Called in an emergency. It is a Canadian Winter. They came and charged us for parts and repair they never fulfilled and repeated don't return calls. We have no heat or hot water *** * **** ** *** *****. It's not like a random order of paint or a new door knob. It is cold here. They kept saying they'd call us back and escalate but we had to keep calling them. It's been days and they still don't know if they have the part. UNRELIABLE.

Purchased a house and when I contacted reliance to return the water softener they didn’t disclose that there was a 7 year contract. After speaking with multiple agents they failed to tell me about a contract. Telling me I should have assumed the contract. Yet there is no contract I signed? Got an email saying I owe $2800. I was failed to be made aware of this buy out fee. If someone told me then I wouldn’t have removed the softener…

when we purchased furnace from reliance in 2016 the sale agent told us that we can have a new air conditioning at no additional cost. Our air conditioning at that time was working well but we were enticed by the agent with " no additional cost" without telling us that it will end up as a rental and not ours to keep. Had the agent been honest about this we wouldn't have replaced our perfectly working ac at all.

I rented an apartment with a Reliance hot water heater, the day I moved in it had to be replaced. I'd already set up an account before moving in but was ended up being billed twice.
I phoned up several times about this and was told it was because they were switching from 16 digit to 12 digit account numbers and that this issue would be resolved by itself.
I phone up again because they're sending me notices to say I haven't paid my bills even though I'm up to date. They tell me that they'll send me a paper copy of the bill. Somehow another account is set up. Now I owe money on that account.
I phone up the billing department on several occasions but they've no idea what the issue is or how to resolve it. This goes on for a few weeks and spent hours on the phone becoming increasingly frustrated.
I filled in out the form on the website but got no response.
I ended up moving out of the apartment and completing a move request. Finally a resolution! It seemed that a new account had been set up for the new water heater but I hadn't been informed and it's still unclear why a third account was even set up. The customer rep cancelled the two accounts and provided a final bill for the right account. All was well or so I thought.
I then recieved a bill for one of the other accounts. I phoned the billing department but they say I still have to pay the second bill even though the final balance on the right bill shows that Reliance now owes me money.
Back to the moving department I go, after going through the situation again... finally the rep acknowledges that this is a mistake and cancels the account. I'll believe it when I don't get billed again.
In amongst this, I provided a customer review on ****** but didn't hear anything back for at least three weeks. By this time I'd already moved out but the customer service helpfully reopened my account hence why I had to phone back to resolve the issue.
      Billing dept is terrible.
Two stars because the heater worked.

Reliance took two payments for electrical work and I’ve been trying for a month and a half to get it refunded. I keep receiving promises it’s being refunded but haven't received it. I’m not sure why Reliance doesn’t want to give me back my money. As a result I’ve cancelled all extra services possible as I no longer trust this company.
October 28, 2022 - we hired Reliance to do electrical work in our home for a total of $1507.70. The payment processed twice.
November 2, 2022 - I called Reliance to have the $1507.70 refunded back to my credit card. I was told it would be refunded back to my credit card in 5 business days.
November 21, 2022 - no refund had been received so I called again. I was told it would be refunded back to my credit card in 5 business days.
November 30, 2022 – no refund had been received so I called again and asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor said I’d have the refund on my credit card in 5 business days.
December 5, 2022 – no refund had been received so I called again. I was told it would be refunded to my credit card in 5 business days. I asked to be transferred to the department where I could cancel my plumbing and electrical protection plans. When I talked to that agent she asked that I wait a few more days as the refund was in progress and I’d have my refund that week.
December 12, 2022 – no refund has been received. I called directly to the department to cancel my protection plans. The agent cancelled the plans with no real interest in the issue. She finally offered to look into the status of the refund after i again explained my unhappiness and put me on hold. The call disconnected while I was on hold, and I decided to not call back again. They did not call me.
      Still not resolved. I've called my credit card company in the hopes they can help. *** ********* *** **** ******* *** *** **** ** ****** * ******

As a long time Reliance ****** ******* customer paying a protection plan, we were abhorred and extremely disappointed when we now needed our air conditioner serviced.
      ********* *** *********.
After a 4 day wait in excruciating July heat the service man from Reliance advised us in writing that day, our air conditioner was non repairable, quote “ major leak in system R22 Phase out, low refrigerant trip, low cut off stopping compressor “ we were told, there is no saving our air conditioner unit, and
      Quote “recommend replace asap”
      Tuesday June 19/22 4:30 pm
We had reservations, therefore getting a second professional opinion.

      ***** ********** ********* ***.
Evaluation quote “ metering device was blocked/plugged blocking off refrigerant flow, sourced and obtained service replacement R22 evaporator and installed complete with filter dryer to prevent further issues. Evacuated air from system and put back into service”
Cost was 992.85 total parts and labour.
Our air conditioning unit ran perfectly after that. We called Reliance, got the push around, we were told by a supervisor they would look into the matter and take care of this unfortunate misdiagnosis. We made several more calls, no one ever called us back.
We were and still are thoroughly disgusted with Reliance, that they would take such advantage of seniors, to try and sell us a new air conditioner, when it was repairable under the protection plan. A response to this e-mail followed by a phone call, an apology and a reimbursement would be the respectable and professional thing to do.

We had a technician come out on Dec 2/22 to look at our hot water tank. We had no hot water and our tank was installed in 2006 when our house was built. The technician said they didn't have the part to fix it because of the age of the tank so we ended up having to get a new hot water tank. The technician decided to poke his nose in our furnace and said he was getting a carbon monoxide reading that was over what was acceptable. He said that he shut off the gas to the furnace and it could be that the heat exchange was cracked. He called a furnace technician to come out and look at the furnace at my request. When the furnace technician got to our house, the first technician told him that he had gotten a carbon monoxide reading of over 3 and his manager told him to shut off the gas to the furnace and red tag it. Because it was red tagged, the furnace technician said that he couldn't do anything so he left. We were left with no heat in the middle of December!! The technician was trying to force us to have to buy a new furnace because he gets a kick back/commission for new sales. Reliance has tried to sell us a new furnace and A/C a few years ago so I'm sure there is a note on our file and the technician & his manager though they were going to make some quick cash - wrong! We got a 2nd opinion from a different company and they said the furnace was running fine and the carbon monoxide level was normal. They advised us to get Reliance to come and reverse the red tag. We had another technician from Reliance come on Dec 6/22 and wouldn't you know - the carbon monoxide levels were normal!! We recorded his entire appointment and took pictures of the form that had to be sent to ******** with the violation (red tag) of the furnace and his authorization to reverse the red tag so we have proof if the reversal was not filed. It's disgusting that Reliance and their technician did this to us and I can promise that we will never use Reliance again!
