Experian received a recent request regarding an individual's credit information that does not appear to have been sent directly by them or to be authorized by them. As a precautionary measure, no action has been taken on the alleged request.
According to the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, "if the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumers file at a national consumer credit reporting company is disputed by the consumer and the consumer notifies the company directly of such dispute, the company shall reinvestigate free of charge." Therefore, any inaccurate information can be disputed directly with Experian for free. If an individual believes that information in their personal credit report is inaccurate or incomplete,they should call the phone number that displays on their Experian personal credit report or visit the secure website at ****************************************************************.
They may also write to the address on their Experian personal credit report. Include the account name and number for any item on the credit report that is being disputed and state the specific reason why the information is believed to be inaccurate. The dispute process may take up to 30 days (45 days when disputing information in the annual free credit report). Once Experian completes the processing of the dispute, they will promptly notify the individual of the outcome.Customer Answer

I am filing this complaint against Experian due to their failure to resolve inaccurate 60-day late payment entries on my student loan accounts, reported by Navient, which severely damage my credit. I disputed these entries on March 25, 2025, citing seven accounts ****************** with reporting dates of 02/16/2007, 09/07/2004, 09/06/2005, 06/05/2006, 09/01/2006, 11/22/2005, and 12/26/2006, all falsely marked late for March 2025. Despite the ***** 30-day resolution requirement, over 90 days have passed, and Experians April 23, 2025, response addressed irrelevant inquiries instead. Their recent CFPB reply claims Navient verified the data, but Navient deflected my July 18, 2024, dispute to MOHELA (who ignored my March 25, 2025, dispute) without proof. This violates 15 U.S.C. 1681i(a)(1) and 1681e(b). I demand Experian reinvestigate, remove these unverifiable entries per 15 U.S.C. 1681i(a)(5), and provide an updated report. Please provide the consumers specific disputes along with their complete identification information (Social Security number, full name, current address,previous addresses in the last two years and date of birth). Also, please include one copy of a government issued identification card, such as a driver's license, state ID card, etc., and one copy of a utility bill, bank or insurance statement, etc.
