immediately, but a correct was never run in the magazine, bothers me greatly. Their graphs make me look like I do not know what I am doing.I want them to run a correction, if they expect me to pay any additional since I paid $87,400 already for many months of an incorrect address, and lies as to how it will increase my business and that the contracts could be stopped.Business Response

We apologize for mistakenly running ads that included incorrect information about our client's business. Unfortunately, we are not able to reprint and distribute past editions of our magazines, but our team has attempted to work with our client to resolve this issue. We hope to reach a resolution regarding this matter in the near future.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I filed a complaint on December 5, 2023 for issues with Best Version Media. The "Manager Client Special Concerns" replied on December 8, 2023 at 9:09 am, stating:What we can do is run a new ad and graph in our January edition for you that will ultimately be run for free since we will not be getting paid on it. Let me know what magazine edition you would like it run on by December 12, 2023 and we will make it happen, thank you.I will be sending over the settlement for the ********* that will need to be paid in 7 days. thank you.Of significant note, the settlement was not attached to her email.I replied, at 10:28am that same day:The buyout contract needs to read that you are knowingly charging me full price for ads that ran for 6 months with the wrong Suite address.I also deserve an apology, in writing, for not having the misprint addressed properly and immediately after I pointed it out.I will get final approval of what the ad Will look like before it is print. It should be run in all of the communities that I was paying for ads, as **** told me each would pick up the article, which was another lie from him.It is appalling the way Best Version Media operates. There was no response to that email. The settlement was never sent.I re-emailed again on DEcember 13, 2023 stating:I have been waiting this past week for the contract. I need adequate time to review it.Please advise when I can expect to have it.There was no response to this email either.Today, December 19, 2023, I get an email from the "Senior Client Special Concerns Specialist" stating:We are in receipt of your BBB complaint. We disagree that you were told that the contract could be broken. We have previously offered a buyout settlement in the amount of $10,000, which was not accepted. Your account is currently being outsourced to collections. If you would like to reconsider the settlement, please let us know within 7 days.Thank you,I have had multiple email exchanges with the "Senior Client Special Concerns Specialist" trying to come to an agreement of BVM's willingness to fulfill their DEcember 8 offer, which I was clarifying and willing to accept; however, the "Senior Client Special Concerns Specialist" stated:I spoke with (Manager Client Special Concerns) and she said the settlement was sent to you. Since it was not signed and returned, we were unable to proceed. If you would like to proceed with the current offer, you have a copy of the settlement and can sign it in order to prevent progressing into hard collections.
Thank you,Basically, they made an offer which included an attempt to correct their mistake, they did not send the settlement, they did not answer my further questions/comments I sent by email. Now they are saying since I did not accept it, their offer does not exist. When I copied my responses on December 8 and 13 back to the "Senior Client Special Concerns Specialist" I received an "Auto Response" stating that the email was "no longer monitored on this email address. Please direct your Client Special Concerns inquiry to ****************************.Please note that your email will not be forwarded automatically."
Ironically when I emailed the email they gave me, asking if it was a "monitored" email, the response email from that was the same address as the "Senior Client Special Concerns Specialist."
Clearly BVM is giving me the run around, gaslighting me almost. I am very grateful to organizations like the Better Business Bureau for being a neutral party to situations like mine.

Hello, i am a small business owner in ********* **. Earlier this year i contacted a couple realtors in the area looking to expand my business. I came across a realtor called *************************. We arranged a meeting and she began to tell me that she wanted to pubish a magazine called ********* West Living in a very prestigious HOA community. She gave me a rundown of what seemed to be a very great business proposal assuring that i would be getting a lot of phone calls from anyone reading the magazine. She showed me statistics and even went as far as showing me how much money another vendor had made who signed up with her ad campaign. I went ahead and agreed and signed the contract in March 2023. The ad campaign was set to start on April 2023. It has now been 8 months and i have not gotten any phone calls as promised. Not only have i not gotten any work through this but i also have never seen this magazine. I reached out in July 2023 and addressed my concerns to the publisher. She was very adamant on the fact that i would be getting some business very soon. She tried to bribe me by saying she was a very successful realtor and not only would i be getting work though her magazine but through her *********** as well. A couple months go by and i reach out again hence the fact that her side of the deal is not being fulfilled. Once again i was bribed and threatened. She once again said she was a very successful realtor and that i would get referred that way. She then brought up the fact that i was in a contract with her and was forced to continue to pay her. I felt very discouraged. I reached out to BVM headquearters and spoke to *********, a manager. I addressed every issue with her and tried to come to an agreement but once again all i was left with was Youre in a contract you have to pay. No one seems to understand my concerns. Not only have i not gotten any business out of this but i have not seen a single magazine and have been lied to and robbed for my money.Business Response

Our branding solutions are effective because we take a repetitive, long-term approach. While we cannot promise how many new customers will walk through the door, we can guarantee that our magazine sponsors will be seen every month by local readers. Our team has attempted to work with our client to resolve this situation and we hope to find a resolution in the near future.Customer Answer

I do not wish to settle with the business because they have not completed their part in any of the agreements. They only offered to not make me pay the remainder of the term on the contract however there is only about 2 months left. They just charged my credit card AGAIN after i told them i did not authorize further payments. They continue to run me for my money. I dont think it is ok for them to make me pay the price for my side of the agreement when they have not kept theirs. They have lied to me multiple lies telling me that the magazines were delivered, that i would be getting copies soon as well as a tracking number. I got ONE which was the latest edition. I do not know of the existense of other the other magazines that i have been paying for with my hard earned money. I demand a full refund for all of the lies i have been sold. I do not wish to settle on their terms. I will only settle and sign their agreement once i get a refund.Business Response

Our client was offered the opportunity to cancel their agreement but they do not wish to move forward. We have provided tear sheets showing the print ads ran according to the agreement, and our local rep has included our client on the magazine's monthly distribution list. We will continue to work with our client to provide the branding services that were agreed upon.Customer Answer

The business only sent out a pfg file with a page of what the ad campaign would look like on the magazine. I have not physically seen the magazine itself for the previous months other than the January edition that i recently got in the mail. Attached are email screenshots that prove that i have been promised copies since prior to October however i didnt recieve any. As you can tell in the emails there is always an excuse from BVM and ***** herself. A lie as to why i havent gotten them. I have been made believe that i would be put in the mailing list since October and they have just recently added me due to the BBB complaint. Not because the genuinely intended to do so.Aside from the lies being told about the magazine itself i am not satisfied with their offer. All they are offering is an opportunity to cancel the ads. I wish to cancel but i wish to get a refund for all of the money spent. I was promised business from the very beginning. I addressed my concerns to ***** however she would just say to wait a few more months. This is causing me financial hardship. I have paid more than $2000 for a complete lie.

I started an agreement with this company in August 2023. At the time, it seemed like it would be a good advertising structure to use. Fast forward to now, I haven't been happy with the ads and what they showed me as far as numbers and impressions didn't add up to what I was seeing. I actually contacted my designated rep today for my area due to needing to cancel because of financial hardships within my business and they said that cannot happen because the main office owns the accounting department and cannot ***** that. I'm literally having a financial hardship so the only option they provided me was to see how I can condense my plan but that they will not ***** me a full cancellation because they "operate essentially like a franchise and my *********** owns the Accounting, Production and Printing/Distribution aspect of my business (as well as other services). There are in excess of **** magazines in North America and we operate as any business does as far as contracts are concerned." I've never had an issue with canceling an advertising I've done in the past so this was very shocking to me. I would like to be released from this agreement because I literally cannot afford to continue. You can't get money from a business that could potentially close and is trying to save itself all because of an advertising agreement! Due to the response I received in a crisis, I would not want to continue to do business with a shady company like this. After reading several complaints, I know this is just how business is done and doesn't sit too well with me. I would like the company to do the right thing and cancel my contract as I cannot afford it anymore. There should be a clause in situations like this.Business Response

We deliver a monthly impressions report to our clients so they know how many eyes are on their digital ads each month. Our local rep has even delivered this report to our client to ensure their ads are being seen. This was in addition to the email copy that has been delivered each month. Our team aims to work with any clients who may be experiencing difficult financial circumstances. In this case, our rep offered to downgrade our client and lower the monthly cost of advertising. We have honored our side of the commitment that was made and we hope to work with our client moving forward.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. I literally stated that I cannot afford ANY downgrades or continued charges of sorts as my business is in a financial crisis. I need all funds I can relinquish to go towards those efforts. They didn't even acknowledge any of that. If a downgrade was feasible, I would've taken that option and not come here to complain. I need to cancel due to a hardship and that part is being ignored. If a cancellation cannot be provided then I will have to proceed in another direction.*******************************

I do not agree with a no cancellation policy and they refuse to send the full notice of the agreement after asking for a copy for my records multiple times. Screenshotting what was signed but not sharing the full agreement is absurd. Regardless of explanation, they continue to assume their local guide thoroughly explained everything and instead they continue to go around in circles on anything else and ignore that their franchise partners are not relaying the information in full. Instead they choose to argue and harass me instead while not providing proper information that I can see on my end. Preying on small businesses. What exceptional customer service they lack. If a business cant continue to afford something, running them into the ground wont change the fact of the outcome. This company is a scam. This matter has been forwarded to my attorney so theres nothing else to discuss as we clearly arent going to reach an amicable conclusion.
Best of Luck,

Approximately 1.5 years ago a representative from Best version Media made an appointment and met with our office manager. During that meeting they obtained a signature from my office manager for a three year contract. My office manager was not authorized to sign this on behalf of my company and left the company shortly thereafter. I never would have authorized a three year contract. Once I discovered this I met with their rep who proceeded to give me the same high pressure pitch my office manager got. I decided to try the advertisement for a period of time. The publication, neighbors of the Ranch, turned out to be brand new, there are very few other advertisers and the publication itself is thin and anemic, and the content is poorly produced and generic. This ad has not performed at all. I reached out to Best Version Media about a month ago requesting to cancel the ad considering the signer was not authorized by me and my overall unhappiness with the ad, they flatly refused. I feel strongly that their ad selling is high pressure and deceptive, and there is a ton of online complaints about them.Business Response

In May 2023 I was approached by ***********************, Representative of BVM regarding placing an Ad for my business in a local magazine for the months of June 2023 and July 2023. When the months in question passed and it was August 2023 my credit card was debited $744.00 to which I called BVM and told them this was incorrect, that I was only to pay for June 2023 and July 2023, they told me that I was incorrect and sent me a copy of the contract that I actually signed but was not made aware that the contract and its content because, I didn't see the contract nor had I received a copy of the contract. When I read the contract after I was given a copy of the contract, I had noticed that the contract was to expire July ****. This was the first time I had seen the contract. I did not know this because I had not seen the contract prior to signing it. On October 2023, I was given the contract after I filed a complaint with BVM. I tried to cancel my contract with BVM but was not allowed to cancel but instead they **** up an updated contract modifying the length of time of the contract to May **** with the payments remaining at $744.00 (120 Digital Ads/$624 Print Ads), I did read and sign that contract agreeing that my contract would end May ****. Today, December 1, 2023, I was notified by my credit card company, *********** that a payment of $1608.00, not the contract amount of $744.00 was debited by BVM. I contacted BVM today December 1, 2023, a.m., and was notified that they would have to do some investigating and call me back. I have not received a call from any representative from BVM yet. BVM still does not make it clear in its modification, the first bullet does not indicate when the 12 months start and when it ends. We discussed that the 12 months will start May 2023 and will end May ****. Furthermore, the second bullet does not indicate the monthly payment of $744.00.Business Response

In May of 2022, I met with a rep from Best Version Media about advertising my real estate business in the North **** Neighborhood magazine. I was not given a copy of the contract to read, but the rep instead read from a digital device. I asked specifically about cancelling and was told I could cancel, but may have to pay a fee to do so. I was direct in that I am a **** employee and do not represent my firm, nor did/do I have the ability to enter into contracts on their behalf. I was told the contract would be in my own name. I had to sign on the device without having the ability to read everything. I received a copy of the contract a week later and saw that the name is still the firm name and that they have a "no cancel" clause. I did submit my ad and participated in a few articles, but was dismayed by the rampant grammatical and type-o errors in the articles. The publisher offered to write a cover story about me and my business. The draft I received had many errors in content and grammar as well as some paragraphs repeating throughout the article. I re-wrote the article and sent it in. The publisher did not use that, but used their own which included many errors including the misspelling of my name! These errors not only render the publications useless for my marketing, but they damage my reputation and my business brand. After complaining, the publisher stopped sending me any copies of the magazine and for 12 months I have not received anything. I asked to terminate the contract and the company refused.Business Response

The only time this company trys to work with me is after I complain multiple times and dont pay my bill, then they respond. My rep disappeared for over 8 months, thaen after contacting the BBB she sends me an email. how is that fair?after I complained they claimed that they provided proof.witch was a file (picture of my add) that I couldnt access until I complained 3 more times. It in no way is proof of anything its just a file of my add that supposedly was sent out. How is that proof?
I have still yet to receive any copies of the magazine since march of 2023.
what do they mean fair for both parties? I havent seen any real proof of my add being in their magazine or any copies of it that they said I would receive monthly. My rep that abandoned us claims she mailed me duplicates a few weeks ago and Im still waiting for them. Or she lied?they want me to pay on time but they cant even complete the most basic part of our agreement. A fair outcome in my opinion would be to stop charging my card and cancel the agreement . Ive paid thousands of dollars and have not received any business from the add or proof that its being mailed out. How is this fair?

Im still waiting for the past editions that were supposedly mailed to me. ******* told me this twice at least once in an email, were still waiting for any copies to arrive. How is this customer service? 8 months or more of zero interaction. You make claims with zero proof of where and how many you sent out. The only time you respond is when I file a complaint and then you try to blame me because of your inadequacies. This is the exact reason I dont trust anybody in advertising anymore, you dont care about my business or my community, youre just here to squeeze more money from small businesses. I get better treatment from ****** a huge multi billion dollar company. Why wont you cancel my account? This operation is by far the worst customer service in my life. Thank you for teaching me to not trust your kind of business or anyone in your industry.
Regards,

I was approached by a sales rep from this company and thought to advertise with them. She told me they would be starting in January then in October she pushed it to December and then informed me that I had a three-year contract signed with them. I do not wish to advertise with this company for more than one reason.. first and foremost, I found out some information about the sales person that works for that company, and for those reasons I choose not to do business with them I have sent a letter to the company regarding that personal issue rather than putting it on the BBB website. The sales person then began berating me over text and being completely unprofessional. I have not submitted a single advertising word to this company and do not wish to be in any contract with them for one day much less three years.Business Response

Since we signed on a year ago, we have been consistently disappointed in this service. The lack of talent or idea generation from your ad team, the lack of communication from anyone regarding deadlines we need to meet compliance requirements, the *** targeting the east coast (uncovered by my teams investigation), zero transparency into where our *** money was going, the lack of any support on the front cover design (zero communication for 3 months now) and the general inability to manage expectations. We weren't even warned of the "featured partner" section where your company personally edifies our competition in the same magazine we pay you to be in.Business Response

Our client agreed to both print and digital advertising services after our local rep clearly communicated the terms to them. We worked our client to cancel their digital ad agreement early despite honoring our side of the agreement that was signed. Our team also attempted to work with them prior to their last print edition. It's unfortunate that our client decided to misrepresent our business despite our efforts to resolve the situation.
