I purchased a used engine, with ****** miles, for a 2013 vehicle on April 13, 2023, from Southwest Engines, for over $7,000. I found the company online. The engine came with a ****** mile/5 year warranty. After the engine was installed, it quit three miles after leaving the shop. The car was hauled to an auto repair shop, where it still sits. Southwest Engines was contacted concerning the warranty. The auto repair company submitted the repair bill of $5897. We have continued trying to contact Southwest Engines concerning the repair however no one answers or if they answer they give you the run-around, send you to another person who sends you to someone else or disconnects you. Three different people in one day, said they were transferring me to someone that could help me. All three people hung up on me. I have left message after message and no one has called or emailed me concerning this repair. This has been going on for two months. The auto repair company received an email last week stating the case had been closed. The case should not be closed because we have an engine that doesn't work, for which we paid the warranty. On August 6, I placed an online order with Quality Used Engines for a **** Saturn SL2 engine. On August 8, I received an email stating there was a **** day shipping window. On August 18, I received an email stating the shipment was delayed. On August 23, I canceled the order. On August 24th, I received an email from the shipper (*************************, who oddly signed his email as ****) stating they put the shipment on hold because they were informed the order may be canceled. I confirmed with him via email that I did in fact, cancel the order and asked for contact info to request a refund. I also called the main number on multiple occasions inquiring about a refund and was hung up on each time. They wouldn't even attempt to hear the possibility of refunding me, nor did they attempt to transfer my call to a different department who deals with orders and refunds. Just straight hung up. I finally called and opted to speak with customer service without mentioning a refund, and asked if they canceled my order, and they confirmed they had. On August 25th, despite notifying multiple channels that I wanted this order canceled, I received an email stating the engine had shipped. 2 days AFTER I canceled! I even received a phone call from R+L asking when they could deliver, and I told them that I canceled the order, to which they said they'd return it to the merchant. I decided to open a dispute. Since then, I attempted to reach out again directly to customer service about a refund, but they told me they couldn't process it until I dropped the dispute. Based on online reviews of the company, it appeared that others have dropped a dispute in anticipation of a refund which they never received, so I chose to leave the dispute open. Today, Sept. 20, I received an email from Cashapp, who's services I used to make this purchase as well as open a dispute with, stating that my dispute was denied. I feel this decision is unreasonable, especially since I never received the item, nor a refund.Business Response

I bought an engine from these people for $1,345.00 on April 4, 2023. It was told to me that the engine would be shipped within ***** days. It finally arrived on April 27, 2023. It was on the pallet sideways and when we set it upright and took out a spark plug and oil came running out, the engine was no good. We contacted the company right away and could never get a response about sending a different engine and then suddenly they didn't have an engine and would pick up the bad one from us. That was around May 13, 2023. We finally got a shipping order to be given to the driver when he picked up the engine. They finally picked up the engine around June 27, 2023. I called to tell them and was told that when they engine got to their warehouse they could release my refund. That was around August 10, 2023. I have yet to receive my $1,345.00 refund. I have called 3 days a week and all I get is *******************' voicemail. He is at extension ****. Please help me! I even called begging for my refund when my dad was in the hospital in ******* so I could go see him before he passed and never heard anything back.Business Response

I have been fighting with them for few months now, one person tells me that they will send a replacement, next one tells me something completely different and its like playing that game in elementary telephone an by end of it the whole message is something different, I have waited over a year to get my car fixed so that I may use it for work again, my aunt bought a motor from them no problem an waited until motor was installed to put warranty on there like she read an I read as well, this is why I went to them for the fact I had to wait til installation NOT delivered cuz no one knows when the shop will get to your car, but anyways when I the shop got the motor they installed an tried to turn car on but motor did NOT work, same day they told me I put in for a replacement on warranty, this has been nothing but a struggle an stressful, all I want is for them to do right by their customers an not try and rip us off! I did everything the warranty department told me to do an they said they would replace it (first few phone calls) then when I called an checked on replacement/refund things changed, no longer was I getting a replacement or refund $1600 seemed the more I called an checked on how things were going the more they changed stories. I just want this company to do right, I dont have $1600 more just laying around to buy another motor I barely get by as it is right now

On 4/25/23 I purchased a used motor from this company for a Jeep Patriot. The motor I was quoted was supposed to be an excellent motor with approx. ***** miles on it with a 5-7 day estimated shipping date. The motor itself was not shipped until the end of May. When I finally received the motor it was not for the vehicle I gave them the *** # for and the motor was not an excellent motor. It had water damage and the spark plugs left in it showed way more miles wear than *****. I filed a warranty complaint. Called the company multiple times and eventually after being told they did not have the motor I was quoted they sent me an email with a shipping label to return the motor. I have reached out to this company multiple times via phone and email for my refund. I have filed a dispute with my bank, however the bank has been unable to help. I finally spoke to Rev in the warranty department who asked me to send the paperwork saying the bank closed the dispute and then they would be able to issue me a refund. I did this on 8/21/23. Still not reply. I resent the paperwork on 9/1/23 via email. Still nothing. I called again the other day and spoke to **** from the warranty department, who promised to escalate this to the warehouse and said I would get an email or call me within the next 24 hours, but no one ever has reached out. It has now been 5 months and I am still trying to get my refund.Initial Complaint

Purchased an engine for a 2009 ****** 360Z for $2150. Was told engine came with a 5-year/50k mile warranty. Paid local mechanic $2200 to install. Engine did not run from the start, and this mechanic could not figure out why - suggested I take to ****** dealer. The car has been with ****** for several months, incurring $1,000+ diagnosis. Am being told by ****** that engine sent to me from SW Engines was defective and will require an additional ***** hours plus parts to get running. Was just informed by SW Engines that they will NOT honor my warranty in any manner because I failed to activate my warranty within 10 days of the original mechanic receiving the engine!!Business Response

The complainant ordered an engine on 11/8/2022 and it shipped out on 12/2/2022. The complainant alleges the engine did not run from the start.
The specific sections of the Terms and Conditions state as follows:

After review, it was determined that the complainant never did activate the Free Warranty within 10 days of delivery. The complainant also never made a warranty claim on the engine. Since the Free Warranty was never activated within 10 days from delivery, the Free Warranty is void per its Terms and Conditions. Since the Free Warranty is void, any past, current or future warranty claims will not be approved. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I purchased this engine over the phone for almost $2400, and was explicitly told it came with a 5-year, 50,000-mile warranty. I spent $2200 to have the engine installed by a very reputable service center. The engine failed to ever run correctly. Several weeks were spent by this service center trying to diagnose the issue before they finally gave up and recommended I take the car to a ****** dealer located in a nearby town. The car barely made it to the dealership. This dealer spent several months trying to diagnose the problem before finally determining the engine is defective with some sort of timing related issue requiring $6,800 to repair. While purchasing this engine, there was NEVER any mention of any ridiculous stipulation that the "warranty" was completely null and void if not "activated" within a very short number of days after the service center received the engine. The first I ever heard of this was when I contacted the company after the dealership told me the engine was junk and recommended it be replaced with another engine.
I whole heartedly believe this company's behavior on this matter borders, at the very least, on criminal. After reading many reviews after the fact, it seems quite clear MANY of their former customers agree.
I hope there is something more the BBB can do to to resolve this matter. If not, I intend to contact the State ************************ as well as as an attorney to seek legal recourse in this matter.

I searched for a remanufactured engine and spoke to the sales team at *******.com. Was told that they didn't have any remanufactured engines but pointed me to used.******* as they "had" a used engine on hand. After following up with them many times, the engine was finally shipped on 8/30 and I received a tracking number. On 9/5, I received a phone call from a third party firm stating that the engine/packaging was damaged in shipping. Then received status that the engine was being returned. Cannot get a hold of anyone from Used.******* via email or phone. Have sat on their 'shipping' phone number for at least an hour 2 different times.
