1 starI ordered a $4000 dollar garage door, which had a 20 week lead time. Before ordering, I asked an associate in the millwork department if they could hold the door if we were not ready. I was told that would not be a problem.
Fast forward...I arrived at Menards to pick-up my door and they couldn't not locate it. The front end manager was able to determine that I never picked it up. Obviously because I was there then. He passed me off to another associate in millwork to try an search one last time. It was not located. He offered to reorder or refund. I told him that I wanted to see if I could get it from Lowe's or Home Depot faster.
I came back in the following weekend to request a refund. This is where I had the pleasure (sarcasm) of dealing with the General Store Manager, Nick, to resolve my issues. He was not able to do anything (i.e. find my order in the system). He told me that he would have to call corporate. He said the door probably got "liquidated" since I didn't pick it up. I asked why didn't you call. His response was that we don't call, we send emails. This was a bold faced lie because my father-in-law did the exact thing as me and they called him multiple times (phone numbers and voicemails to prove it).
Today, I got an email from the store manager giving me two options:
1. Reorder the door and try to expedite the 18-20 week lead time, but no guarantees.
2. Refund the money with a 25% re-stocking fee. Basically, I settle with giving up $1,000 for a mistake that Menards made. Restocking? There is nothing to restock. The door is not in my hands or Menards. What is there to restock?Review fromSerrena E.

1 starPurchased 800 dallor washer on September 15 2022. It’s defective and not working properly. Was on vacation this past week. Asked Menards to replace with new one. Was told by manager it’s been 5 day over the return warranty and the washer I just got was discontinued. Obvious customer satisfaction is not top priority. The washer ruined all our New merchandise that we purchased from the game in super hot water and shrunk all our clothes. 300 dallors worth! Very disappointed in Management at Portage. Will not spend a dime at Menards again. Very sad! Who wants a washer that breaks in 35 days? You guys could have replaced with something else in your store and wrote it off as defective!Review fromSusan S

1 starBUYERS BEWARE ON CUSTOM ORDERS!! In September 2022 I custom ordered a counter top for my sewing room. Counter top was really warped and we didnt think it was good enough to install. Took it back and showed them how warped it was. They said this does happen sometimes but the Menards policy is not to refund the whole amount if you dont try installing it. So since I didnt try installing it, I was charged a 25% re-stocking fee. Really poor quality and even worse customer service!Review fromCharles S

1 starI purchased 23 cedar panels and a neighbor did the install while I was unable to work because of surgery to my neck. I never got to examine product myself and it was up before I even knew how bad the panel were. 8 panels were unacceptable. I followed the complaint process but the only way was for me to tear down all bad panels and return them to store. This was not acceptable. I do not even have a truck to do the hauling. I will never purchase another thing from Midwest Manufacturing nor Menards. Neither would help me out at all. I even requested them to give me the rails and slates so I could at least fix the bad panels. This was not agreeable to either party.I will be doing all my business elsewhere since neither company stand behinds the product they manufacture or sell. So I am just stuck with a really expensive fence that looks like ****Review fromGregory E

1 starIn December of 2017 I purchased a Whirlpool Refrigerator from Menards for approx. $1600.00. At the time of purchase I was prompted to add a warranty for 5 years which I did, at which point I assumed that any issues with warranty would be addressed. In 2019 the refrigerator stopped working and was serviced with a used part! This September the unit began making a loud noise and after a day or two I called to have the unit serviced. I was told that the warranty was now covered by someone other than Menards at which point the runaround began. After finally reaching someone, via chat mind you, she sympathized with me, asked me a bunch of questions, eventually telling me that I could not be serviced until the unit went out (read the contract I was told). An easy out and shame on me for not doing so, but who does that at the register when you are being prompted during a purchase? This wreaks of bad business practices for all companies who use this ploy only to throw it back in the customers face when the need arises. In total dismay of the response I continued to reach out for management on this issue only to be told by a manager the same thing, in addition to "as the refrigerator ages, they are going to make noise, we cannot do anything. Well the unit went out, I immediately called the 3rd party service company, who promised that a service would contact me in 48 hours. After 96 hours I contacted the servicer who indicated that they do not service Whirlpool products. Reached back out to the 3rd party, who told me that might servicer had been changed at which point I asked to speak to a manager which I am still waiting to do. Late last night I received an email from a new servicer which provided me with tracking information. The comedy of errors continues, the tracking information from Guardian can't be accessed in the email. I have reached out to Desmond at Warrantech to assist in this matter to no avail. I recommend never buying an appliance from Menard's!Review fromkelly n

1 starBought a Troy built rototiller from Menards in Muskegon, Mi. Used for approximately one hour total. Shut off as instructed. Would not start again afterward. Tried everything to start again. Would not. Took it back to store for refund or exchange. Stated they would would not return or exchange because I had put gas in tank. My statement was "how else would you know if it worked." Looked on line and found that this was issue with this brand. Manager implied that he was aware of this but did not care.Review fromYvonna M.

1 starI bought a brand new Whirlpool dishwasher on Aug 15,2022. When I turned it on after installation, it flooded my kitchen floors under the cabinets. I had 2 different Appliance and Plumber to look at it. Costing me $295. For house calls. Both men said the power motor was used and burned out. I called Menard, they would not help me even though I had paid for a 3 year warranty up to $599.99 . They said I had to call Whirlpool. I was on the Phone for 5 hours waiting for Whirlpool. They sent out an Appliance Man who said I needed parts but the parts are not available . I called the Menard’s Protection plan and was told to go on line. I did and they told me that they do no longer have a protection plan since 2020. I had paid $74.99 for their Protection Plan on Aug 15th. Menard will not honor it. Said they can’t help me. Menard is scamming people with Refurbished Made Appliances made in India. Menard’s have 3 big Factories and the reasons their Products are lousy.Review fromAbby D

1 starTheir advertised rebates are a complete scam. Most of the time, I don't bother to try to get a rebate. However I have made 2 or 3 large purchases for which I completed the forms, as I should have received $100+ back. never once received a rebate. I will still shop there occasionally if I can't find a comparable item elsewhere, but NEVER expect a rebate.
