I have been renting a water heater from Reliance home comfort for the past 10 years since march 2015 and the original cost of the equipment as per the market price in 2015 was around 650. I have already paid more then 5 times or more of the original price. I have had no maintenance on this equipment since its installation. I do not have a written contract or any terms and condition. I suddenly realize this was insane and called reliance to see my option of buying out the equipment. I was quoted a price of $842 which is more then the original price and has since been depreciated by several times. The equipment itself would be nearing its end of life cycle and still the depreciation amount is huge. I think it should be close to nothing or reasonable to buy this equipment back and end the rental. * ** ********* **** **** ***** ******** ********* *** ******* ** ******** **** *********** *** ***** ** *** ***** * ****** *** *** ** *** *** **** **** *** ******** ***** ** *** **** * ***** ********** **** **** *** ******** ** ******* **** **** *** *** ** ** ******* **** *****

My family had to get a new furnace in January 20 25 and so we went with reliance because they offered us a better deal at the time then ******** which is who we were already with. The home comfort advisor that came to our house was very nice and helpful, but went back on his word once everything was installed. We chose to rent the furnace and he gave us 6 months free. I asked him that within that six months if we wanted to buy out if we could and he said, yeah that’s no problem. I then asked him if the buyout price would be the same as buying the furnace outright to begin with and he said yes. Me and my husband both asked that question and were told yes. We decided to buy out the furnace after two months of having it, and when I contacted reliance, they wanted to charge us $3000 more than what we were told by the home comfort advisor. So I told the girl I spoke to on the phone that I would like to speak to the home comfort advisor that was at our house and she told me that she would contact him and get him to call me. After five phone calls and two emails to try to get him to call me he finally did. He then told me that he never said that we could buy out for the same price. So now I have to pay almost double the original price because he went back on his word. I would never recommend reliance to anybody. I’m very upset with the lack of service and compassion that reliance has towards their customers. ******** ******* *** will NEVER again use them.

We have a rental agreement with Reliance for home hot water and heat. We have been without either for 7 days. They continually send repair people to try replacing parts / do repairs when it's clear the unit needs to be replaced. They are not meeting their obligations for the rental agreement yet still charge us full rate.

Tankless water heater was having issues. Reliance sent a contractor to check it and fix it. He came late on a saturday and he tagged out my furnace and turned the gas and electricity off even tho that's not why he was at my house he then tagged out my water heater because it was installed wrong, yet Reliance was the one that installed it. So no heat and no hot water. He then left with out fixing anything. I had to contact another company hundreds of dollars later thing get fixed including a new water tank. Now we have to wait for Reliance ti come remove the old water heater. We then get an email to rate and review reliance so we did. Bring us to today the same contractor that caused all the issues in the first place shows up again. We moved in this property since last September, as we know the former owners has a contract with Reliance for 7 years with drinking filter water tank and they promised to pay until the contract expired in this November, 2025, (as we know they pay more $200 per year and if you buy online actually it cost around $300 and when it expired the former owner can not own it and you must return or buy out) so this account is still under the former owners. We called Reliance last week since the filter water tank had an issue and they sent a technician to check and said it can not be fixed and told us his colleague would call us within 48 hours. After 48 hours we didn't get any calls from Reliance so I called them and told them the issue. Reliance said we have to ask the former owner to contact them but I have explained to Reliance I don't have the former owner contact information then Reliance said sorry they do nothing for us with this issue, they denied to replace one for us and we can not return it to Reliance even the water tank is not working right now because the account is not under our name.

Did you ask when this so-called Agreement came to an end ? And if it is still valid why Reliance Home Comfort did not go to the Court for obtaining a decree against me? As I have stopped paying them for the Leased to own Furnace from 14th November 2022. And I have a credit balance of $398.00 as I was out of the country and the money kept going from my Bank till February 2023. Then I stopped when I returned in February 2023. I asked for Contract. Which they told you was provided in March 2025. So my question is that What importance is being given to disclosure and Agreements by the Supplier ? They only follow one thing they have to charge and customer has to pay.
      My question is If a supplier cannot provide a Contract for 3 years *** ***** ** ** ******** ** **** ****** ******** ******* ************** ?
Not only that they are invoicing my Furnace adding Late payment and all possible charges. Is this Best Business Practice and does it fall in BBB criterion?
They are not going to Court as they are aware that their claim is not tenable in Courts of Law but somehow to create pressure on customers to ****** money . **** *** ***** **** ****** ** ** ****** ****** ** **** ******** ******** *
Thanks for your response. I am just collecting maximum possible information so that it can be appropriately used when required.

This company installed a furnace and air conditioning unit in Oct of 2023. The permit for the installation was not pulled until Jan 13th of 2025. Reliance tried pulling out payments in June of 2024 and our contract was for 12 months no payment or interest. (contract start date Nov 2024). Received an email in Nov of 2024 stating that I owed for 2 months. which i did not. Installed a a/c that was 2 yrs old at time of installation. They ripped our belly bag (used to keep pipes from freezing). Did not set furnace to proper setting, this causing furnace and fan to run 24-7 thus increasing our hydro bill. Not willing to compensate for extremely high hydro bill. As well we were told we were wasting their time and ours.. They ripped the plenum. They did not install wires that run into the power box. Did not secure furnace to wall. Thermostat was installed in the wrong spot. Should have been away from other heat sources. They did not tin tape, the plenum. Over loaded panel box. Customer services reps as well as management hung up on us. Does not return phone calls, or emails. Promised all damages would be fixed when furnace would be removed. Now claiming they did not do damages. ***** ** ****** ******* ** ***** **** ** ** ** **** ** *** ** *****.

Hi there, thanks for the response. Reliance is refusing to have our furnace inspected even though it has been installed in our place since 2023. As well they are refusing to pay for our hydro bill which is over $1500 for three months, as well they are refusing to service our furnace, as their techs did something to it when they came into to "fix" it. We now have to have our furnace set at 78 to keep our place warm. They are also denying that they did any damage to our house and are refusing to fix it. One of the managers ******* said that they would fix the phelm and repair the belly bag when they came to remove the unit. And now after talking to him last week, he said he spoke to the tech who did the installation, and he never ripped the belly bag. But the belly bag has to be ripped in order to run the wires for the a/c. As well they installed the thermostat in the wrong location. As well Reliance is refusing any sort of compensation for my mental well being. * ** ******** ** ** ****** ** ****** ******* *** all of my time is spent dealing with this. They pulled a payment out 6 months early, then in Nov I received an email saying that I missed Oct payment. When our contract was to start in Nov. I received an email from one of the managers ***, and she is saying they applied a credit to our account. (the promo we signed up for was no payment no interest for 12 months because we got the furnace and air conditioner). She had said that no payments were made on the account since the unit was installed in Oct of 2023, again our contract was to start in Nov of 2024. I have not paid and am refusing to pay as they did not pull a permit with ** ***** until Jan of this year. And when I asked ******* the service manager he gave me an excuse that the front desk person who is in charge of that "had health issues, then they got really behind". I also dont appreciate the staff ********** ** *** talking to me like I dont know what i am talking about. Yes I have been **** but I have been fighting with this company since Nov. I cant just talk to one person, as I have to talk to three or four people. A number of staff including the manager has hung up on me numerous times. Yesterday I spoke to 4 people and 2 of those people hung up on me. And when I finally got to the person I needed to speak to about setting up an app to have our furnace inspected by ** ***** she informed me that they are refusing to have our furnace inspected. I have contacted the Consumer protection board once already and I will contact them again letting them know that the company is refusing to have it inspected. If we want to have it inspected we need to hire an electrician and they will have to pull the permit to inspect it. We have contacted one and we are looking at over $600, which Reliance is refusing to repay us. I am also seeking compensation for the damages done, as well as my own suffering. As well your company gave us an a/c that was two years old at the time of installation* * **** ******* **** * ***** *** **** ** **** ** ********* ** ****** **** *** **** *** * **** ** ******* **** * **** ******** *****. As first time home buyers, we inherited a Reliance hot water tank, and knowing Reliance *** * *** ********** immediately sought to replace their product with one from a local, smaller company. Little did we know that we would have Reliance clinging onto us for months to come. They refused to accept the tank returned by the local company, citing incorrect account information, and continued to decline accepting it after the correct information was provided (the previous account owner was deceased and was not the same as the home owner who sold the home). Each phone call to Reliance resulted in another form of resistance or hurdle to cross to stop the monthly bills for a tank we simply did not own. ** * ***** ***** ******** ****** * ********** ****** I had always paid my Reliance Comfort bill monthly by credit card. In late 2024, I switched to weekly payments through my ********** account. In February 2025, I received a notice saying my account was overdue. To bring it current, I made a one-time credit card payment and a Reliance agent walked me through re-adding them as a payee in my bank to ensure the account was set up correctly.
Since then, I’ve made consistent weekly payments, which actually overpay my monthly bill. But Reliance still shows that no payments have ever been received—even though multiple agents have acknowledged seeing the payments on their end, including exact dates and amounts that match my bank records.
When I asked why none of the payments were applied to my balance, I was met with **********, blame-shifting, and threats. One agent told me flat-out, “That’s not our problem,” and demanded I pay again or she’d send me to collections—even though she just admitted they’d received the payments.
I now have a recorded phone call of Reliance confirming they received the payments, refusing to explain where the money went, and refusing to investigate. **** **** ********* * ****** *** ********* *** ** working with ********** to provide proof that none of my payments were rejected.
