On March 5, 2024 I had SWAT Environmental install a radon mitigation system in my home in ******, **. After getting the system connected to electricity we let it run for a week and did the follow up test. My Radon level was still above the *** level of 4.0. I just ran a second test from 5/28 to 6/4/24 and the level was reported at 11, higher than before the **** system was installed.I've tried repeatedly calling **** and leaving voice mails asking for a call back with no response. I even had the Realtor who recommended them to me attempt to call them, with no response. My job # is 978385.I would like additional work done to resolve the Radon issue or a full refund.

My Radon level was 3.1 and I wanted to drop it below 2 and reached out to swat and they said their system would drop it to below 1 ! Paid them $1300 and their system was installed and the technician even gave me a test kit to check level saying they would fix the system if it doesnt drop the level. When I rechecked it it was 2.9 (margin of plus minus 1 ) so essentially the same level. Reached out to them and they said they didnt guarantee anything and my level was below 4 so nothing was needed to start with! Said I would have to pay for a new system drilled in a different place if I was interested in further reduction!

Sorry about your experience. We guarantee to reduce levels below the Environmental ***************** recommendation of 4.0. Radon levels can vary for a variety reasons, some of which include weather, ventilation, and where testing was conducted. This doesn't mean the system isn't working to prevent radon. We offer additional steps that can be taken to reduce radon levels. Please reach out if you would still like to consider any of those options.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The business agreed to install a system knowing that the level was below 4 to start with. When you call them they encourage you to install their system for level >2 . They list EPA number and WHO number of >2.7 as high radon level on multiple articles on their site. Their warranty lists that too and no where it says we only work and install if rado level >4 . Their warranty guarantees reduction of radon as low as reasonably possible. Since their system failed to drop radon in my house it is reasonable to agree it is a failed system. Again the system fails to drop radon level by even a single 1/10 of a point! Company is trying to get out of its responsibility like any other irresponsible and unprofessional company with no regards to its customers!

We installed a radon mitigation system for you which is what you paid for. We don't guarantee a specific level of decrease from our systems but rather only that we will get it below the *** recommended level of 4.0. Your home is below the *** recommended level of 4.0. As we have stated before, there are additional things we can do to try and get it even lower but those would come with a cost.

Seems this unprofessional business has problem with simple understanding! As stated in the previous reply the Radon level was below 4 to start with, the company agreed to install a system after I talked to them and they recommended it apparently just to charge money. The system failed to bring the Radon down even a tiny bit from previous pre installation level so it is a complete failure and a ripoff job!

the best part for the reader here is they still reply saying we can add more stuff or drill more  to bring down the level but it will come with an extra charge but we dont guarantee anything and we already failed you with the first system and you should trust us with new installation and pay us more money! This shows how very careless, dishonest and unprofessional this business is by treating their customers in this ridiculous way!

We had someone come out to assess the work needed on our new house we just bought and he made a very big mistake and did a sloppy job so our quote ended up being much lower than what the actual cost was. Then, a technician came out and did some of the work but wasn't able to complete the full job. We scheduled a follow up visit and the technician was a no-show. We scheduled another follow up visit and the technician never showed again. At this point we gave up. We are now going to have to hire a new company to re-do the work that was already done and will cost us thousands of dollars. We paid SWAT Environmental about $1400 to do half the job that we're now going to have to re-do. It was a terrible experience all around.

Sorry about the experience ****. I think there is a misunderstanding on what was and wasn't done. We came out to the home and sealed your crawl space which is what you paid for. You were going to retest before adding a mitigation system as some excavation work would be needed in order for us to install a system. We were waiting to hear from you until after the excavation work was completed.

SWAT Environmental installed a radon mitigation system at our house in January 2022. It stopped running in Spring 2023. We called them out to take a look for repairs, and the individual who came out from SWAT told us that it couldn't be repaired as it was because it had been installed improperly by someone who no longer worked at the company because that individual had apparently done improper work for other customers as well. In the process of looking at it, he disconnected/took it apart on the exterior. We were told that SWAT would make it right, but no one ever contacted us to come out and fix it. We gave them plenty of time to do this. In the Fall 2023, we contacted SWAT again. Another individual came out and confirmed that the system had been installed improperly and SWAT would make it right. Again, no one ever contacted us and SWAT stopped responding to our calls. We would appreciate it if SWAT would either come out and repair the existing system to code and proper function either for free or for a discounted price or at least provide a partial refund since the system was not properly installed in the first place.

I put an offer on a house and the inspection done on 11/23/22 showed radon level of 13.1. I hired SWAT Environmental Radon Mitigation Specialists to do an on-site consult on 12/19/22. During this consult, it was determined by the technician that a brand new system would have to be installed. ( The house came with a running radon mitigation system, but it was apparently not doing it's job as the level during home inspection was 13.1). I mentioned that I was not certain I wanted to do that. He then said " then you owe me $250 for the call". I felt threatened and gave permission to install a new system that was finally installed in January 2023. The post installation reading on 2/21/23 was 11.7. I advised SWAT on 3/7/23 that the new mitigation system did not work. The level was still too high. SWAT sent a different tech out on 3/8/23 who decided a "second tap" was necessary. He smelled like beer and his eyes were bloodshot and again I felt threatened. He installed another pump and now my basement looks like h*** with two pumps running outside my house making an awful noise for my neighbors who are only a driveway away. The reading after the second tap was installed was 13.4, worse than before they installed it. I called several times to discuss this issue, but they would not call me back. I would like a full refund of The money I gave to SWAT. The final reading was worse that the initial reading during inspection. They do not know what they are doing, sending intimidation workers to install pumps that are not necessary. They then disappear and will not return calls.

[Swat was made aware of their failure to mitigate radon to an acceptable level despite adding a second pump and then an additional tap. I asked them to call me re: this failure and they ignored my requests, therefore I have no reason to believe they can fix this situation. Anything short of a full refund is an unacceptable resolution. Without the refund my family and I remain exposed to high levels of radon daily.  SWAT has taken almost 1500$ and the radon level is higher than when I moved in.

I had to fix a defective seal that was spilling water. I called the company but no one responded until 4 days later. I had to call a ******* to fix the seal to stop the water from leaking, who charged me $265. I faxed a copy of the paid invoice for the ******* services to S.W.A.T Environmental and requested reimbursement. I called several times to ask if they would resolve this, and they do not return my calls nor answer by inquiry. This latest incident was the result of this company installing a radon mitigation system that was sucking up water instead of mitigation the gas below the surface of my home. The system was installed at the technician's choosing, and the company will not resolve the lack of radon mitigation for which I paid.

On 2-7-2024 SWAT Environmental ******************************************************************************************************** came to my home to install a Radon Mitigation System, the technician drilled into our wall and through the gas main. I had to call our LP provider and pay for an emergency service to turn off our LP and cap the damaged line. Invoice attached, paid by homeowner. The technician left without further instructions other than his supervisor ************************* would call me, When *** did not call I contacted the company and they had Dom call me.*** was both rude and did not offer any solution other than I had to take care of it. I explained to him that the repair would cost between 2k-3k. *** told me it was a 200 dollar repair and *** would not honor the verbal quote from ***** Oil and Gas.*** told me I have to get 3 quotes and I told him the property was a rental and we split our time between Md and NJ as we are caregivers to our elderly parents. My mom had a stroke and my wife's father died last Nov and we are the only caregiver for her elderly mother. At current we do not have a LP to cook and its been several days without the company reaching out to me for a solution. On Feb 9, I called SWAT corp and spoke ***** and he did not want to get involved and terminated the call without cause.SWAT has many BBB complaints and I fear they will not take care of damaging our home without legal action. By law this company has to "make me whole again" but thus far fail to act to repair the damage to our home.

As part of purchasing our home we required the seller to install a radon mitigation system due to high radon levels. The sellers realtor accepted bids and purchased a system (with guarantee) from this company. The system is not working and now they refuse to make the repairs. Our levels are on average 16. They should be 4 or below.

I had a radon mitigation system installed by Swat on my home shortly after purchasing my home. Come to find out, roughly a year and a half later, that they installed the system to close to the propane tanks outside my house which is a national electric code violation as well as a NFPA 58 code violation (both building codes the installer should be aware of). These issues made it so I could not get a propane company to fill my tanks. I contacted **** and tried to get them to fix the situation since it was entirely their fault. At first they said its not their responsibility to fix because the ** *** provides an exception for them to install their fan closer than the 10 foot distance required by the *** and NFPA. So I called the *** directly and was informed this is not the case. After arguing back and forth for an additional few weeks the service director for ** from Swat, *********************************, said all he would do is move the fan further up the vent stack to reach the 10 distance from propane tanks. I argued that I was assured when I bought this system the fan would be near the first floor not moved directly next to a bedroom that it vibrates the wall and makes it hard for my children to sleep. Unfortunately I was between a rock and hard place and agreed to let him move it up the vent stack since it was the only option he was giving me and without doing that I could not secure propane to heat my home. After I had that done I got call back from the *** and they said Swat was required to move the system the whole time or would face fines. I would like Swat to come move the fan to an appropriate location on the first floor level like I was explained the installation would be when I hired them at no cost to myself, as this entire issue is because they installed the system against national building codes. Also the service director *** was rude and unprofessional the entire time. I asked for a his superior many times w/ no response. Also he would call be rude on the phone

On 12/7, SWAT Environmental showed up to complete a Radon Mitigation system being installed. The individual arrived and accessed the basement to go over information about the sump pump lid being installed and determine the best location for the system. He asked if I knew where I wanted the system and I am not familiar enough to know what is best so I had asked him to use his best judgement. He said its normally by other outdoor appliances. I explained what wall the air conditioner was on and also showed him where the most recent furnace pipe had been routed to the side of the home. Since he was indicating it would normally go by the air conditioner, I told him I would be happy to move the bed on that wall. He said not to worry and he would check the outside. He never circled back to me to tell me where he was putting it and he ended up installing it on the side of the house where the furnace pipe was vented. Now, remember I asked him to use his professional opinion. I didn't know how big and awful it would look and this should certainly be something installed on the back of a house and not where you can see from the road. He installed a plexiglass cover over the sump pump but it is not sealed properly with silicone. We currently have water splashing up on the underneath side of the plexiglass and leaking outside it. This water is stagnantly sitting because it cannot drain. The installer also did not wear booties and tracked mud all over the basement floor. We have called to speak with several people about this issue and no one is willing to help. A gentleman by the name of ***** is the service supervisor. He has been extremely rude to us stating there is no one else to talk to above him and he can pass along a message to someone and they "might" give us a call back. No one has called. Another gentleman told us there is no one higher than ***** and they are owned by a private equity firm so there is nothing they can do.
