I was contacted by ************* who wanted to publish the book ************************* Tiger. I agreed to pay $175 and the balance $800 to be taken from royalties. Then he started badgering me for *************** for which I paid $4500. Not satisfied with that he kept on contacting me asking for more money. He sent me a copy of orders which amounted to over $9000 royalties to be paid to me. I reluctantly sent a further ****. He promised me faithfully he would not let me down and I would get the royalties by March. I am still waiting. He has been away from the office for over a month, during which time I have been told they are holding the book as there is the balance of $800 to pay. I have written emails stating it will be taken from the royalties. I have no more money and I cannot pay what is owed unless I receive the royalties. He does not answer my emails although I have begged him to honour his word and pay the royalties. I am desperate now as we are only pensioners with a very limited income and i have borrowed the extra money and used funds for household repairs. I need the promised royalties.

      Dear BBB,

We are grateful for this chance to respond to ******************************* concern.
Firstly, we sincerely empathize with ************** and what she or her loved one has experienced in the care of one of our agents. We would like to assure her that this does not represent PageTurner Press and Media in any way, as our authors are our partners in thriving for success. To further assist ************** in this matter, we have begun to endorse her concerns with our **************** We are also actively investigating any corresponsdence our agent may have had in relation to her concern. We will need to verify the orders that she has mentioned. This is because it is unconventional for any agent to release statements declaring royalties for unpaid book sales. Thus, we will not tolerate this behavior and take action to prevent it from continuing. We hope that this will springboard into a satisfactory resolution for ****************************

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. I have numerous emails from ************* which confirms the promises made and the threats he uses that I will lose all the money invested if I don't issue more money. All I want are the royalties that were PROMISED.

      Regards,

This vanity-press threatened to have a work plagiarized of mine published with not only a longstanding outfit I rejoined [I was with the one place off-and-on-since 2011] but also a print-on-demand family owned publishing outfit out in **********, *******. Dear BBB,

We are much obliged for giving us the opportunity to respond to Mr. ******** concerns.
Given the gravity of the allegations that ****************** has written, we have, naturally, had to delve into our database and have scoured any recorded communications that we may have had with him. In fact, his correspondence does not point to PageTurner Press and Media by name nor affiliation. Thus, we would encourage him to contact our *************** if his concerns are indisputably directed toward PageTurner Press and Media.  It is of utmost importance that we preserve the integrity and legitimacy of our business, thus; we will be sure to find a resolution to this concern and the extent of our involvement in the matter. We hope to be in touch with ****************** to bring this matter to a close.

I was initially contacted by pageturner press to rebrand and publish my book which I wrote. I was charged $800 for the transfer of the copyright from my old publisher Xlibris. It all seemed ok as I received my newly designed book cover and we started the editing by pageturner editors. This never was completed. After about Six months I received a call from a movie production company connected with PageTurner to adapt my book into a movie. After being convinced, I gave them $5000. I spoke with a fake movie producer, for the Metro films and after several conversations their entire faade fell apart because they couldnt produce any answers to the questions that I had, and they were trying to convince me to find investors to come up with $100,000 to pay for the script to be written for the movie. I have course did not come up with $100,000 so the entire project stalled but during the entire process PageTurner kept telling me that I didnt have to come up with any money but then would say we have to find someone to pay for your movie. It just got totally ridiculous, after attempting to have two kick off meetings with the movie producer. When I questioned the integrity of the producer slightly, he got offended, and thats when I realize it was all a scam apparently run out of ***************. They actually had wording in the initial movie contract that I was responsible for paying the entire cost but when I asked him he kept telling me that I dont so basically they were trying to trick me, hoping that I didnt read the contract and would lock myself in which would also allow them to have control over my book. Definitely.

      Dear BBB,

We are much obliged for the chance to address ******************** concerns.
First, we would like to assure ******************** that we will look into the services that he has enumerated. Then, we would like to clarify that we endorse a select number of our authors to different film companies for the opportunity to have their books adapted into movies. This process may require them to submit materials that allow the said film companies to acquire their books. However, we would like to clarify that PageTurner Press and Media does not offer its authors contracts of this nature. The extent of our involvement is only to assist the authors in fulfilling the requirements in the film adaptation eligibility. Third, we would like to assure ******************** that we will endorse his concerns, including his refund request, to the PageTurner Press and Media **************** We hope that these resolutions will pave the way for ******************** concern to have a suitable close.

Several years ago, I published a 2nd edition of my book, The ************ Experiment with Page Turner Press to put the book in my name and out of my pen name. Since this book was published, I have been contacted by my agent with offers that sound too good to be true. After 10 years of not selling books, suddenly they supposedly came up with offers from publishing companies for the movie rights offering 500k+ as compensation but they always came with the need to invest in advertising for the book which was as high as 50k+. I reveived phone call after phone call and high pressure from the company to invest in this advertisement. I declined as I couldnt responsibly invest at this time in advertising my book. Dangling a high reward in front of me they pressured me into sending them money to supposedly further my chances of being picked up for a movie deal. After the 3rd attempt with a supposed offer from ******** Publishing, I became even more suspicious of their efforts to get money out of me. I contacted ******** Publishing and asked if they actually had made an offer to Page Turner Press on my behalf. They responded saying that the had not and have not done business with Page Turner Press. This proves Page Turner Press is just trying to scam me. There has not been ANY proof of any legitimate offer by any publishing house through Page Turner Press on my behalf. They are just scamming their own authors!

I would like this publically noted so that even though Page Turner Press is a legitimate company, they try to take advantage of their clients and essentially, scam them out of hard earned money. I was suspicious of this throughout our process and had it confirmed recently. This is shameful and should be noted if not criminally or civil court pursued. They made specific note that their company had a "B" rating with the BBB but it should be an "F". I have not yet decided if this will be the end of this matter or if I will pursue civil remedies against Page Turner Press.

Page Turner is a criminal operation. My poetry book was submitted to be published by Pageturner Press. By the end of October 2022, before they had even published the book, the Contract Director of Pageturner Press called to tell me that he had contacted HarperCollins regarding their publishing of my book, and that HarperCollins would pay me $210,000. That the payment would be for my poetry book to be featured in the HarperCollins ************************** for 12 months. This Contract Director further said that it would cost Pageturner $24,000, and that Pageturner would cover $16,000 and therefore I must pay the remaining $8,000. Then he added that I would get $184,000 out of the $210,000 that HarperCollins would pay me. He said it was because Pageturner would get 12% of the profits. At first, the prospect of getting my book published by this famous traditional publisher who would also pay me $184,000 sounded very exciting. But on a second thought, the story seemed bogus because I would have to find $8,000 with immediate effect. The whole thing became baffling to me, to say the least. So, I called my mom who happened to be with me and told her what the Pageturner Contract Director said. My mother and I first showed interest, and my mother decided to talk to him on the phone. But before we could talk of finding the money, he was putting pressure on my 74-year-old mom to pay the money that very day! My mother and I asked Pageturner Contract Director to email us the terms of the agreement he received from HarperCollins. He said hed send it but did not; instead, he sent two documents but they were not HarperCollins documents. The agreement would have been documentation from HarperCollins to show that they were really seeking my poetry book for publishing in their ************************** for 12 months. Then we called HarperCollins, and an editor from there said they had no pending contract with me for my poetry book and she had no idea what Pageturner Press was talking about. IT WAS ALL A SCAM! That day and for several days after, he kept bothering us anxiously, to pay the $8,000. He called my cell phone on one particular day, up to five times. He gave me the option of either closing the above business interaction, or whether to get another publisher instead of HarperCollins. He said the other publisher was asking for over ***** copies of my poetry book (my book which they were supposedly revising before it could be published). He said Pageturner would pay me for the ***** copies. But I declined to follow this route. It would have been a dead end. It was my mother who told me about Pageturner Press because they were supposed to do a reprint of her book, a ********* devotional that was published in 2019. But the Senior Author Advisor who was supposed to await the submission of my mothers ********* devotional and do my poetry book and website, suddenly disappeared, making off with a total of $1,300 which my mother paid to her. When she asked about the Senior Author Advisor, she learned from Pageturner Head of Acquisitions that the woman had returned to *************** to bury her father and they couldnt tell whether she would ever come back to the States. The Contract Director would have taken our $8,000 or the reimbursements for the ***** copies of my poetry book (if at all it was published), apart from the $1,300 they took from my mother. They would have gotten away with stealing so much more than $1,300. The bottom line to all this, is that we no longer do business with Pageturner and actually hope they return our $1,300.

      Dear BBB,

We are much obliged for this opportunity to address **************** concern.

Upon review of **************** project with us, our files showed that she had availed of a publishing service with us, which was for her poetry collection. Last February 28, 2022, she made an initial payment of $300 for a $1,000 service.

As to her concern regarding her possible contract with HarperCollins, please know that it is part of our services to pitch our authors books to different traditional publishers. And HarperCollins being one of the biggest traditional publishers globally, we were eyeing them to be one of the publishers we pitch our authors books to. However, we can only do the pitching once the book is already published and, therefore, available for marketing. But ************** stopped communicating with our production team last year. In fact, our production team sent her a file for review. It was for her project. They also sent a follow-up email November of last year. Still, the production team have not heard from her. Had she continued her communication with us, her poetry collection would then have been published and available for pitching to traditional publishers.

As to her concern regarding her mother, we would be more than obliged if she can provide the details so we can check it on our end.

      Sincerely,

      PageTurner Press and Media

I am having several problems with the Hybrid publisher, Page Turner. When I was first contacted on 9/13/2022 by a guy named ***********, I was told he represented a company called Metro Films (he never mentioned Page Turner), and that they wanted to acquire the film rights to my self-published book, She's Obsessed. *********** informed me that all I would have to do was get the book registered. When I asked him if he could help me get the registration, he said that he could for $200.00 (I was told by him twice that if I didn't sign the form he sent me, I wouldn't be charged). After I gave him $200.00, I received a publishing contract from Page Turner for my book though a publishing contract was never discussed. I told *********** that I was not interested in doing any business with Page Turner, and everything went very bad. He got nasty with me, emailing me saying I wasn't established, so I shouldn't have an attitude. I'm now being told by the other associate that calls every day that I am not getting my money back, though I received an email from Page Turner saying I would get a refund in seven business days and that everything would be canceled. I'm also receiving harassing phone calls from Page Turner, who is still trying to get me to sign even after I have asked them several times to stop. I've shouted to them to stop calling, but they still call me every day Restricted. I called and spoke with an MG on 9/21/22, and she assured me this would be handled. I also talked to ****** on 10/3/22 to report the harassment, and he said he would contact me back with a resolution though he never did--all that I received was more harassing phone calls. I'm concerned because the guy I spoke with the other day said I signed a contract, so this isn't going away. I don't know what else to do to get my $200.00 back, make sure my book is not roped up with Page Turner, and make the harassing phone calls stop. Please help!Thank you,

      Dear BBB,

We are much obliged for the opportunity to address Mr. ******** concerns.
Last September 19, 2022, he availed of a publishing package for $800. On the said date, he made an initial payment of $200. However, we sent him the refund of $200 last September 21, 2022.
Also, we have included him in our do not call list after our last agents communication with him.
As to the clients concern regarding ***********, yes, we did have an employee who goes by that name, although the said employee is no longer with us. However, we are not certain if this is the same *********** ****************** mentioned since it appears, based on Mr. ******** description, ****************** is working for Metro Films. We, however, are familiar with Metro Films since it is one of the companies we endorse our books to for film-to-book adaptations.
In sum, Mr. ******** concerns had already been addressed. He has already received satisfactory restitution to his request for a refund and he has already been placed in our do not call list.

      Sincerely,

      PageTurner Press and Media
