A used engine (300-08007E) was purchased on 7/7/23 for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee for $2,895.00 (Invoice#******). **************** was great on the phone and assured us once the engine arrived to ************, it could be fully inspected, and if we were unsatisfied, we could send the engine back for a full refund. She also mentioned the engine comes with a 5-year warranty. Fast forward a couple weeks, ************ received the engine, took it out from the box and did a full inspection. Upon inspection, he found a leak in the engine and sent us photos. As a good and faithful mechanic, he told us we shouldn't install the leaking engine, and to send it back to SW Engines. We contacted SW Engines to tell them about this problem. They told us to fill out a warranty form and the engine would be picked up within 48 hours. They said they would either send the engine through their warranty department to fix the leak or send us a refund. A week went by, and the engine was never picked up from ************'s shop. We called SW Engines to request an update and ******************* says our ticket (#******) has been closed and there will be no replacement nor refund as their warranty does not cover oil leaks. SW Engines sold us a defective engine and will not give us a refund when their customer support (at the time of ordering) said we could request a refund if we were unsatisfied with the engine after we received and inspected it. At the very minimum, WE SHOULD GET OUR REFUND OF $2,895.00.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[I fully understand their warranty **** does not cover oil leaks. But this used engine was NEVER installed into our vehicle. Upon inspection of the engine ************ told us it was leaking and suggested to send it back. This company sent us a faulty engine, and we have returned the engine (using their shipping company), and would like a FULL REFUND! If they disclosed to us this engine was leaking, we would not have paid for it. All car fax and photos show/said engine was in good condition. This is not a warranty issue. This is a faulty product they sold that we never installed and are sending it back.]

[We have already sent the engine back. Over a month ago!! And your team has failed at responding to our 7 follow up emails regarding our refund. You have our $2895 plus the returned engine (since we never installed it.) This is terrible how you are handling business. Additionally, we are still requesting the full balance. Your customer service rep sold us on a defective engine and never mentioned it had a leak or that leaks were not covered in the warranty. She was very adamant about us inspecting it before we installed it and said if we were unsatisfied we could send it back for a FULL REFUND! She NEVER said anything about a 25% restocking fee. This is absolutely ridiculous and we do not accept. Please send a full refund so we can close this matter. If this needs to be escalated to your supervisor or manager - please get them involved and them call the number on file. ]

On 4/27/23 I purchased 300-71341B 2013 SCION FR-S ENGINE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (INV416990) from ******* for a total amount of $5745.00 ($5395.00 for the motor and a $350.00 core charge). Their paperwork says the product will ship within **** business days. On the 12th business day (05/16/23) I received an email from ******* stating the shipment would be delayed. The email stated there was a SLIGHT DELAY". How much is a slight delay? A day, a week, a month? How long does one have to wait for their product to not be charged a fee? On the 15th business day (05/19/23), I cancelled the order because ******* did not deliver on their allotted ship time, nor could they provide me with a ship date. I waited more than enough time. I would never have cancelled the order had the motor been shipped within the time frame they themselves said the product would ship. The PRODUCT NEVER LEFT THEIR FACILITY, and therefore the cancellation fee should be waived. I feel this is very fraudulent of ******* to even consider charging me a 25% cancellation fee of $1436.25 when they are at fault for not shipping the product within a timely manner. THAT IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO CHARGE A CUSTOMER FOR A PRODUCT THAT WAS NEVER RECEIVED! They are running quite the **** and I cannot believe that they are still allowed to operate.

Purchased on 6/29/2023 from SW Engines a ***** engine in the amount of $3,120. I paid a certified auto shop $1800 to install this engine. I noticed right a way the water pump was leaking which lead me to run a *** check on the engine. The *** reported 3 owners not 1 and the miles reported were 170K not 64K almost 3 times what was guaranteed in the purchase. I have reached out to SW Engines via phone ************. Spoke to Rev with claim ****** on 8/7 (original claim filed 7/27/2023) and they were escalating the ticket. Received an email yesterday stating the water pump isn't covered. The problem is the false advertisement on the engine mileage. I would've never paid $3,120. for an engine with 170K miles. I am looking for a huge price adjustment if not a full refund. The engine is in my car. If I need to remove it they need to incur that cost. Most calls are un-answered or voice mail is full. I am now looking for assistance from the BBB.

Invoice# ****** 6/6/23 I called to make the claim that the engine was shot 7/13/23 Called warranty department was told the engine was in shipping 7/17/23 Called warranty again due to lack of an update of any sort they said there had been no changes or updates on the warranty that was filed more than a month ago. Due to the lack of communication I decided to do some digging on the validity of the company and had I done my research before purchasing I would have gone elsewhere, because I've found many complaints. About no communication and the selling of bad parts. After the service I've received I can confirm the complaints to be a matter of fact. I paid **** for the engine and it blew up in a span of 2 months they finally sent the new one but they sent it to the wrong place and tried to make me pay to have it sent to the right place. They only fixed it after I threatened legal action and now that I've hurt their ego there trying to claim I never activated the warranty which I did. because If I didn't we wouldn't be at this point right now in the email it claims that if the warranty is not activated within 10 days of the engine being installed all warranties are nullified yet they still sent me a warranty form which I filled out now there saying it's a parts only warranty which makes zero sense

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  If you guys consider a timing chain as a bolt on part that's just crazy talk. No where on my invoice does it say anything about a oil pan. It actually states If u guys want the mechanic to pull the pan and look for timing chain guides they are willing to do that. This business is very unprofessional and should not be selling motors. The milage they claim are on the motor are actually false. The warranty they offer is trash doesn't cover a single thing and they just ignore ur calls or say they are gonna escalate your claim to the manager and u should hear back that afternoon or the next day. All around a business that has several different websites that operate under the same building. And also has pending lawsuits against them. Per your own warranty guidline a timing chain is a internal lubricated part that should be cover.

She said I will send you the email to do that-----I received the email filled out the request, in fine print it states that I will be charged a 25% restocking charge.---I read reviews on the company to late, should have done it before I ordered, I don't believe there was ever a motor to ship and should not be charged a restock fee. The cancelation said they have to review and process this request. At this time, there is nothing further we need from you. I paid with a bank card, took a business loan to do this job for the customer. Help me please they owe me $3730.00.

Oh thank you very much for your swiftness. In this matter, they did refund me over 25% of this purchase. They are claiming that the 25% is a restocking fee. I do not believe that, because they never had this engine unstocked, or in route to me, it never reached shipping. So, for that reason I should be returned my restocking fee, for there was no restocking to do. They charged me 930 ********************** my opinion, they owe me a lot for the job that I lost due to this company.

when I made this purchase, I assumed I would get an engine. They claim they were with in the shipping window and they were not over the shipping window. There was never anything in the first purchase that stated that there was a 25% restocking fee. I do admit there was one on getting a refund. I have looked up this company online. They have sent bad engines to people and they have taken back this 25% restocking fee. I dont believe they had any intentions and sending me a motor. Every time I called, they lied to me, hung up the phone and then sent me an email that stated its on delay. This is a scam people need to know this is a scam.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This motor was to be shipped with in 14 days **** it was delayed.  I canceled the order due to the phone calls said it would be shipped with in the next two days.  I hung up the phone and within an hour later received a delayed email.  When I called back, they said the shipping manager would call me back.  I never received a call back.  I again called and was told "sorry, I just spoke to him it will be shipped soon" . I then went on the net and found, many reviews stating that engines came a month late, the engines were no good, one even said it never came and when the asked for their money back they did the same thing charged them 25% and said it was ready for shipping.  The State of ********* said they went to the company, and it was nothing but an office.

I don't believe that I was ever going to receive this engine or when i did, receive one it would have been below the spec's that they advertised. I never knew about the 25 % charge until I canceled, and it said restocking fee, you cannot restock something you never had to ship to me in the first place.
