Back in May of 2023 I had a hip replacement. The surgeon who performed the surgery, who is a Banner Health surgeon, said I had to pay $702 otherwise he would not perform the surgery, so I paid the $702. After the surgery the *** (explanation of benefits) from my insurance company said I was to only pay $600.43 which meant I overpaid by $101.57. Banner Baywood, the hospital where the surgery was performed, said my share of the hospital cost is $428.86. I have been trying since June of 2023 to get the $101.57 overpayment to be credited to the Banner Baywood account. On January ******** I get a text from ************ that stated they are the collection agency for Banner Health and that I now owe $428.86 to them for the Banner Baywood account. My ********************** advocate has been working with me to get this resolved with Banner Health and notified me on March 19th 2024 that Banner Baywood will be crediting my account the $101.57 overpayment and my new owed amount is now $327.29. On Saturday I receive a letter from ************ with an invoice from Banner Baywood dated March 25th 2024 showing that the owed amount is still $428.86. As of this writing (April 15th 2024) I have yet to receive an updated bill from Banner Baywood showing the application of the $101.57 overpayment to my hospital bill to reduce the amount I owe to $327.29 from $428.86. Banner Health, nor the surgeon, has entertained the idea of refunding me the overpayment of $101.57. It is ludicrous and unacceptable that it is taking almost one whole year to get this resolved. Banner Health would rather send your account to a collection agency than work with you to resolve a matter that is clearly theirs to correct. They are unprofessional and their customer service is atrocious. I will not deal with Banner Health ever again. Worst medical organization I have had experience with.

This office is so unprofessional. I called to book an appointment and they schedule me for a month later; I showed up for my appointment only for them to tell that apparently whoever scheduled my appointment didnt submit it. After that we had to reschedule for a month later, and this time when I was walking in 15 minutes before my appointment they told me, we dont know if your insurance will cover this visit. So they didnt even check beforehand if my insurance will cover my visit although I have provided all my information ahead of time. The office manager told me you can still be seen but we dont know if your insurance will cover it. So they want me to be seen by a PA-C who will probably send me a $500 bill because the office workers are incompetent, and they dont even check if someones insurance will cover their visit like other places do.

Banner Medical Center in ****** is the WORST place to go for any type of healthcare. I went to the emergency room for abdominal pain. Banner puts all their emergency patients in the hallway of the Trauma Center. It was a disaster. Patients are lined up in the busiest hallway in the hospital. Bleeding trauma patients are wheeled within inches, police, fire, emts, garbage bins, etc are flying down the hallway. I was almost sprayed by blood as trauma patients were wheeled in. My personal health information was available to anyone in the hallway (HIPAA violation). Nurses and doctors were so stressed out they could barely stand to be there (I asked them). I was yelled at the doctor as he was clearly under tremendous stress. Patients in pain were yelling and screaming in the hallway. It was worse than a 3rd world hospital. I will never go to a Banner ************** or hospital again. STAY WAY! Go to one of the better hospitals like Oro Vally Hospital. Banner is absolutely horrible.

I have been fighting with Banner's billing department for 10 mos now on my son's account. The issue is simple, I have been asking them to submit for an retroactive authorization for a surgery that my son had back on 3/23/23. He had 2 insurances, both insurances were stating they were primary. BCBS paid as primary, the other insurance is a "Health Cost Sharing plan" in which is considered NOT a real insurance. BTW Banner Health will not bill a Health Cost sharing plan(which I didn't know). After months of back & forth with both insurances it was determined that the Health Cost sharing plan was primary. BCBS had insisted from the very beginning that they were primary because of how my divorce decree read even though son was now an adult. BCBS had already paid all bills as primary. Banner had known from the very beginning that the Health Cost Sharing plan was primary, but never informed us. Banner never tried to reach out to the other plan to resolve the denial issue for no prior authorization. They were paid by BCBS, then billed the remaining balance to my son. Banner also did not send all of my sons claims to his other insurance. I have called Banner ***************** Billing spoken with ***** *********** ********** all of which assured me that the issue was being taken care of. Every time I would call to follow up they would tell me "they are working on it". Only to find out I was being lied to. Nothing was being done. It's been two months now that Banner said they submitted for a retroactive authorization. I verified with the place that does the *************** has been submitted. ************** in central billing told me today that they just submitted it by certified mail on 1/12. When I spoke with ************** on 11/9 and she told me she was going to do it then. All Banner had to do was call **************** fax or submit the authorization online per ******* at **************** I used to work at ************************** know first hand how awful the billing **** is.

I am very sorry to say I have to leave this review, but I am at my **** end as to what else to do! Banner's billing department is the worst! I've never been treated so poorly, lied to and given the run around as many times as they have. I am a cash paying customer for two surgeries for my son's broken leg and after over a year I still can not get them to give me the cash pay discount. All proper paperwork was filed, checked BEFORE we walked into surgery (yes, the guy at surgery check in desk even printed it out again for me and said make sure this is right and keep it for your records! I call every 30 days and still nothing has happen. I am now leaving poor reviews really in hopes that someone with some authority will call me. I've offered to set up a meeting, they say we don't meet with clients. I'm offered to come to the hospital, I've been in tears on 3 phone calls lasting OVER AN HOUR. Don't try to be a cash pay customer at **********************, it will take you years to even be billed correctly! Very sad, for a surgery to save my son's leg!

Banner health has gone down since banner took over. 1st time I was in there a man kept pulling out his IVs and bleeding everywhere they didnt call his son or get the robot to watch him they didnt do anything. 2nd time I was there a man coming down from drugs took a c*** on my bed thinking he was in the bathroom. Banner Health Billing employee ******, is very unprofessional, I was billed for a service over 7 months ago April 28th that my insurance paid and on a 3-way call Banner, Aetna and me confirmed they paid Banner. After the call and the resolution I have been harassed with texts and emails on a daily bases threatening to send the resolved bill to collections. Frustrated I called phone# and spoke with ****** and she agreed invoice was paid and she would note it as such. Well, less than 17 hours later, I received another email and text stating that I need to pay this bill. Now it's been 5 days and I am receiving texts "Banner Health has partnered with Curse to offer long term, flexible payment options. Our records indicate that you have a balance due $$$ if you would like to pay this balance you can apply for a banner card without it impacting your credit". So now because of this harassment I have retained my attorney .it's bad enough being sick, and then having to deal with the harassment from the medical staff employees like ****** in billing for Banner Health. We waited all day in the hospital after the surgery, through the night and all day the next day. Came to find out the hold up beyond noon the following day was because their was miscommunication between the hospital and the surgeon - so my moms medication was never sent in. They basically told us that even though it was their mistake, she would have to skip a day without medication. Reading that *** confuse you as much as the incident confused me. They placed a foreign object in my moms body, gave her a bunch of pain medication for a day and a half and then just sent her on her way with a goodluck when it starts hurting again in the morning. BBB only lets me use so many characters - Full review can be found on ****** or Yelp under ************

Almost two years ago my insurance company sent me to ***************** cardio clinic to see a Dr ********* He didn't seem to think I was sick enough for him but he did an echocardiogram, and it showed my heart valves were not leaking as much as all the other scans. Recently I received notes from Hookadam and it looked like he invented me all over again, it contained obvious inaccuracies on every page. He even said the edema that was obviously coming from my heart valves, was coming from my kidney which he said had failed. My kidney has never failed.Recently my insurance company again sent me to that clinic and when I show up to make my first appointment the front desk person, ******* told me I wasn't welcome there and could not be a patient there, and said they has sent me a letter earlier that told me so.I went to the records window to ask for a copy of that letter and it didn't exist. So I went back to the clinic and confronted them, they had a meeting I wasn't invited to, and came out and said I was going to see Dr **** a valve surgeon, and I was happy. In the meantime a nurse named ********************* was my contact person, and she said no to everything I asked, including medications, and mentioning anything about the past and her clinic. Every hospital and clinic that looked at my heart for almost four years said I had mildly leaking valves, two valves which caused symptoms. All of them made an excuse why they would not fix them, but this one clinic, AGAIN, said they were not leaking bad enough, TRACE to bother with. Why does ONLY THIS CLINIC say my valves were leaking "trace" when all the others said the leak was mild. This situation is ongoing. But what is clear is this ***************** clinic at ***************** is ok with falsifying patient records, and lying to patients, which is medical malpractice.
