Please note that we have looked into the information and upon review, we have found that the account has been paid in full. Also, please be advised that we have checked our credit reports and they are reporting correctly as paid.
The account is reporting correctly as paid in full, $0 balance. Collection items are not removed from consumers credit reports. They are updated to reflect the status, which in this case is paid in full. The account would reflect closed and paid in full. We do recommend that the consumer contact one of the major credit reporting agencies Transunion or Equifax for any credit reporting questions/concerns. We have provided the contact numbers below. Thank you.

Receiving calls multiple times a day, every day of the week and at all hours (one was incredibly late). They acknowledge the debt is not mine, and they want a phone number for the person the debt is for. However that person a couple of years ago suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury that resulted in multiple brain bleeds as well as diagnosed with cancer. I took over their finances since then and there is not a single bill that went unpaid. The person they anre harassing me for is almost 80 years old and actively dying from untreatable cancer. They were made aware of this, and they continue to keep calling my number. Which I do not even know how they obtained it. I asked them 6 times now to remove me from their call list as I never consented to them having my number in the first place and I have no outstanding or current business with them. They continue calling including a representative on the phone MOCKING me and saying great, well call later to speak to him.I have submitted to the BBB copies of SOME of the phone calls where I told them to remove me from their call list (x4 since August 2nd which was 8 days ago).

      Thank you for your communication.

Please be advised that we have reviewed the information and have found that we have been calling ************ within the approved Ministry business calling hours.

Kindly note that two conversations took place with our CBV agents.

The initial conversation took place on August 8th and our agent was able to connect with the consumers granddaughter. The granddaughter advised that we were calling her ************************************************************************** collections. The agent did advise that we would still need to speak with the consumer to be able to further discuss. The granddaughter advised that the phone number called was her number and the agent advised that we will need to call back later to confirm the validity of details were provided.

On August 9th, the second communication took place and our automated service was able to successfully authenticate the caller. Our automated service would request details to be confirmed from the caller such as their name, date of birth, etc. When the automated authentication process was completed, the call was transferred to one of our live agents here at ***. However, it was the consumers granddaughter that answered and advised that the consumer is experiencing personal unavoidable hardship. The agent did communicate that this was the first time that this information was being communicated to CBV. The caller requested for their phone number to be removed and the agent actioned this in our system and agreed to remove the phone number.

Kindly be advised that due to the above events and with the details provided by the complainant, we understand the consumers circumstance. We are very sorry to hear of the consumers situation.  At this point in time, we have placed the account on hold and apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused. We do take customer complaints very seriously and take pride and care when servicing our customers.

I am rejecting this response because:

I informed multiple agents and during the call being reference as the first call you left out how the agent yelled at me that he would be calling my number later in the day after I specifically informed them not to contact my number. After he stated he would in fact be calling I informed again do not call my number again. After that I received the second call in reference (with screenshots of those calls provided). The first call referenced by your response was also   witnessed and recorded at my place of employment. Your agents are miserable, and completely unprofessional.

I do not accept a simple hold, my number is to be indefinitely removed as you have also acknowledged this is not my debt and holds typically end ***** days after being placed.

      Sincerely,

I was first contacted by CBV in March 2024 by a man claiming they were trying to collect $9,288.34 in ****** debt from 2010. I was completely blindsided and I told him the truth - I NEVER lived at the address they had on file and I NEVER had an account with ******. I said in no uncertain terms that debt is NOT mine. He offered to e-mail me "proof" the debt was mine, but he never sent anything so I assumed it was done with. 5 months later, in August 2024, they call again. The lady I spoke to was now claiming that in my first phone call, I DID acknowledge the debt WAS mine and agreed to make payments, but they hadn't received any money yet. I'm SO angry; this is blatantly FALSE. It cannot be legal for them to lie this way! I have worked so hard to pay down my debts (either paying them off in full or going on payment plans) and repair my credit score. I acknowledge ALL debt that is truly mine. I told her the debt is NOT mine and was NEVER sent any supposed "proof" it was. She did send an email this time, but it was just a form letter with the amount I "owe" plus a list of ways to send them money. On not one but TWO recorded calls I said this debt is NOT mine, yet they are lying and saying I agreed to send them money?! This HAS to be against the law. Why are these calls recorded if they can just blatantly lie and say you've agreed to give them money for debt that's NOT yours?!No matter how many times I repeated this debt is NOT mine and her claim I admitted otherwise is a LIE, all she wanted to do was use scare tactics and threats to get money out of me (e.g. "You could just pay us $1,000 now and I'll close your file. But if I submit it as potential fraud and it comes back as yours, you have to pay us the full $9,288.34").I did what I thought was right by explaining to these people that yes, they are speaking to the person they're looking for but NO this debt is NOT mine. This has caused SO much unnecessary stress, I feel sick. I regret speaking to them at all.

      Thank you for your communication.

Please note that we have reviewed the account and have found that the ***** spoke with two of our *****s here at ***. The initial ***** spoke with the consumer in March 2024. The consumer was not aware of the mailing address listed on the file. The consumer also did advise that they were trying to re-establish their credit and would need some time to look into this. The consumer requested for the outstanding balance and the ***** provided the information. The ***** probed in regards to the mailing address with the consumer and the consumer stated that would need some time to consult with their spouse as the consumer could not recall the Original Creditor.

The second ***** spoke with the consumer on August 8th and advised the consumer of the account details. The consumer advised that they were not aware of the account and had never resided at the mailing address listed on file. The consumer did provide their date of birth and confirmed their identity. The ***** further explained the details of the account and provided when the account was opened and cancelled. The ***** also advised the consumer that there was a payment offered in the past as this was discussed on the previous communication of a promise to pay of $100. The second ***** did communicate to the consumer that we will have the account investigated by the Original Creditor. We have sent an inquiry to the Original Creditor on August 9th to confirm the consumers claims. At this point in time, the Original Creditor has not responded yet.

As an added layer, the consumer can also file a police report if they believe they are a victim of identity theft. We have received a do not call request from the consumer on August 9th and will allow the Original Creditor time to conduct their investigation accordingly. We do take customer complaints seriously and take pride and care in servicing our customers.

We apologize if any inconvenience has been caused and appreciate the consumers patience. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because this is a BLATANT LIE: "The agent also advised the consumer that there was a payment offered in the past as this was discussed on the previous communication of a promise to pay of $100."

I NEVER AGREED TO PAY A DIME TO THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE THE **** IS NOT MINE! THIS BLATANT LIE IS WHAT MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT WAS ALL ABOUT.

These calls are allegedly recorded, so I ask CBV to release audio PROOF to the BBB that I said this, because there is NONE.

I told both the first and second CBV agent I spoke to that the **** IS NOT MINE and NEVER agreed to pay ANYTHING.

Again, this is NOT MY **** and this DISHONESTY IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

Please note that we have received an update from the original creditor on 08/19/2024 advising that the account is not deemed fraud due to they are able to see that payments of over $3000 were made to the account via telephone banking. At this point in time, we suggest the consumer to reach out to the original creditor to confirm the information that was relayed to our agency.

Also, if the consumer is in disagreement with the account,we recommend that they contact one of the major credit bureaus Transunion or Equifax to file a dispute claim. I am rejecting this response because of this BLATANT LIE that they have REFUSED TO ADDRESS THREE TIMES NOW: "The agent also advised the consumer that there was a payment offered in the past as this was discussed on the previous communication of a promise to pay of $100."

I NEVER AGREED TO PAY A DIME BECAUSE THE **** IS NOT MINE! THIS BLATANT LIE IS WHAT MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT WAS ALL ABOUT.

These calls are allegedly recorded, so I AGAIN ask CBV to release audio PROOF to the BBB that I said this, because there is NONE.

I told both the first and second CBV agent I spoke to that the **** IS NOT MINE and NEVER agreed to pay ANYTHING.

They have provided me ZERO proof this debt is mine, despite me asking them over & over again on the phone, in emails and in voicemails.

The "proof" they have provided so far that this debt is mine consists of "trust me bro, it's not fraud", then lying and claiming I offered them money when I DID NOT.

Again, this is NOT MY **** and this DISHONESTY IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/09/2024

      Thank you for your communication.

Please be advised that upon further review, the initial ***** that handled the file entered a payment arrangement of $100 in error. This is the reason the second ***** referred to this payment arrangement when they were reviewing the notes on file. We have provided coaching and re-training to the initial ***** to ensure that moving forward all notes documented on file are accurate and reflect the discussion taken place. The ***** has understood.

Kindly note that the original creditor has advised us that due to the age of the account, they are unable to provide any supporting documentation. CBV is a third party agency that is hired to work on behalf of creditors and to provide service and solutions to consumers with delinquent/overdue accounts.

We still strongly recommend that the complainant take the necessary steps to file a police report if they believe that they are a victim of fraud. In addition,to also file a dispute with one of the major credit reporting agencies, Equifax or Transunion. We have provided their contact information below.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you.

      Better Business Bureau:

While the answer they provided is technically satisfactory, I don't believe that they did any of this in error. They actively lied and bluffed over and over and continued to insist that I had claimed debt that wasn't mine and promised to give them money when I hadn't. They also claimed they had "proof" from the original creditor that the debt WAS mine, but refused to provide it to me or the BBB, then they finally admitted they didn't have that either.

I asked them over and over - through phone calls, voicemails, emails and through this BBB complaint - to release the recorded call where they claimed I acknowledged the debt and promised to pay, as well as any "proof" they had that this was my debt. They continued repeating their lies without providing any proof of their claims, knowing they had none. They only gave up when they realized they could no longer carry on this charade.

This is disgusting borderline illegal behaviour and I still believe they deserve to have the lowest possible score the BBB offers.

      Sincerely,

I am not liable for this debt with cbv collection services. I do not have a contract with cbv collection services. They did not provide me with the original contract as i requested. They stated that they have sent a mail to my address which was never received, and the phone number they called me from was flagged as spam.I had paid them the amount they requested so my credit doesnt get damaged but now I see it damaged already. They stated that theyd report it to the credit bureau if it wasnt settled within 7 days. I am rejecting this response because:

1- I still havent received any letters or communications in regards to the post you have sent me to inform me about the collections assigned to you even though you guys insisted that you sent it to me 8 days before calling me.

2- The call I received was labeled spam, generally speaking, I dont answer those calls considering the scams going on in the country but I answered that one. and after I answered I was asked to call a different number which is the number of your company. No serious business will have their number labeled as spam

3- third and most importantly. My credit bureau got very damaged due to their lack of professionalism. The amount was paid directly to them when I  called. And they stated that the collections will not be posted on my credit profile until 7 days after they sent the letter which I never received, and they called me on the 8th day of them sending me the letter after they damaged my credit.

the call couldve happened on the 7th day after They sent the letter. The amount couldve been paid and the entire situation wouldve been avoided.

up until today. Im checking my mail everyday and the letter still hasnt arrived.

I need my credit to be corrected, and the collections to be removed off my bureau as soon as possible.

      Thank you

I found a mistake on my credit report. There is a collection from ****** under CBV COLLECTION SERVICES dated 2021-06-01 under the name ****************. I entered ****** for the first time on August 25, 2023, so this debt is not mine.My name is ***************************, and this mistake is stopping me from getting a loan to buy a car. Please remove this incorrect collection from my report as soon as possible.

CBV has been calling my work to collect on a ***** bill from 2011 and something to do with Money Mart cheque cashing. I have asked multiple times for a copy of these bill and they only send me letters which I have attached. I would not have used money mart to cash a cheque of any sort because I have a bank account. I am currently dealing with MET CREDIT regarding a ***** bill different account number than the one CBV is saying I owe for. I haven't lived on ******* in 6 or 7 years, ******* Court was roughly *********************************************************** June of 2024 regarding these. I have also attached the email from ********************* at CBV Collections. Why are they contacting me so many years later and why can I not get a copy of the bills? I do not want to lose my job over them calling my place of business, I do not not want them to know my address or phone number. I was at my last place of employment for 8 years which was from ********* so I'm not sure why they didnt get a hold of me then or before I moved from *******, I received nothing from CBV while living on *******. I am getting so frustrated with this company.

Thank you for your communication. Please be advised that we have reached out to the Original Creditors and they have confirmed at this time, they are unable to provide supporting documentation as per the consumers request. The notices that were sent to the consumer from CBV were to advise of the accounts outstanding and provides account information that would have been supplied to CBV by the Original Creditors.

Unfortunately, we would not be able to confirm on the reason the Original Creditors were not able to reach the consumer prior. In addition,we have removed the consumers employment phone number to restrict calls to the place of employment and have placed the account on hold in our system.

We appreciate the consumers patience and apologize for any inconvenience. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. Thank you.
