Reliance Hot Water Rental- I had rented a hot water heater since 2011. Recently in the last 6 months it has increased from $40.97-$42.40. I noticed in December it increased. Then in Jan 1 mth later there was another increase and finally in Feb it went up again. I contacted Reliance to inquire how much it would cost to purchase a new hot water heater. After being transferred several times i as told they don't sell new hot water heaters. They would however sell me mine for $702. which I have had since 2013 or give me 3 mths free or 10% discount. I then decided to purchase a new one elsewhere.
when I contacted them to arrange it be picked up I was told there was a $65 fee for this service. I've asked for a copy of the agreement I signed agreeing to this fee be e-mailed to me. This as on 14Mar2025 and as of this date 13April2025 have not received such an e-mail. ** ****** if you rent from Reliance you will be charged a fee for them to remove their own rental. As well the steady increase. Since Jan 2023 it increased over $5/mth.Reliance Home Comfort

I wanted to buy out my hot water tank which was installed on March 2, 2009 by ******** at that time. I asked Reliance to provide a buyout schedule which shall list the model of the tank, buyout value based on years. For example, my tank is a **** and it is now the 16th year of its life. Reliance Home Comfort could not provide a written buyout schedule or a detailed fair market value for this tank. They just told me this 16-year old tank worth $326.15+HST. * ******* *** ***** ******** **** *** **** ***** *** *** ****** ***** ** **** * **** I asked the representatives how does Reliance come up this buyout value. Not a single rep can answer this simple question. And all of them keeps saying you signed the lease contract in 2009 and this is the buyout value. My point is that Reliance arbitrarily quote the buyout value and not even bother to provide any written support. I have their e-mail correspondence, last billing and reference number to every single call I made to buy out their tank. They offered my free upgrade to a newest tank with same monthly charge and 3 months free of rental charge. *** *** * ***** ******** *** *** ****** ******** ** ********* *** * *******Reliance Home Comfort

I had a tech come out to my home to check my 7 year old furnace and the tech's camera was not working **** *** ***** to check the heat exchanger and my furnace is locking down due to overheating. Without visual verification of the state of the heat exchanger she proceeded to advise there were other symptoms indicating I have a heat exchanger issue. I requested to have the thermostat looked at initially which was not looked at by the tech at all. The tech also ***** ** ***** ** ** saying that it could cause carbon monoxide poisoning and for peace of mind I should replace the furnace. I advised I have 2xCO2 monitors in the home and the tech advised that the monitors do not always capture the excessive CO2 **********. I then asked to get a quote for a new furnace. Sales guys show up and starts pushing me to rent the furnace and tells me I only pay monthly for 7 years but the contact he shows me says 15 years and at twice the amount of the equipment. Starts telling me I get all these free additions to the furnace for free and unlimited service calls, and I get 6 months of payments for free. I ask about a lien and he tells me they don't lien your house. Not true, Reliance sells your contract to a finance company and they lien your house. Its all in the fine print. Always check the fine print!! The sales guy also tries to tell me that furnaces only last 7 years in Canada. NOT TRUE. He also told me that he worked for the company for 1 month and out of 25 customers that purchased furnaces 23 of them rented and he himself rents. I also asked if the technician that comes to my house gets a commission on the sale if I buy a furnace and he said yes. I believe the techs and sales people are working together ** *** ****** **** This company is misrepresenting these rental agreements *** ***** *** right to potential customers. Luckily I noticed the red flags and did my research and did not proceed with purchasing ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY. ** *** *** **** ********Reliance Home Comfort

Reliance Home / Cooling review,
I bought a ****** - high Wall ductless system in August 2021 from Reliance
This unit / model is a defective model.
I have had 6 service calls and replaced the motherboard 3 times over the past few years. As of April 4, 2025 I have no heat once again due to an E-1 error which means yet another motherboard needs to be installed.
As of april 8th 2025, the technician told me Reliance will not replace the defective unit.
At this point I am requesting Reliance to remove this unit & reimburse me for the cost of the unit as I will now have to buy a replacement. There is no way to escalate concerns/issues to senior management/customer service due to its corporate structure. As a customer I feel helpless and have to be inconvenienced every year (no heat or a/c) because Reliance sold me a defective unit. **** ************ I would never recommend anyone to purchase any equipment from Reliance.Reliance Home Comfort

I booked an appointment for an electrician to do some work at the house under my electrical plan.
I was specific, ** * ****** **, that the person must present ID before I allow them in.
The electrician arrived promptly at 1pm
I asked for ID and he looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language
I'D? He asked **** * ********* **** ** *** **** I said yes I need to see ID before I let you in.
He said... I have on a reliance shirt and driving a Reliance truck... What more do you need?
They do NOT give us IDs....
Then I can't let you in was my response....
He said OK shrugged his shoulders and left.
I have 01 question please!
Does Reliance provide it's employees with ID cards or not?!
When I was signing up with Reliance a couple of months ago that was one of my concerns and I was assured that all employees have ID cards.
If the service is being provided by a contractor.. They have personal IDs to present
So... What is the truth? That's a I want to know.
Thank you very much
Very annoyed for having wasted my day!Reliance Home Comfort

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you experienced.
To address your question, all Reliance technicians are issued ID badges as a part of their standard identification process. In addition to wearing Reliance-branded clothing and arriving in Reliance-branded vehicles, they carry these badges and can present them upon request to provide further verification. We sincerely apologize if this was not done, and we will ensure the proper coaching is sent. If you require any further assistance, please contact us directly at *******@***************.com -******

** **** *** * ******* ** *** **** *** ******** **** **** ******* if ***** ** *** ****** ********** **** you will be selling your home. If the buyers do not agree to assume the contract for warranty/service, etc, you are in for a world of ****.
From the astronomical payout amount for a 'rental' , you are basically buying it out in full. My lawyer had to request the buy out amount 3 times before she got it and then it was $600 more than what Reliance had quoted me. The lawyer issued a cheque from the home proceeds and had it couriered, while holding back $10,000 for the buyers, of interest free money, until they received a letter back from Reliance to say the account was paid out.
The problem? Reliance told me they had not received the cheque. I then provided them with the tracking to show they indeed had. Then they said that they may have but they wouldn't know they have for 7-10 business days for THEM to process it, then the bank had to process it and then it came back to them to process it as closed and provide the documentation back via ****** **** as CLOSED.

Double debited monthly rental charges and refuse to refund. After 4 calls to Customer Service located in The Phillipines, was transferred 4 times to a supposed supervisor who could do a Direct Deposit for the refund. No one ever came on the line. Waited over 20 minutes each time. Terrible companyReliance Home Comfort

I was recipient of Reliance phone call marketing for Plumbing Protection Plan. Currently we rent a water heater. I took the Plumbing Plan but was then subsequently and incorrectly billed for a 1 yr Heating Service Contract. Reliance WOULD NOT refund or terminate the plan. Phone call marketers are ************ as they have Zero evidence I ever agreed to the Heating Plan. I will be terminating all plans from Reliance when renewal comes up!Reliance Home Comfort

I am extremely disappointed with the service from Reliance Home Comfort. I signed up for their service, but when I recently called for a repair, I discovered that my furnace’s blower motor had failed. The technician informed me that the part would take time to arrive and instead suggested replacing the entire furnace. He mentioned that a sales representative would call me to discuss options, but no one ever reached out.
Over the past three weeks, I have called multiple times (2-3 times per week) for an update on the part, only to be given empty promises that a service manager would call me back. That never happened. Despite my repeated follow-ups, there is still no ETA on the part’s arrival.
What makes this experience even more frustrating is that I called local stores myself, and they confirmed that the part is readily available. However, Reliance refuses to take any action to source it locally. Meanwhile, my household ** **** ****** has been left without heat for weeks, which is completely unacceptable.
This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. ** ****** *********** ******** **** ******** ***** ***** ****** ******* *** Their lack of communication, unwillingness to resolve issues efficiently, and failure to prioritize their customers’ needs have been beyond disappointing.Reliance Home Comfort
