We purchased solar from Semper Solaris in late 2019and it was installed by two guys who said they were from (I assume) a subcontractor to Semper called ************** of ******** **. Just prior to the solar install we had a roofing company inspect and rectify any issues with the quality of the roof so Semper would have a problem free install.Jumping forward to this winter I went into the attic during one the heavy rainstorms and found we have a number of leaks from the roof penetrations. My first calls to Semper starting ~12/12/22 led to two guys showing up who looked at the roof, fixed possibly one or two of the leaks and left saying the damage was more extensive than they could address that afternoon and would need to talk to management who would get back to me. They said the installers had drilled multiple holes looking for rafters and just squirted some sealant into the holes poorly. As has been all too often the case I had to call Semper.Jumping further forward three techs were scheduled to fix the roof on 01/07/23 but never showed up. After I called Semper I was told it had been rescheduled due to rain. However Semper failed to call, text or email me of the change of plans. And as they would have known if they called the ******** office rather than look at a weather app, it was sunny most of the day with sprinkles starting at ~3:15pm, seven hours after they were to have started work.I believe Im more than a dozen calls to Semper to get the roof fixed. I understand the weather issues Im painfully aware of the weather as every storm does more damage to my roof structure as the plywood swells and cups with the moisture and increases the now high probability I will have to deal with mold in the attic. Semper call back only when pushed and has been exceedingly ineffective in remediating the issue with the damage to my home from their inexcusably poor work quality.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********.I'm now waiting for the next hard rain to inspect my attic to see if the leaks are indeed repaired.
The crew that finally showed up to do the repairs appeared competent.
All that said, the communication difficulties with Semper Solaris are so unprofessionally difficult it is apparent they are mostly concerned with the original sale which they consider a one-and-done. That they consider further service a low priority. Nor do they have any conception of proper customer service. I found out the team was showing up only 1-1/2 hours before they arrived even though I'd called and emailed Semper Solaris repeatedly for several days to see if the date was still valid. And no follow up whatsoever has occurred.
If the roof doesn't leak we are good...

This is a major complaint against Semper Solaris. We have signed up for an $80k solar installation that has taken TWO YEARS to complete and still not done (started in Jan 2021). There has been vague communication and no single accountable project manager from the beginning. People who have been in touch with who have not been able to resolve or provide the right info to us are *******************************, *******************, *******************************, ***********************. I escalated my issues to the customer concern center and still no resolution. I asked to speak with the owner and was told that he wont help me or speak to me. The entire project has gone into a black hole.Specific issues encountered:-sales rep difficult to communicate with and understand what we need..-no single project managerand extremely disorganized (have to chase them to get info)-issues with design layout that needed to be redone due to poor planning and coordination with pool ************** Inability to work well with other partner to come to a reasonable solution -Significant delay and disorganization when it came to providing any information or follow through on electrical panel permit upgrade *************** were told that they were ready to install only to find another issue that they failed to address upfront. -No project manager to verify and guide us accurately as to what is needed on our panel. What we had installed was originally approved, only to find out later that they didnt guide us accurately and still fail to take accountability.-Ran out of time with the Solar credit and financing because it took so long and was finally able to get an extension, but no one is responding to our inquiries now and time is almost out -After going through all of the steps to get the permits updated that expired, we now have to replace the panels again and get PG&E back involved which is a nightmare. We are tired, angry, frustrated, and desperate to finally get our Solar. Please help!Business Response

I received a quote and signed the documents in August 2023 for a solar battery backup system. The sales person did not complete the paperwork and I lost the original loan rate. After multiple change orders and a small refund the work proceeded. Installation of the battery backup system ($13,000) was finalized October 29th and a final inspection on 11/14/22. I had a pest control inspection for the roof vents on 12/8/22 and they found that the area near the solar panels on my roof where the cables were installed to connect to the battery panels had never been retiled and my roof had only black plastic garbage bags in two large areas. This exposes my home to serious property damage. I made multiple attempts to get this resolved. They finally sent someone out to correct this on 12/28 after multiple requests for these roof tiles to be installed and sealed and unfortunately all they did was break up some roof tiles and stick those pieces around the plastic bags and created troughs for the water to flow even worse than before. I have now had the roof inspected by an actual licensed roofing contractor and will need to pay him to mitigate these issues properly to protect my home. The potential damage from this situation could be thousands of dollars. This is unacceptable. I have no confidence that they have the expertise to replace the roof tiles and fix this properly. I request that they refund me for the cost of the contractor repairs and my legal consulting fees.Business Response

They have not returned my calls and have not gotten in touch with me. There has been no attempt to rectify this situation. They made one call 12/31/22 stating they would call me back to discuss a solution and then never called back. That was more than 3 weeks ago. They have done nothing at this point to make things right with the damage they caused to my property.Business Response

I was quoted a price for a system on May 20th of 6-8 weeks from time of signing the contract to installation. - Timeline was on track with permits submitted in early July. No Communication regarding issues - On July 17th, I received a change order (6 weeks into the process) - for different panels due to supply chain. I signed the change order on that same day. - 30 days pass, August 16th I was informed via text that my project was re-submitted for permitting.- I received 2 automated texts saying permit was approved first and second week of Sept. saying I would receive a call to schedule my install. After receiving no phone calls I called in an was on hold 2 different times with the phone system disconnecting my call after 30 plus minutes on hold - I reviewed a text on Sept. 16th (nearly 2 weeks later than saying my project was approved) to schedule the install - The install was scheduled for Oct. 6th and went very smooth; even had the city approval the next business day. Was told on Oct. 11th that it would take around 3 weeks for SDGE to provide permission to operate (PTO)- Received a Docusign on Oct. 28th to update the application with correct name (Mistake on part of Semper); later found out that SDGE asked this to be corrected on Oct. 17th; Semper waiting 10 days to fix the issue and submit application for PTO - 10/30 - Contacted by Project manager was given a date of Nov. 18th for possible PTO per SDGE.- Semper called on 11/14 asking if they could send someone to take another photo of my meter because the one submitted for SDGE did not include key pieces of info needed per the application requirements - Since that date I had received no updates on PTO, and I reached out to Semper for Project timeline, no answer.- Contacted Salesperson, ******************* researched and was told by end of week (Dec. 2nd) was the latest from SDGE. Followed up 12/7; no response - 12/13 sent another email; response was escalated to management, reminded that its a SDGE issue.Business Response

Semper Solaris installed 36 solar panels on my home:- Installation: December, 2018 - Amount paid to Semper: $42,000 - Solar installation plus continuous monitoring - Panels have stopped working on 2 occasions. Once in June of 2021 and again ~ November of '21. This was due to faulty inverters which have rendered the system inoperable. This wasn't noticed the second time around until end of Oct, beginning of Nov. '22. At this stage estimated incurred Net Metering charges are in excess of $5,000. - Since learning of this I have contacted Semper Solaris in excess of 20 times with no response other than a ticket has been opened. There has been no feedback from Semper as to a) when the system can be repaired or b) what they can do in regards to the net metering charges incurred. - Project # *****, Address is *****************************************************************Business Response

I contracted with Semper Solaris to install solar on my roof in October. The job included opening a spot on my roof by setting tiles aside, installing an underlayment for the solar panels, and then restoring the roof around the newly installed panels. I was clear with the salesman and everyone I talked to that getting the roof reinstalled before December rains was most important. The solar installation went well and we finally got through the city inspeciton. On December 5 I received notice stating "congratulations, your project is complete." Of course, the roofing tiles have not been restored and I've tried everything I can think of short of driving to ****************************************************************************************** find out when the roof will be restored. I'm filing a complaint today and beginning tomorrow I will start contacting roofers, get a quote for the job, and then file a lawsuit in Superior Court to recover the cost of restoring *******.Business Response

We signed a contract with Semper Solaris on Dec. 15, 2021 and paid a $1,000 deposit for them to install 4 solar panels and a solar battery for our home. Per the contract, the "Approximate Start Date" was "2022-02-07" with "Approximate Completion Date" "2022-03-07", with the caveat that all estimated timelines are "weather permitting" & "Due to uncertainty regarding Covid infection **************** as well as microprocessor supply, no install is guaranteed to be complete in 2021." We were led to believe we would have everything installed during the first quarter of 2022, that they would take care of all the permitting & necessary paperwork with our utility company. However, we have only heard excuses & experienced delays. As recently as Oct, 11, 2022, we learned that they still had not submitted all of the necessary paperwork, & that for the paperwork they had submitted, some were incomplete or incorrect. We have had to take the lead to ensure they coordinate with our utility provider, ***************************, & still they continue to say that they are "working on it" with the most recent excuse being that it was due to our utility provider because they didn't approve the project to move forward. However, the truth of the matter is that Semper Solaris needs to make corrections to the paperwork they submitted to the utility company before they can approve. We are very disappointed with their lack of performance and accountability. The rebate window with PG&E is due to expire this month, and we've since learned that we are not the only customers experiencing delays. We would like a total refund of our deposit & to void our contract. We are not asking for compensation for my *********** time for the multiple phone calls, ************ project managing this for Semper Solaris. We emailed them on Dec. 6th to cancel our project. They have not replied. This is truly a lack of performance on their part. We have been more than patient and want a resolution.Business Response

Semper Solaris sub contracted my solar install job to the lowest bidder. Installer did a poor job, however, they reported the system passed inspection and I was able to turn it on. In attempting to setup the monitoring, it was discovered that Semper gave me a used enphase combiner which was already commissioned to another customer AND my system was never actually inspected! Semper has since turned off my system while we wait for a replacement enphase combiner and inspection. I am now paying my Southern California ********************* AND my solar loan until they resolve the issue. I believe Semper owes me compensation for the *** power bills I now have to pay while they resolve the issue and should face fines for activating the system without inspection.Business Response
