      U-Haul reservations are not guaranteed. Talk about adding another layer of stress to a stressful situation. The email following reservation claimed someone would call me by 5pm the night before pickup with instructions. After 6pm with no call I called the national number - who was no help, but forwarded me to a regional number who shuffled me between people. After 20 min an agent told me there was no truck for my reservation (a one way 475mile move). They suggested I could drive over an hour away and that there MIGHT be a truck for me. I told them that the added 2plus hrs or my time and mileage was not acceptable. They let me speak with a mgr (20min hold) and finally put me in a bigger truck but the added expense of fuel was on me and that I'd have to pick it up earlier than wanted and I'd have to deal with the fact that I was not able to pull the truck in front of my moms apt - in fact we had to carry every box, chair and piece of furniture by hand a couple hundred feet b/c the truck was too big (not a pleasant experience). U-Haul was unapologetic and rather cold. What's more, just to make me feel worse, the staff at the location we picked up the truck from said we were lucky and that he didn't relish the fact that someone was going to show up looking for the truck we took from a later reservation and he'd be yelled at. (But what were we going to do?). Finally, we finished our trek, unloaded and turned in our truck - but the staff at that location couldn't even provide us a receipt of return. We left an expensive truck with someone at the location and had NO EVIDENCE that it was returned, had a full tank of gas or was in the exact same shape as what we checked out. Nothing about U-Haul and our experience was an acceptable business practice aside from no mechanical issues with the truck itself. U-Haul does not operate in a customer oriented manner.

      U-Haul is a billion dollar company that doesn't care about it's customers or employees. They don't give discounts to no one. They don't care if you been renting trunks from them for 10 years or if you have been the employee of the year for ten straight years. They take money from the little people. That's how they are such a big company. Right now U-Haul double charged my credit card and took over $100 out of my account. Unauthorized. It's been over a month and they still haven't given my money back yet. I have spoken with dozens of customers reps. **** spoken with someone in corporate. All telling me they can't do anything and transfer me to another customer service rep. ** this point I'm forced to look for legal aid. Which will probably cost me more then they owe me. Maybe that's how they are so rich. Taken from the small people who don't have the means to fight a giant company with many lawyers on their payroll. I take care of 7 children and they literally taking food out of my kids mouth. I will never use U-Haul service again. More people should know who they're supporting with their hard earned bucks.

      I made a reservation for a one way May 12th well over a month from my moving date june26th a 4 and a half drive to move my daughter back home from college Got a call three day before and told me that the place I reserved from didn't have the truck so they gave me a location of ********************************** went there and the gentleman that had our truck couldn't get in his storage unit needless to say ***** at that location didn't have a one way truck so she called and they sent me 42 miles away to a place called the tikki hut food mart at ************************************************************************************** this place is not at a food mart it's at an abandoned building in a neighborhood in the middle of nowhere in ******** we called the lady before hand and she told us to call her when we got there said she had the truck. Called when we got there and told us that truck was not for a one way...this lady must had lived somewhere close to this building because we never saw here only talked by phone. There was a trailer there for a one way but the truck was not. This location does not need to be a u haul dealer at ALL sketch place from h*** At this time I was in tears called u haul and she said there is one at ************************************* 42 miles away the lady on the phone was nice and sympathetic and promised me that nobody would get that truck. Well guess what I got there and come to find out a lady had reserved this truck already and her reservation got cancelled. While I was there u haul called Nashville tire and told them not to give me the truck and accused the owner of canceling it. I got on that phone and told that lady from u haul that I was promised this truck and told her what h*** I had been though my husband told her they would be paying for us another hotel stay and mileage for my car at total of 83 miles the lady said she would call me back to figure out the cancel 5 mins later u haul called and told Nashville tire to give it to me. U haul needs to have more one way trucks

      If I could leave zero stars, I would. BBB or another high ranking entity may need to look into the practices of UHaul. I rented a Uhaul going from the ************** area to the coastal area of ****************. I should have known from the day that I rented the Uhaul, there was going to be problems. I checked out the Uhaul at 1045 and had to wait almost an hour before getting my keys due to there being only 1 person in the rental office. That put me behind in the loading of the U-Haul truck in itself. The same day I returned to the U-Haul dealer to have the trailer transport attached and requested assistance with loading my vehicle. I watched the attendant as he strapped on the tire harnesses and chains. I also did a pre-trip check the next morning before my departure. Halfway across the state, I noticed in a curve that the tire harnesses had came off. I stopped and that's when I noticed that both harnesses were off as well as the back end chain was not even linked to the vehicle. Leaving one chain holding the vehicle on the auto transport trailer. I was unable to open the tire strap harness clamps due to them being so *****, therefore making it impossible for me to readjust the straps myself. At this time I contacted roadside assistance at the number that was listed on my paperwork and was told that roadside assistance does not help with trailer issues. So I contacted the U-Haul dealer back in ***** that rented the package to me and his advice was to call roadside assistance back and tell them that I had a flat tire. So I did against my better judgment because that wasn't the issue the issue was the tire clamps. And even if I did have a flat tire I was told that I would have to pay to put a new tire on the trailer or the truck. I made calls to several different U-Haul numbers as well as giving a number to a corporate person. And today is June 27th 2025 and I have yet to hear back from anybody I have left messages and there has been no resolve.

      Rented a 26-ft truck for 11 days. At pickup, I was told I could add moving blankets for just $10not that it was $10 per day. Ended up charged $110 for blankets I didnt even use. The *** I spoke to was helpful and tried to advocate, but the ******* area manager refused to credit more than $20. I spent over $1,100 and this is how they handle a simple issue? Disappointing. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.

      I visited this location to buy an 86-inch expandable box for my TV ahead of an upcoming move. The boxes are right near the front door, so you dont have to go far to find them. As soon as we walked in, a male employee asked if we needed help. I said no.Then, the woman at the front counter decided to mock the way I said nomimicking my tone like a child. I let it go.While we were trying to figure out whether the box would fit in my truck or if I should wait until I reserved a U-Haul, the same woman made another unnecessary comment. This time, in an accusatory tone, she said: I dont know what yall are doing, but weve got some free boxes up here.That was out of line. First, she mocked me. Then she doubled down with a comment that felt like an insult, implying that we must be here trying to get something for free. Ive never used anyones old boxes, nor did I ask about any. Her assumption was offensive and clearly rooted in bias. Safe to say she got the cursing out of her little work life. She wont mock anyone else again.

      Absolute worst customer experience I've ever had! I have had three rentals within the last month through this company and every time has been a complete disaster with them costing me hundreds of dollars more than what was needed. I had to pay movers to stand around and wait because the guaranteed truck was not available now this time around They tell me that I have to drive an hour and a half in the opposite direction to pick up my truck that I reserved three weeks ago because it is no longer available at the location that was originally chosen, resulting, in them canceling my reservation completely two days prior to me needing it! I will never again give U-Haul my business!

      DO NOT RENT A UNIT FROM THE ********* Location! ***** Westheimer! I purchased a ********** from the office when I signed up to rent a storage. A few months later I returned to my storage to find that my lock was not on it and a new lock was put on in its place. I was NOT GIVEN any notice of this. Who does this?? The lock that was put on my storage was a circular lock that they sell in the office. Of course, when I went to the office to inquire NO ONE knew what happened. Amazing! and nothing was documented in my file about the lock being changed. The manager looked over the top of the storage while he was on a ladder and I told him what was in there, he said "Oh yeah everything is in there." The lock had to be cut off- it took forever - I was confident that my belongings were there, so I left and came back the next day after they told me they would put a new lock on and leave the key in the office. To make a very long, fishy story short ALL of my belongings were stolen. An entire house full of furniture. I filed a police report and am also having difficulty getting the managers to let us look at the cameras. My entire life was stolen- TVs, king size bedroom sets m(2), grandmothers antique furniture, sentimental items, etc, and no one seems to care...

      Complaint Regarding Storage Rental Experience at ************************************************************ I am filing this complaint regarding my experience with U-Haul Storage on **********************************, **. I have been a loyal customer since 2010 and have consistently paid my rental fees on time, despite several price increases over the years. Recently, due to ongoing rate hikes and an upcoming move out of state, I decided to vacate my unit prior to my next rental cycle.I moved out of the unit three days before the next billing date and had anticipated a prorated refund for the unused days, as is common practice in many storage agreements. However, when I inquired about this with a staff member (******), I was informed that prorated refunds are no longer offered. At no point during my rental agreement or prior interactions was I made aware of this policy ********* addition to the disappointing lack of refund, I experienced numerous inconveniences throughout my time renting at this facility. The automated entrance was frequently locked, requiring me to track down staff to gain access. Staff presence at the front desk was inconsistent, and on the day I moved out, some employees appeared to be socializing with contractors rather than assisting customers. These behaviors reflect a lack of professionalism and disregard for customer service standards.Given my long history with this company, I found the handling of my final days with the facility both disrespectful and discouraging. I feel compelled to share this experience so others can make informed decisions when choosing a storage provider.I respectfully request that the company revisit its policy on prorated refunds and consider a reimbursement for the unused days I paid for but did not occupy the unit.

Im truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you experienced during your time at our facility.Ive gone over your rental agreement from August 14, 2010, and unfortunately, it does state that refunds for unused days arent provided if the unit is vacated after the rent due date for that month. To ensure transparency, Ive emailed you a copy of the agreement for your records.While Im unable to issue a refund for the unused days, Ive sent you a gift certificate in a separate email as a gesture of apology. Its valid for two years and can be used toward any U-Haul products or services.Your loyalty since 2010 means a great deal to us, and I hope this small token helps in some way.

      The ceiling are falling in, we saw four storage units with missing ceiling panels. Property will definitely be damaged. Found a decent unit and now they want more money.
