Refused to patch tire that was deem fixable. Received a puncture in top of tire (centerline of tread). Drove straight from incident site to Discount Tire a few blocks away for a patch. Refused to fix tire since I have 285/75/R14 tires on my **** ***** **** HD which runs 245/75R45 stock. They refused stating liability reason since the tire "doesn't fit the rim". This size tire has been run on this truck for almost 20 years with no incident, and place and replace several times (same size tires) by reputable national chain tire franchises and dealerships. While I recognize the right to refuse service, I argue by doing so (refusing to fix a fixable and serviceable tire in this case) you negligently take on liability with your erroneous refusal by allowing me to continue to drive on a compromised tire to a new service station for repair. As a reminder the service is to patch the tire not consult on setup when it clearly fits the rim. Probably just another scheme to push new tires on you when you don't need them. And in this case, they'd probably have no problem replacing one tire to 245/75R14 and let me drive with a 3/1 mismatch sized set without "liability concerns" for the vehicle and occupant safety. Shame on Discount Tire and I was just going to switch my portfolio of vehicles to your business - Your loss is your competitors win.Business Response

The cat was purchased from Eurospeed intl in aug 2023.They sold me a used car that was supposed to be as is with no warranty or service contract but they hid the service contract and had me pay it and sign papers that waived the service plan at the same time I was tricked. When I closed my service plan they charged me anyway for it and never refunded me the money. They all used true car the website to give me a false price from ****** it jumped to me end up paying *****. This car dealership is very suspicious. The vehicle also appears to have been in a wreck and the car fax says no wrecks.Business Response

I made the purchase on feb 4, 2023 but didnt get my tires changed for 1-2 days later. I was charged for a product I didnt know about (tire certificates) but was only told the price of the tires would be $435 so I figured 1 they were good tires. Secondly I was told the tires I had were no good for my car and the ones that would be put on my car would be better. This was a false claim as the tires put on my vehicle damaged my vehicle and when I got the replacements 9 or so days later they fixed the problem by taking my two certificates and life installation and maintenance add on that I had bought unknowingly. I have receipts if you need them and all the info will make sense when you see them. I also need help with dmg to my vehicle from tires the employ said they could make a claim then never did it.Business Response

I went to discount tire to have tpms sensors installed in my tires.When the job was complete and my keys were returned, I proceeded to drive away.As soon as I began driving away I felt resistance in power and a squeal sound.I turned back around to the discount tire parking lot and realized one of my brakes was seized.I went into the store to report the issue to an employee.The employee stated that they do not have the expertise to provide any fix to the seized brake, but offered to remove the wheel of the affected brake so I could inspect it and try to fix the issue.The employee provided me with a pry tool to release the brake caliper.The employee then filed a claim for me so that I could go through the corporate claims department to issue compensation for any damage to my vehicle.In contact with the claims agent, I was asked to provide a statement and quote for the repairs if any were required.I had my vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic who provided a quote for the faulty brake to be replaced.The claim agent stated that I need to prove that the brake issue was due to the negligence of the employee working on my vehicle.I am surprised discount tire let me drive my vehicle with a faulty brake home, and I am not sure how specific of proof the claims agent wants as the agent claims there is no standard of proof. I thought the mechanics diagnosis and quote would be sufficient.The claim agent is declining my case until further proof is provided.Business Response

I am looking forward to hear further from the business about resolving this situation. There were many interactions with the business that were very poor practice. So I expect that the dispute is resolved in my favor. Reviewing the contents of the email thread I shared in the initial complaint will reveal instances where the claim representative attempted to dismiss my claim by self diagnosing my vehicle's issue without any knowledge of its condition. The claim representative also demanded I provide justification for my claim beyond reason and at my expense, while at the same time revealing that there is no standard to the justification that I shall provide, meaning I could give endless justification and to the claim representative's judgement not be sufficient. This is a dishonest practice, and should be reviewed by the BBB. Secondly, I believe that the business violated its duty of care where they neglected to take action after knowing that my vehicle was returned to me with a safety issue that did not exist when I handed it to them for service. They made no effort to protect my personal and property's safety. The business took no interest to investigate how this brake issue occurred, when it was their employee(s) who last engaged/interacted with and near the brake system leading to the seizing of the brake. It was up to me, the customer, to try and correct the issue on their property, so I could return home.

Had my tires rotated and purchased a new set of windshield wipers,after I got home 27 miles from store I noticed my valve stem caps were missing, a few days later , the newly installed wipers are defective, dont clear water from windshield, as a result cant see out ,which is a safety issue,I have called store , left emails with customer service , they have refused to follow up or correct the problem.Business Response

The Eider St Discount tire location in ***************************** fixed my flat tire yesterday and I also asked them to sell me a new spare tire because my spare tire was original to the car from 2008 and was past the tire use date. The office noted they would fix the flat tire because it was under warranty, and would sell me a new spare tire for which they charged me $147. I left there yesterday at 4pm, drove the 1.1 miles home and parked the garage over night in my protected garage. We woke up this morning at 4:30 am to go up to the mountains and found the flat tire they fixed was absolutely as flat as a pancake. In an absolute fury we had to take it off and went to put the new spare back on, only to find THE SPARE TIRE WAS THE SAME ONE WE BROUGHT IN. So they charged us $147 FOR THE SAME GOD **** SPARE TIRE we initially brought in. Not only is this complete fraud and theft, its a safety issue. I cant even go back to this store today (Sunday 1/29) because they are closed. I have left messages but I want to exert every bit of energy to alert every person possible what a shady and dishonest business this company is and I want compensation for the fraudulent charge for the new tire, the Uber costs to drive there and back, the time wasted, a reimbursement for the wasted ski lift tickets we could not use today.Business Response

I bought my first set of tires at this location over 20 years ago and for decades they have had great service. 3 months ago I bought a new set of ****** tires that were $200 a tire. At the suggestion of the manager I also purchased road hazard protection all 4 tires. This morning I had a blowout and did NOT hit anything in the road. The tow truck driver suggested that by his estimate the tire was defective. I concurred. I would have expected to get more than 3 months use out of the tires. The set of tires I purchased here before lasted only one year. STILL, they are trying to charge me and additional $51 fee for road hazard on a new tire. The assistant manager ******************************* was not helpful and another employee wanted to argue with me and place the blame on me without addressing the issue at hand. I will NEVER use discount tire again, nor can I recommend this business after decades of being a loyal customer.Business Response

This complaint is against Discount Tire/and their corporate office. On 12/20/22 I purchased $890 worth of tires for my truck. Shortly after I came out of my house I noticed one center cap was missing from a 20" wheel. As these are put on with a rubber mallet by Discount Tire employees they never fall off. I contacted the Discount Tire dealer at *********************************************, and talked to ******* who told me to drive over, she would take picture of center cap and get a replacement and call me the following Tuesday. No call, waited til Friday to call her back, she said she would check and call me Tues or Wednesday. No call, waited til Friday, asked for store manager, he said ******* off, and he would get to the bottom of this and call me back next day, Saturday. No call from store manager, so on Tues, 1/24/23 called Discount tire customer service, talked to **** who said he would email store manager and Discount tire Regional Manager ****** and have them contact me. No calls received by today 1/25/23. That is 4 promised calls from Discount Tire employees--have not received one call from them. Their policy is to act concerned and reassuring, but do nothing. Please help me get a center cap for my truck, Over the last 20 years I have given Discount Tire a lot of business. Help me resolve this problem. I took my car in for a routine tire inspection because I had a slow leak. They got me in for my appointment, tried to convince me to buy a new set of tires multiple times while I waited, but then took my tire off and found it had a patch. They then told me because it was not patched AND plugged, they could not put my tire back on my vehicle. They gave me the option again to buy a new or used tire from them, which I said no again. They then said they could not put my tire back on for me. I told them again I was not buying a tire from them and they said they could put my spare on but not the original tire. They then put my spare on and put my tire that they had taken off the rim in my back hatch area. So not only did they pressure me to buy tires, they took apart my tire and returned it to me without putting it back on the rim. I then took it to a local tire shop, who said they believed they were trying to trap me into buying a new tire because there is no reason they could not put the tire back on. The local tire shop then put my tire back together, fixed the slow leak and changed it out with the spare. It was a total mess and I cannot believe I was treated this way by a business. I assume they were trying to take advantage of me because I am a younger female. I was not charged anything by them, but I would like some sort of explanation for the way they took care of my stuff.Business Response

I live in the ********************* for more than two decades and since then always been a loyal customer at ********************** at the location "**** S CENTRAL ST ****************** for all my three cars now and the ones i had previously .I have an ****X5 2018 model that has a 20" wheels on it, it has a special performance staggered tires from the *** manufacturer that are specific to the summer season that i came to know while i was driving in the winter and noticed the difference on the grip of the tires during snow.Went to Discount Tires at the below location that i normally go for all my three cars and shared them the quote and price i got from the *** dealer for all season tires that are run flat as i don't have or the *** doesn't offer spare tires Discount Tires **** S CENTRAL ST AURORA,** ***** I talked to the guy named ****** at the discount tire location and explained him all the requirements details i was looking for, he understood the details and placed the order since the store didn't had any inventory. I got a call an email confirming the new tires arrived, i went to the store on January 13th to swap my summer tires with the new all season tires, talked to the store *********************** dropped the car and went there for the pickup after paying the amount i owe for the new summer tires.I looked at the new tires swapped on the car and some reason didn't fell good or right and was very skeptical about the new tires put it on, i drove the car home and like i assumed din't feel good on the drive back home. I didn't feel the grip of the tires to the road and didn't had a good feeling. I rechecked the tires online on discount tires and it clearly mentioned the new tires ordered were the same summer tires that i already had and were not recommended for snow conditions.Called the store, talked to *****, he immediately agreed he wasn't aware of all the details and called in for ****** the person who originally helped me with the order, ****** agreed immediately he placed the wrong order and assured me he will place the order for the new right tires and told me not to worry about the price or worry about returning the tires already on the car. I didn't hear anything on the new order or got any email on the updates, i called the store back after few days and talked to *****, to my surprise ***** was letting me know he called me back and couldn't leave me a message and the phone kept ringing. This was a surprise as no one complained about my phone or any issues reaching out to me, however ***** placed the new order for winter tires as the all season tires available are not run flat tires.He didn't mention about anything on the price on the new winter tires or talked about if i owe anything from my pocket and i was under the same assumption that was assured to me by ****** about the new tires and not worry about the price or anything else that comes up.Today i went to swap the summer tires with the new winter tires and i waited in the lobby for about more than two hours, when i was ready to pick the keys was told i am supposed to pay the full price for the new winter tires since i would keep the new summer tires that was accidentally placed, I tried explaining him the details again and again about everything that was discussed and assured me not to worry about anything, the manger was on his own note of not agreeing to anything, i told him i was only willing to take the tires that was already yin use past few days assuming discount tires would trash them or destroy them.I told him i already have the summer tires and would not be paying additional amount for the summer tires that wouldn't help me at all, the store manger wasn't willing to understand or even think what i was trying to say would make sense instead has his own theory and been going through the same details.Its very hard to talk to the person not willing to understand or correlate the details on the situation or putting himself to think about where i am coming from and what i am trying to say. He changed the stuff after i told him i wouldnt be interested talking the wrong put summer tires on the car and he made the changes and still made me pay the remaining extra difference amount that was on the winter tires.Had i let my other old summer tires that were in good condition recycled at discount tires going with the assumption of the tires initially told to me were all season tires then i would end up paying for the new summer tires and the new winter tires which is complete RIP off to the customer.My point here is i am a customer and offering business to *********************** for more than two decades and deeply hurt and not having the trust or any respect for discount tires from the recent terrible experience visits. I would like the customer team to look into this at the earliest convenience and help out from this terrible experience, its awful and feel very bad for all the business i gave to discount tires that don't have any respects or regards to the loyal customers that are there for decades..Business Response
