Company sent me a collection notice for a parking ticket that I never received from 2017. First Ive heard of said ticket. I asked them for a copy as well as proof, and they refused to send supporting documentation. The lady was extremely rude and when I asked to speak to a manager, she wouldnt put me through. I feel like this may be a scam, but the letter and phone number came from Indigo they say theyre going to send the $110 to collections. For a parking ticket from 8 years ago? No proof? No previous letters? How could they try to extort someone by holding their credit hostage? Unbelievable. I asked to dispute and she hung up.Business Response

On June 21, 2025 I received a parking ticket (#*******) at 8:21 pm in *******, ******* at *************** (615). I parked, read the sign instructing to register my plate in the lobby. I walked around the multiple building complex trying to find the main entrance unsuccessfully. I walked back to my car to re read the sign and within that time frame of about 5 min, the patroller had given me a $75 ticket. I called the following morning to explain what happened to the Calgary office. The agent said she understood but could only reduce the ticket to $30. She said the patroller had no way of knowing that I hadnt been there for 5 minutes or 2 hours. I said I understood this, but I am telling you what happened in disputing the ticket. I believe this is unfair given the circumstances.Customer Answer

Hi, Indigo Parking told me I have to pay the $30 fine within 10 days. Or they will increase the amount. I’m wondering if I pay it before the 10 days if I do not hear a response from you within this time frame?Customer Answer

Thank you Camila. I will pay the $30 fine in hopes of being refunded by Indigo.Business Response

Good Morning,
This individual was parked on private property, registration must occur within the 7 minute grace period to avoid a notice.
As this notice has been paid it is now closed for dispute.

I am rejecting this response because:
I believe Indigo purposely waited until after the ticket was paid to reply to the BBB. As I advised the BBB, had I not paid the $35 ticket within 7days, it would increase dramatically. There was no guarantee it would be resolved before then so paying the $35 was the best course of action with hopes of being reimbursed. Now Indigo says it’s closed as it’s been paid. I’ve read numerous complaints from others describing this practice and I’m so disgusted a business like this can continue to operate in Alberta. It’s a shameful business practice.
Sincerely,

Good Morning,
Regardless of the notice being paid, registration was not completed at the time of the notice was issued, this makes the notice valid.
Furthermore, please see attached payment screen on the website that indicates all notice payments through the website are non refundable.
Everything has been explained to this customer and they agreed to the attached terms when they paid for the notice online.

Good Morning,
Unfortunately, this individual parked on private property without valid registration. Before we could offer them any sort of courtesy they became very abusive towards our staff.
We will not be discussing the notice further with this individual due to the treatment we received.

Notice ******* Parked Apr.3/25 at 8:07pm Notice said $75 if paid in less than 10 days, $95 if more than 10 days Paid Apr.12/25 around 10:45pm but sustem required payment of $95 When I called Apr.14 at 8am I was told it was my fault to make the payment when the Help Desk wasn't open, my fault for making the payment on the last day which might trigger an error. They acknowledged their system processes payments in ****** using EST, and their notices do NOT flag that to customers. They told me it was my fault they processed the payment as coming through Apr.13 just after midnight, processing it in EST instead of MST. I actually have a screenshot confirming when I was paying because their system is having problems erroneously freezing on the screen saying the payment is being processed. Which is why I called today trying to make sure I paid off my ticket. I was also told it was all moot because they have a no refund policy on payments and it is my fault for paying when the Help Desk wasn't ******** much of their profits come from these business practices?Presumably enjoying their monopoly on parking at my mother's long term care facility.Business Response

Good Morning,
This customer unfortunately waited until the final day to make payment and instead of reaching out and asking questions before making payment on an amount they did not agree with they made the payment. Unfortunately There is clear instructions on the website that indicate payments are non refundable.
If the customer had an issue with the amount and timeline they could have called us before making payment to clarify and we most certainly would have addressed the concerns and issues. But unfortunately now that the notice is paid we can not dispute it.
Issues about timing will be passed on to our support department, but it is always best to ensure notices are paid before the due date to avoid confusion.
Any questions, please let us know.

On January 26, 2025 I parked in the whiskey rose saloon parking lot number 235 owned by indigo. I used the app to pay for parking and got an email confirmation that payment had been received info by indigo. Unfortunately, I was not wearing my glasses when I used the app and inadvertently put my phone number in the spot where my license plate should have gone, and therefore I received a parking notice. The following day on January 27 I called indigo and advised of the misunderstanding and asked that the parking notice be waived since they had received full payment. The operator, whose name was ******, advised me that there was a ticket from five or six years ago that their records say was unpaid therefore they would not wave the current parking ticket. She did not provide me with any information about this old ticket and I have no way of knowing who the ticket belongs to.I subsequently wrote an email on January 28, 2025 explaining the situation and did not get a response. I followed up with a phone call on February 5, 2025 and was told to just keep waiting. Someone would get back to me by email. I received a letter in the mail on March 27, 2025, indicating that the balance due is $110 and if I do not remit payment in 10 days, the account will be forwarded to a third-party collection agent agency. On March 27, 2025 I made a third request by email for someone from indigo to communicate with me as well as phoning their offices and got no answer. However, I did leave a voicemail message. I am not paying this $110 because indigo received payment in full from me on the day I parked my car in their lot. indigo has no right to send this account to a collection agency and attempt to ruin my credit rating, since they have been paid in full. I would like assistance stopping them since they will not communicate with me directly.Business Response

Good Morning,
An Indigo representative spoke to this customer on January 26, 2025 advising that if she were to pay her outstanding notice from 2018 we would be able to assist with this newer notice where a mistake was made when entering the license plate. Our representative explained all photos and original notices can be viewed on our website.
Furthermore, there was no communication via the escalation email as stated, I personally oversee that email and I can not find anything from this particular email address.
The customer has reached out again last night around 5PM and left a voicemail. I the manager of the ***** services department will give them a call at 9AM and offer a courtesy of cancelling the newer notice if the older one is paid in full.
Any questions, please let me know.

On March **, 2025, my car was parked at Indigo Parking Lot 804 (***************). The Parking Permit was issued at ***** PM. $***** was paid and the expiry time was * PM on March **. The correct license plate is printed on the permit. (Attached.) I am filing a complaint against Indigo Parking due to an unfairly issued parking ticket on February 24, 2025, and their refusal to acknowledge a failure in their payment system.I attempted to pay for parking using the Indigo Parking app, but the app malfunctioned and would not allow me to log in. I requested a password reset and successfully received the reset email. However, after changing my password, the new password would not work, preventing me from accessing my account and completing the payment. I recorded a video of the issue as proof. There were no other parking options available, and I drove around multiple times looking for an alternative before having no choice but to park in the Indigo lot. I attempted multiple times to log in and pay, but the app continued to reject my new password.Despite explaining this situation to Indigo Parking and providing details of the app malfunction, they refused to cancel my ticket. Instead, they offered a one-time "courtesy" reduction to $35, insisting that the ticket was valid simply because there was no record of paymentcompletely disregarding the fact that I had actively tried to pay but was unable to due to their systems failure.I was ultimately forced to pay the ticket to avoid further penalties, despite being unable to comply with their payment process through no fault of my own.I am seeking a refund of the ticket amount and for Indigo Parking to take accountability for the reliability of their payment system. Additionally, I request that they improve their customer support process to provide real-time solutions for technical failures, so customers are not unfairly penalized for issues beyond their control.I have video evidence of the app malfunction and am happy to provide it as proof.Initial Complaint

On Oct 10th at 1:30pm I was ticketed.I paid $8.40 to Indigo parking and received a ticket within 30 minutes of the 2 hour time slot that I paid for.I arrived back at my vehicle while the Indigo *** was at it and he threatened to tow my car and had double parked me in the spot, not permitting me to leave for a short time after entering my car.I also attempted to contact you (Indigo) on Oct 10th at 2:34pm and was placed on hold for 6 minutes before being told to leave a message with the understanding that you would reach out to me about the issue.( I have not received a call back yet.) I have now called again on Oct 16th at 11:54am and wasn't given any help or options to deal with this ticket. I was told that it was a spot reserved for a third party and that I was not able to park there. The reserved signs used only say "Indigo, Reserved 5am to 8pm". There is no other indication that it is reserved for a third party within the hours of 5am to 8pm. I made the assumption that it was Indigo Park Canada *** that had the space reserved for paying customers like myself.I would like this ticket removed as there were no signs to indicate that the reserved parking stalls were for any other company than Indigo Park ****** is now past 48 hours when I was told I would receive an email that has not come. I was told to take this to the BBB so here I am.Business Response

Good Afternoon,
As explained previously by two representatives:
We have had the opportunity to review your parking notice *******, and we have verified you did process the registration. Unfortunately, you had parked in a reserved stall. These parking stalls are unavailable to all daily parkers within the hours from 5AM-8PM as someone pays high fees for the space to be available to them. Although this may have been a misunderstanding, your vehicle could have been towed. The notice is considered valid and will be required to be paid in full.
Our policy prevents us from reducing or voiding notice issued due to being parked in a reserved stall.
Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
There is proper signage indicating that it is reserved for a third party. The company is not a commissioned member of the magistrate and can not give out tickets. There is no court date on the ticket therefore no way for me to fight it. I keep getting met with the same response that I should have just known that the space in question wasn't for "daily parkers".

I am rejecting this response because:That sign was not in lot 257 on Oct 10th I went around the lot 3 Times to confirm. The day I received the notice.
the time between responding on the BBB website and the time it has taken you to respond to my calls and emails, has pushed far past the date in which the amount has gone up.
I can only assume you saw this as an issue and corrected it because in the picture you have sent the sign looks new.
Which also explains the long lengths in time where I have not received a response.

On July 31 we got a parking notice with no date and time outside the ********** restaurant, its supposed to be free with the business. We had proof we were there with a party of ten with two different receipts, the ticket says were were to register the car plates but there was no machine in the lot that and their sign looks like purple Indigo ( chapters bookstore). It was not near my rental vehicle and not visable to me. I wrote to the company and they reduced the fine but maintained we had to register our vehicle and they did not honour our receipts for the restaurant. They also state they will raise fine from $70-90 if you do not pay. We were tourists, had no idea this was the rule and signage was not obvious. Locals likely know about this but we did not. ( I wrote a second time to them and they never responded on August8)Business Response

Good afternoon,
Apologies for the confusion with this but at this location there are numerous signs indicating that registration is required. There is one on nearly every business entrance, including 5 in the immediate area around your vehicle, so we do really try to make it clear that registration is needed to park there. We cannot accept a receipt as an alternative to registering for parking. Regarding how to register, instructions are also posted on site to guide you.
In this instance we made every effort to ensure visitors were informed that registration is needed and due to this the notice issued is considered valid and will not be refunded.

I am rejecting this response because: I would dispute there are numerous signs telling you to register, and without a cell phone on hand, how was I supposed to do that? and even the business in question, after we left, told us to ignore the ticket as its not valid. Also as the sign is marked Indigo in the same color as the Indigo book store, I would dispute that is obvious especially to tourists. Locals for sure would know, but not visitors from another part of Canada.

Im reporting a matter of unauthorized issuance and collection of parking notices by a private firm (Indigo). I was issued a parking ticket for accessing a business-park parkade. The stall accessed however didnt have any signs that its being managed by Indigo or any other notices or signs that suggested Indigos relationship to the parkade. On reaching out to Indigo on the matter they seemed defensive about not having any signs at the concerned parking and threaten to tow my car from my place and otherwise, if ticket is not settled. Indigo couldnt establish their authority to collect parking revenue on behalf of the business unit either at the parkade or via email.Their threatening emails worries me.Its not a matter of paying for parking but about establishing that they are bonafide by the tenants to do so on their behalf which Indigo failed to establish and rather threatening to recover unfair parking fee which feels more like money extortion. I think they should withdraw my parking ticket, apologize and be more transparent in their business.Attachments:1. Picture of Parking stall 2. Parking Notice 3. Good afternoon,
I'm sorry for the confusion here, but there are several signs at the lot indicating that it is private property and that you are at risk of being ticketed or towed if you do not have the proper authorization to park there.
The specific stall you had parked was reserved and had also had signage that stated that it was reserved and that unauthorized vehicles would be towed.
As you had parked in someone else's reserved stall - which clearly indicated that unauthorized vehicles would be at risk of ticketing and towing - the notice issued to you is considered valid and cannot be waived.
Again I apologize for any confusion, but there are many signs at this lot which show it is a private lot, including the stall you had parked in, so we have tried our best to alert parkers to the requirements of the lot.

Complaint: 21711393
I am rejecting this response because:I think Indigo doesnt understand the issue. Its not any request or otherwise seeking to evade any parking charges but its about establishing who is authorized by the concerned business park to collect parking related payments.
The explanation provided by Indigo does not establish that they are authorized by the business park for collecting parking fare etc. The Tow away signage on the parked stall is not Indigos and no other visible signage were around my parking stall from the business park or Indigo suggesting that Indigo is managing parking for the concerned business park or any visible notice or a board suggesting the same.
Indigo is an unknown third party in this matter. I dont know if im bring charged by the right entity. A random company or a person should not be leaving a ticket on my car without prior disclosure and expecting me to pay.
Based on the parking signages on my stall, if a parking infringement is determined that that should be between me and the business park or the owner of parking stall#*** which is a separate matter altogether. Attached: Parking stall picture shared earlier.

Good afternoon,
I'm sorry for the confusion here but it is clearly noted at this location that it is an Indigo lot.
There are more than 10 signs on site indicating that it's private property patrolled by Indigo and that unauthorized vehicles are at risk of being ticketed and/or towed.
We've made a good faith effort to ensure that the rules of the lot are clearly indicated.

I am rejecting this response because:
Indigo couldnt substantiate what they replied.1. Can they share any proofs of signs they are talking about.
2. The initial correspondence from Indigo outside of BBB mediation could not provide proofs. They rather tried to cover up by providing pictures of a different parking lot. Upon seeking clarification they became defensive and closed the case stating that Indigo boards were not needed at the concerned lot. Attachment: Email communication was provided earlier with pictures.
Ive a video of the parking lot and pics in support of the matter but I would like to know from Indigo how can they substantiate their reply.
