*** **** ** *** **** *** ********** I moved into a home 7 years ago and have had nothing but problems with the water heater rental I inherited. On top of the many (and I mean MANY) service calls I had to have for numerous reasons for my tank, I am almost always stuck with a technician who always states “I don’t know what’s wrong” and they tinker away for a few mins and attempt to “fix” something and then quickly leave, almost always with the problem still occurring, meaning another service call (and more time for me to have to take off work). My tank has been replaced 2 times since I moved in, and they are always blaming the hard water in our area for these issues, so they talked me into a water softener rental. It’s funny, the issues have continued despite my water softener (even with another new hot water tank being installed since the softener was installed). The most recent take instillation consisted of 5 appointments… again all of which I needed to take time off work to be home for, with one excuse after another as to why it couldn’t be done that day, but the best one was “they didn’t have the tool to install it” (I’m sorry, what?) my next favourite was the technician who went down stairs and took one look at the tank and then said I’ll be right back, then got in his truck and drove away. Someone from customer service called me 30 mins later saying that the technician couldn’t make it that day.
My newest complaint is receiving a bill today for $480 of a past due charge from May/22. (Which hasn’t shown up on any bill between June - October) when I called and spoke to someone in billing they said they had a switch in their system in May and there were pre-auth charges that didn’t go thru, and threatened to send me to collections for a supposed past due charge that until this bill they didn’t even know was past due, and they can’t provide me with an account ledger to show where the charges are. I am a customer of many years with reliance and decided to install a 5 inch filter with UV light, and a humidifier also with Reliance. The sales person Dalton and Justin O. signed me up for the installation. I told to both sales people that I do not want any surprises multiple times and that they should be transparent with me.
When the technician came to install he didn't install the 5 inch filter. When I called Dalton about it I was told that I need to pay another $439. **** * ***** ** ********. Dalton verbally confirmed with me 3 times that the filter was included but wrote something else in the contract. I didn't read the contract as it was on his **** and I trusted him. Why would he tell me one thing and put something else in the contract? Who does that but ******** trying to bilk more money out of the trusting customer. I said that I expect the verbal contract to be the same as the written and requested that Reliance complete their part of the deal. Dalton had his manager call me, her name was Humeira. Humeira *** **** ************** ***** ******** ** ** ** * *** ********** *** ********** ************ *** *** ****** ************** *** refused to complete their work unless I paid up. Humeira made me feel belittled and put me down, this feeling is terrible. I expect a company to be responsible for the actions of their employees and Reliance is not. Sales people lied and deceived me just to get me to sign the deal and the company Reliance is behind this to get more money from the people. ********** ***** **** ******* ** **** *** ******** ** ******** ** * ********** ******** **** ******** ****** ** ************ *** ****** *** ***** *********.
Furthermore, **** ** *** ****** ** *** ************* The technician installed the cable right in front of my filter and now I cannot change the filter. **** ** *********** ******** And the installer Rob, told me he is the most senior technician in the company and that he trained everyone else.Reliance Home Comfort

*** *** ***** **** * ** New boiler/hot water heater installed Dec 2/21. Salesman said would get me a gift card for having to pay to have h.w. heater removed. Dec 12 boiler not working, 14 calls/visits before everything fixed.

I just realized this is a company with the whole purpose of charging customers more, and making tricks to charge more. I am a Reliance customer for some time with an equipment rental from previous owner. Then I had another service of smart home 'rental' which is overpriced. At some point I was contacted by a tele-marketer for a protection plan, so I said I will try, eventhough I realized later the price and conditions communicated to me by phone were not the same as actual ones. The breaking point was when I wanted to cancel this plan a couple of times, so they talked me through it. But then I actually cancelled around two months ago, and today I realized they are still charging me for that plan. When I called, they say there is no note on my file, really? Why wouldn't they put a note on my file when the lady said 'ok, I cancelled your plan'.Reliance Home Comfort

The absolute worse company I have ever dealt with.my elderly parents entered into a contract with Reliance in 2012, paid and inflates monthly payment ever since. Now they are selling their home and Reliance slapped a $4,000 closeout fee. They sent them the money 2 months ago and now they are giving them the runaround and refusing to close the contract adding additional charges everytime we call to complain..we will be goingto court!Reliance Home Comfort

In one month their hot water tank stopped working 5 technicians all don’t know how to fix it. 1st time got replaced not working new tank burner lite ignition switch not working waiting for 4 days to get fixed. Later they bring something new chimney sorry we can’t put this hot water chimney needs to be cleaned. Call next for another technician came and got fixed technician(another contractor) not the relevance techician. Now after one month water tank stopped working technician came said burner stopped working need a replacement . Now new marketing deal change the water tank to upgraded one. Now it’s 5 days still no response and cannot got replacement. I have all the call records.

1 starCancelled my account and paid to buy-out my ancient water heater - * ******** ********* ****** ** ***** **** * only to have Reliance Home Comfort charge my credit card twice for the full amount. The first time I called the customer service agent said it was "due to an unfortunate technical glitch" (LOL!) and that they'd mail me a cheque (!) in four weeks. When I said that wasn't acceptable and that they should just refund my credit card instantly, I was put on hold for 20 minutes, with a quick break during which the agent had the nerve to try to sell me additional services from this joke of a business!
I was finally told someone would have to contact me in 24-48 hours for my banking information (!), which they already had. Fine.
I wait two days. Nothing. Call back.
New customer service agent apologizes for the first agent who was evidently wrong and apparently could have just refunded my credit card instantly like I had requested - no one was going to call me back for my banking information - "they don't do that for credit card refunds". He assured me it was processed and would show up on my statement in a few business days.
Fast forward to almost a week later and no refund has come through on my statement. These ******* ******* still owe me $599.11 on a credit card charge that has already been posted and is now, technically, collecting interest.
I'm not calling these ******* ****** back a third time - I've filled a dispute for the double charge with **** - ********* ***** ****** *** * **** ****** ******* *** ***** ********* *** ************ ******** ********** ***** **** ******* ** *** ***** - every rental scenario they could possible offer you is going to cost you more money in the medium-to-long term than just owning - and when it comes time to try to get out of your contract with them - look out. They will make it extremely painful and cumbersome to do so - to the point of probably making it a habit to 'accidentally' charge customers twice.Review fromDeb M

I had a heating plan with Reliance for years. Last winter my furnace broke down, they couldn’t fix it because they don’t carry the ignition device I required. When the service person came to my house the first time he tried to sell me a new furnace though. I declined adamantly but he persisted and I pretty much had to ask him to leave. After that visit somehow a cooling plan started showing up on my bill which I did not authorize and today will be the third time I have called about it. At the time of his visit I did not have A/C…and it was March. I signed a contract for a ******* central AC system. This was over $1,000- more than their own brand *****. I expected the system to be ******* Original Equipment as per the contract I signed, which clearly mentioned ******* part numbers. I discovered that during installation Reliance used a ***** evaporator coil insted of *******. The system failed within 30 minutes of installation. The coil was replaced twice, always with 3rd party products. This was confirmed by the technicians who said the coils were ******* equivalent, sourced from a third party. The substitution was done without my knowledge, approval and contrary to what was in the contract I signed. This appears to be a deliberate 'bait & switch' strategy of using cheaper components which cannot be easily identified by a customer and therby increase the company's profits.
I have not yet received an explanation to my written complaint addressed to the president of the company.
