Dishonest business. An entity I am a client of, suffered a data breach, and offered us credit monitoring service by Experian. They pay, I am supposed to enroll. Experian's website keeps telling me that the activation code from Calpers is not valid (I double-checked it), and their customer **********************, when available after long wait times, tells me I should call back other times and speak with more "informed" agents.Disgusting! They get the money from Calpers, and are set not to provide the service they are paid for.Experian Consumer Services

Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding the FICO(R) Score 8 included in your membership. We realize that you may have seen a discrepancy in the score you received from a lender related to your credit application and the score provided as part of your membership. We try to make it a point to inform our customers that various scoring models are available in the marketplace and have different potential uses. For instance, we include a disclosure on our site describing the score provided with the credit monitoring membership you purchased. Here, the score that is provided as part of your membership is the FICO(R) 8 model based on Experian(R) data. It is a score that many lenders use in the credit application decision-making process. FICO(R) Scores, ranging from 300 to 850, are developed by Fair ***** Corporation which specializes in developing credit-scoring systems for lenders and other businesses. This can help you see and understand how lenders may view your credit worthiness. It is used by many lenders and is indicative of your overall credit risk. Certain industries may use custom credit scores that are tailored to their specific needs. The custom scores may be unique to a specific industry, such as mortgage lending or auto lending. These custom scores may be created based on information found in credit reports together with other information from the lenders own portfolio, such as account history. We hope that this provides you some clarity as to the discrepancy between the two scores you received and the various scores available in the marketplace.Review fromLauren B

Thank you for writing and expressing your concern regarding your membership with Experian. Our records indicate that you ordered a one-dollar credit report along with a trial Experian IdentityWorksSM Premium membership on July 31, 2023. The membership was not cancelled; consequently, in accordance with the published terms of our offer, the credit card provided was charged our monthly membership fee on August 22, 2023. Per your request, your paid benefits also ceased at that time. Our website describes the offer and the order form details the terms and conditions of the offer, including billing at the end of the trial and monthly thereafter unless and until the customer notifies us of their wish to discontinue. The consumer agrees to these terms when submitting their order. We have, as a courtesy, issued a refund totaling $24.99 on September 11, 2023. Please allow 3 - 5 business days for these funds to process to the credit card account. At this time, we would like to express our regret that your experience with Experian IdentityWorksSM may not have met your expectation or our standard of excellence. We strive for exceptional customer satisfaction and hope we have addressed your area of concern to your expectation.Review fromMonnie L

Experian does not deserve even one star. Have had a business account for over ten years and Experian decided to change their system in March 2023. Tried about 20 numbers and all requested a social security number. THIS IS A BUSINESS ACCOUNT. Called some numbers and if did get someone they gave me a number that requested a social security number???? Sent letters via **** to three addresses, certified, and Experian continues to bill out company. Cannot cancel them once you have set up an account. The government should not allow them to function without putting some stops in place to hold them accountable......Experian Consumer Services

Experian is impossible to contact. I have called all available 800 #s associated with Experian and am unable to reach an actual person to speak with. I logged onto their website to upload documents for 2 disputes in which Experian is showing incorrect information on my credit report, and every time I type out all of the information and add my documents, I click continue and Im sent right back to the first page asking for my personal information only to restart the process, fill it all out, attach my documents and have the same thing happen again. They are sending false information to credit wise which has impacted my overall credit score immensely. I have an account that was paid off in full and another credit card I made a 50% of the balance payment on and both accounts are showing as delinquent almost 30 days later now. Shame on Experian for falsifying records and making it impossible for customers to contact them in any and every way.Experian Consumer Services

Terrible. I have paid for credit monitoring service for 10 years & on the day I need their help; the sole reason to pay for their support, they failed me. Not knowing what the specific issue affecting my credit I was of course concerned about identity theft or fraud or some unknown. The challenges I had today were contacting them, time spent, 1 hostile representative/supervisor, questions not answered, and inability to help. The first hurdle they threw at me was speaking to a representative.Contacting Experian: when I found out there was a mystery problem with my credit file I was not conveniently in front of a computer & logged into their website. A ****** search for Experian customer support gave an 888 number that was COMPLETELY useless. As a paying customer it is not easy to contact customer support.Time spent: I was on the phone for a total of 1h 22m; the first 1h5m call was disconnected causing me to call back and re-explain my situation for the 7th time. During that time I basically had to battle the service representatives in order to get help, they seemed like they were all looking for a way to tell me they couldnt help and didnt know what was going on. Sorry I cannot help were the default words from customer **********************. Not one person was motivated to help me at all, I had to drag them along and demand to be helped. More than once I said I am not a credit expert, which is why I am paying for this service so that I can get expert help.Hostility: after the first customer ********************** rep could not be helpful, I asked for a supervisor. I waited about 15m to speak to a hostile man who was not helpful. Not at all what customer ********************** should be.Ultimately, I walked away not entirely certain if my credit is safe, told to email/upload documents, not having my questions answered & confident that Experian as a company is useless to its paying customer.Experian Consumer Services

This Experian credit reporting is a joke and I hope the BBB can and will do something about how they do there reporting. All other scores across the board has the samerhing Experian has, but my score with them fluctuate when they give a point its 1 or 2 but when they take a point its always 10 - 20 points. I work really hard on keeping a good score all others my score is 769 and Experian I'm at 690. All accounts are the same. And the lies they tell about reporting and how lenders report is a lie it's all Experian. I paid for a service that keeps me under there thumb. How pitiful this unreliable credit reporting is. I hope with all these same complaints BBB WILL DO Some investigating on this company and how they hold people's integrity and credit score hostage.Experian Consumer Services

Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding the FICO(R) Score 8 included in your membership. We realize that you *** have seen a discrepancy in the score you received from another source related to your credit application and the score provided as part of your membership. This can help you see and understand how lenders *** view your credit worthiness. It is used by many lenders and is indicative of your overall credit risk. Certain industries *** use custom credit scores that are tailored to their specific needs. The custom scores *** be unique to a specific industry, such as mortgage lending or auto lending. These custom scores *** be created based on information found in credit reports together with other information from the lenders own portfolio, such as account history. In regard to changes to your score, your FICO(R) Score is calculated based on the data in your credit report at the time you request your credit report and score. Every time you request a new score, a new credit report is pulled, and your new score is calculated based on the information in your credit report, up to once a day. Be aware, your credit report *** change often. Differences in your score *** be due to a change in balance on one or more of your credit cards, payment updates, or the addition of new accounts. Even the fact that your account(s) is one month older can affect your score. If there are inaccuracies on your credit report, these could also be affecting your score and should be disputed directly with the credit-reporting agency providing that information. In general, there are many factors that can affect an individuals credit score, such as payment history, current debt, available credit to debt ratio, etc. The actual scoring model and its calculations are proprietary to Fair ***** Corporation. Credit scores are usually calculated based on the combination of all the credit factors in your credit report. Your credit score is not based solely on one single item or behavior. So although you *** have done something that you think should have changed your score, the FICO(R) Score actually looks at how this information combines with other information in your credit report and how, if any, this changes your credit score. Your score *** go up, down, or remain constant depending on each factor as well as a unique combination of factors. The score analysis section that comes with your FICO(R) Score should help you understand what specific credit factors had a positive and negative affect on your FICO(R) Score.Review fromBen A
