1 starOur communications with them have either been nothing from them or we are given the run around. We were supposed to fly to *** Friday afternoon. The flight was delayed once due to weather in *** understandably but was then delayed three more times due to maintenance of the plane until finally cancelled all together around 8PM. While this maintenance issue was going on several other Air Canada flights went out to *** at gates all around us. Their representatives said the next available flight was at 6AM Saturday and they would not be providing food or hotel vouchers or releasing our luggage. When we said that wouldn't work for us they all the sudden had availability on one of their 11PM flights. This 11PM flight was delayed twice because of a back log of planes so we did not get on a plane and into the air until after midnight. Once at our destination airport we discovered our luggage had not arrived and upon tracking it were told it was never put on our plane even though we confirmed 4x with Air Canada that it would get moved and if we needed to do anything to make sure that happened which they repeatedly said wouldn't be necessary and they would take care of it. So not only did we lose a day in *** but we also didn't have our belongings for the day we did arrive. We were directed to fill out online claim forms for reimbursement but have had zero follow up about the expenses we incurred due to lost luggage. We have also been told we don't meet the requirements according to Air Canada for reimbursement for the cancelled flight. Our time and money is of no concern to them and they instead offered us a 10% discount code for a future booking with them. The cherry on top is it was my birthday weekend and I got the worst travel experience of my life and dealing with the company now is extremely frustrating and going nowhere as they won't take accountability for their part in this.Review fromColeman N

1 starAir Canada cancelled our connecting flight home after a ************************************************* a different country. We were rebooked on an indirect flight home and issued a boarding pass. We were ultimately denied boarding because 3 hours was not enough time for Air Canada to get our single checked bag on to the plane and they would allow us to travel without our luggage. The support team had us running between customer service desks, had us calling support, rebooked us several times. I found the staff to be unequipped to handle our situation and we are disappointed in their attempts to remedy the situation. Our journey home totaled 37 hours once we arrived.Review fromqaz061

1 starCancelled our flight and put us on one over 12 hours later. According to their policies, we were entitled to 1000$ per passenger for waiting over 9 hrs. They would not even reimburse for the hotel. The customer service rep. told me to go sleep in the street.Review fromRobert E B

1 starI booked a flight threw Air Canada from ************************ Canada for a three day visit with an elderly friend who had just lost her husband. I left on April 15th - return on April 17th. I was really disappointed and frustrated with the service I received on my return flight. First of all, we were delayed for one hour - then when we started to board I was "singled out" and told I had to check my carry on bag. I tried explaining that I was diabetic and needed my carry on because I had my insulin on ice packs. I'm a Vietnam veteran who got "Agent Orange" poisoning while serving in ******* which caused type II diabetes. The VA hospital in ***** have not gone to the pen as of yet, so we are issued insulin in small vials which needs to be kept cool. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes impact air travel, but the way in which this situation was handled by Air Canada Airlines gate agents were purely "RACIST." I traveled to Canada with the same check in bag from ***** and had no problems...the plane was full both ways. Once I got on the plane I checked the overhead bin where I was sitting and there was plenty of room to place my carry on bag. The only great thing out of this incident was, a very nice Canadian man apologized to me for his country. Saying that he was so sorry this happened to me and that it is not the way his Countrymen behave. I accepted his apology. Too bad Air Canada Airlines don't have that same perspective. I noticed that Air Canada rating is ONE STAR - I wonder why? I also see that they never respond to bad reviews which tells you something about this Airline. Worst Airline ever...stay away!!!Review fromAnnette G

1 starI booked a flight threw Air Canada on April 24 th 2024 . We left with plenty of time but low and behold accident on 401 made us 2 mins late for check in still people checking in and after being sent to 3 different places we were then sent to a manager. After being called a privileged white lady he also lied to whoever he was talking to to on the phone and said we were 15 mins late. flight leaves at 8:55 this was 7:23 am while laughing in our face we asked what we could do was there another flight he then proceeded to tell us guess you'll have to find another flight there. My husband asked if air canada had one he said nope find another air line. Which we did . Air Transat were happy to get us a flight for 12:55 pm that day. we booked 1 way because we had already paid for round trip with upgrade I might add but we made it down to *******. The hotel was great but we thought we had better ask the Air Canada rep if there was going to be a problem. She told us no but be at the airport 2 hrs prior to flight no problem. NOW heres the kicker we show up at the airport where we are told we cancelled our trip and that there were no longer seats that we already paid for . I know right so they ended up telling us the only way we could get back home was to buy new seats they charged us almost ******* for seats that we already paid for and then when we get on the plane a man is sitting in my seat so I asked him when he bought the seats he told me his son bought them for him days ago. have to ask myself 1- why are they selling seats that were already paid for 2- why are their employees calling people racial slurs 3- if I have stayed in my hotel all week why did you sell my seat. 4- why would you sell me the most expencive seats on the flight when my husbands seat was empty???????? in total the trip bought on 24 April 3800. the extra flight down with Aire transat ****** the seats to get home ******* and YOU AIR CANADA wonder why you are the worse Airline well there is your reasonReview fromBoss M

1 starMy spouse and I had an Air Canada flight from ******* to ******* on April 11, 2024. We boarded the plane on time and sat on the plane for approx 30 minutes due to air traffic from a weather delay. After that we moved away from the gate to the runway and the pilot came on saying there was an issue with the wiper and we would have to go back to the gate for a repair which ended up taking another 90 minutes to get to an open gate. They took us off the plane and said the new flight would leave at 15:00 (6.5 hrs after originally scheduled). We got to the gate around 14:40 and the gate agent came on the intercom and said there would be another ***** minutes delay as they had to wait for the food and proceeded to laugh at a group of passengers that had already waited over 6 hours for their flight. The flight was delayed 7+ hours, I missed my meeting and had to stay until Monday. I submitted my expense for the additional hotel day and Air Canada denied it and have only provided a $400 for both my spouse and myself which is unacceptable. Horrible customer service and treatment of this situation.Review fromAlisa P

1 starHorrible experience November 2024 and my follow up with "customer service" afterward. Long story short: Due to the unnecessary delay in *******, *******, Air Canada stranded over twenty passengers in a city at 2am with no assistance and no luggage, then threatened to call the police if we did not leave. This was due to a three hour flight delay that was completely fixable, as well as the ** flight at the connecting airport leaving for the original destination. Air Canada failed to connect us with available flights that would take us to our destination and instead we had to wait two days in ********* (once again without our luggage). When contacted afterward, ** did not recoup our clothing expenses, the money that we already spent on lodging (and vacation tours/packages, etc) in ***********, and your customer service was lacking every step of the way. The simply met the legally required payment and showed zero effort in actual customer service.Review fromKingsley O

1 starI booked an Air Canada return flight from ******** to *****. I received an email from Air Canada to pay to have the bag checked into the ******** plane as I landed in ********, which I did immediately. On my return leg, I got my bag late from the Air Canada plane from ******** at ********. At the counter, I was told not to check it in and take it inside the plane because I may miss my flight or get the bag back after days. I could no longer check the bag in even after paying. At the security, I lost my body cream, expensive perfume, and toothpaste. These were the main reasons I paid to have the bag checked in at first. It has been about 2 months now and there is no word from Air Canada even though I filed the case with them. Can Air Canada make the refund for money paid for checking the bag in and my perfume, please?Review fromHilda T.

1 starI booked a refundable flight but when I cancelled it, they automatically gave me a travel voucher which I do not want. I've called them many times and sent them an email trying to to get my money back to my original form of payment but they don't care.
