On 4/25/2023, I noticed a pending charge of $21.84 on my secondary checking account from **********************. This was not an authorized charge and, as it was unexpected and on my secondary checking account, caused $72.00 in overdraft fees on my account as there was not funds available for this transaction. I received no prior notification of this upcoming charge and received no receipt from Stamps.com after this charge showing why I was charged this amount. I need this charge refunded, as well as a refund issued for all associated overdraft fees caused by this fraudulent charge.

    Dear ******,
Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate and consider your feedback and take our customersconcerns very seriously.  Normally, a customer is responsible for all service fees.  However, rest assured that we have issued a courtesy refund totaling $21.84 to your credit card.  We show that your account is closed.   Your confirmation number is: 230501-002898.

We show that this account was fully activated on 3/24/23.  To create any Stamps.com account, you must complete the multi-step registration process at www.stamps.com.

We show that a Welcome Email confirming activation had been sent to you on 3/24/23.  We hear your concerns and we always aim to fully disclose our fees before any account can be created.  We do not advertise or offer a free or pay-as-you-go service, and as disclosed and explained during registration, we do charge a monthly fee after the 4-Week Trial Period, which ended on your account on 4/22/23.  We show that you cancelled your account on 4/25/23.
We do consider the fee in question to be valid.  Unfortunately, Stamps.com does not issue a refund for overdraft fees, as stated in our Terms and Conditions.  However, in many cases, when a vendor refunds for a purchase or service fee, as we have done, an issuing bank or credit card company will reverse the overdraft fees they have charged.  However, we cannot vouch for the actions taken by a separate corporate entity.
Were sorry to hear that you havent been using the Stamps.com features and services available to you with your account.  The monthly service fee is a flat rate fee that provides access to your account. The fee is not based on usage or activity.
We never charge people without their full agreement and awareness during our online registration process.  Our service fee is not based on usage or activity.  The monthly subscription service fee that Stamps.com charges is for access of the Stamps.com software, which allows customers to print postage from the comfort of their home or small office using just a PC and a printer.  Our service is a monthly subscription service so its not based on usage of the software, but rather on having access to using it.

Stamps.com accounts cannot be created without customers indicating that theyve read the terms and conditions. During registration for a Stamps.com account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products.

The fee we charge gives you access to services of the *********** and the license to print official U.S. postage. Its a flat fee that is not determined by how much postage you print.  Stamps.com is a vendor licensed by the ****,and all paid postage goes directly to the ***********. In order to offer our standard service, we do charge a monthly subscription fee.

While the **** offers a free online service called ************* Stamps.coms fees pay for features not offered on-line by the ****.  These include the ability to print shipping labels for mail classes other than Priority or Priority Express Mail, such as First Class Mail and Parcel Select (which will save you money), the ability to keep track of everything you send via our detailed reporting features, the Hidden ******* feature, discounted package insurance, integration with major software titles including Outlook and QuickBooks, the ability to import orders from online stores like **** and Amazon.com, Mail merge, and batch printing.

During registration for a Stamps.com account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products.  We believe the monthly fee provides a good value for customers who need to print not only just Priority and Priority Express Mail shipping labels, but also Shipping Labels for other classes (we support ****************** Mail, and Parcel Select Labels), NetStamps, and postage printed directly on envelopes.  We do have a wide variety of customers over a million customers- who enjoy the experience of not having to rely on expensive postage meters and who require more functionality and features than what other PC ******* services currently offer.

On our main page at www.stamps.com, we explain our fees under the section "Here's how it works..."  During the registration process we do make sure that our customers are aware of the monthly service fee in that we have it detailed on the webpage titled Why do you need my credit card information?

On 4/15/20 during the pandemic, I opened a stamps.com account. There were shut-downs so we were concerned about paying our bills on time and staying safe. We weren't aware that after the 4 week trial period our credit card account would be charged each month. Nowhere did we see a dollar monthly service fee amount, nor did we agree to that in writing. Had we known this, we never would have agreed to opening an account, not to mention paying the fees. This information was clearly and intentionally hidden to the average consumer. Unbeknownst to **, we were being charged at least $17.99 per month. Apparently this fee recently increased to $19.99. Both fees also include 6% sales tax. None of this was communicated to **, nor were we given advance notice our trial period ended and we'd be receiving monthly charges; we just now noticed it on our monthly credit card bill. I immediately called customer service at ********************** today ********* and was told they were sorry and all they can do is refund ** a pro-rated amount for this month ($13.99). We received an email confirming same, although the refund hasn't yet been issued to our credit card bill. They also told ** due to our troubles they could refund ** $40.26 which allegedly represented two months' service fees. The service representative identified herself as "****" and told ** she couldn't give ** the ******************* team member's name who she was typing questions to regarding our issues. We have been paying service fees unknowingly for over 35 months, with varying monthly fees (to our knowledge) ranging from $17.99 to $19.99 per month plus 6% sales tax which amounts to in excess of $700! To this date, I have never been provided with any written documentation showing I authorized these charges. This is a huge financial hardship for our family and we would greatly appreciate help with resolving it, as well as helping prevent it from happening to other unknowing individuals. Thank you. I recently discovered that I was charged monthly by stamps.com for an account I did not realize I had. I tried to stop the account several times but I could not even access it. I called my credit card to report fraud but they said it was a real business. I finally received an email from stamps.com notifying me of a rate increase. This was the only email I ever received from this company. I used it to try to log into my account (which I could not as my account was never activated) and then to call them. I explained that I never set this up and that I was charged over $600 in over three years for a service I never authorized or received a benefit from. The customer service rep agreed with me. Their Legal team would not reimburse me for this fake service and offered me $37 in compensation. They also finally cancelled my account. Their actions should be stopped so no one else becomes a victim like I did.

I am writing to file a complaint against Stamps.com for their unethical billing practices. I dont remember to set up any subscription with them , but Stamps.com has continued to attempt to charge me for subscription fees. I had an account a couple years ago but have closed that account long ago. This is why their attempts at charging me have failed, they have old bank information from a past account. I request that they cancel my subscription and stop attempting to charge my account.

A few months ago I needed to order free shipping boxes, for ***** They never mentioned I was signing up for a subscription that would be taking a monthly service fee of $21.73. They charged my card twice before I caught it! When I called them, they were unable to tell me what service they were providing to me. They told me the charges were not reversible. It was not until I filed a fraud report with my bank, that they finally agreed to return my money. It is very scary to realize that your account can be charged without your permission. It makes me more aware of what websites I visit. It also makes me angry. My bank required that I cancel my card and this caused a great deal of inconveniences. Hello BBB,4-20-23 Stamps.com has un-knowingly to me been charging me $17.99 a month recurring fee for the past 2 months. This is a hidden fee and not disclosed clearly. This is some sort of a scam. I called customer service to ask for a refund for the 2 months I was charged $17.99 (March 2023 and April 2023) but was denied. I never needed nor used their services. Thanks for your time!

I was completely unaware of the fact that I would be billed monthly for the privilege of using their site whether I actually did so or not. I had 2 accounts (jdw78275 and josh78275) which I created because their password reset process is not very usable and was billed $19.99 for each account, for a total of $39.98, even though I never used their services. This fee was explained nowhere in the documentation when I signed up for my accounts. This is a very deceptive practice and I was denied a refund despite explaining this to them. Unfortunately, I have no supporting documentation as the accounts were closed as soon as I learned I had been billed. However, these records are fully in their possession already. I would very much like them to contact me and arrange for these charges to be reversed.

BBB is unable to locate the business.
I never intentionally subscribed to stamps.com. I bought postage for a single package sometime last year, and apparently stamps.com signed me up for a monthly subscription - which I have never used. While reviewing my budget this week to make sure I had enough money to pay my taxes, I saw a payment to stamps.com for $22.01 on 4/6. My bank shows "recent charges" for this subcription as $19.81 per month for **** Feb, and March of this year - but I can't see charges earlier than this year, and I suspect I've been charged for longer than that. The slight increase from $19.81 to $22.01 must indicate that they raised rated in addition to sneakily getting me to subscribe for a service I don't use. Normally, I would just cancel this subscription immediately - but stamps.com doesn't make it that easy. You can only call customer service during normal business hours. I can't log in to my account because I forgot my password, and when I click "forgot password" it made me answer security questions just so I could receive an email. After I answered them (there's no alternative if you can't remember the answers), it said a temporary password had been sent to my email account. That email never arrived. I tried four times, checked my spam folder, searched my inbox - no email was sent. Because I didn't receive the email, I can't log into my account and cancel my subscription - and I can't call because they're closed, so I have to remember to try again tomorrow. This is a tactic that companies use to discourage and delay you from your intention to cancel so they can continue to charge you. The fact that I can't cancel this subscription right away is not accidental, it is by design. It can be, and should be, easier to cancel a subscription I never signed up for. Any company that ropes you into a subscription without your full knowledge and then makes it this difficult to cancel is doing shady business. I feel scammed and manipulated as a consumer.

I looked at Stamps.com last year and immediately canceled my account after seeing that I would be charged a fee to use this site. In November 2022 I found out my cancelation was not honored as I had been charged $17.99 a month for 3 months. So, I went into their website and attempted to login. I was unable to use my password this time which I found very strange as I always only use one password for all of my accounts/subscriptions. So I went through the steps and got a temporary password from stamps.com. After logging in using the temp password in Nov, I submitted a cancelation for my "account" once again. Today is April 15th 2023 and not more than 10 minutes ago I looked at my checking account app. and what do I see, another pending charge for now $19.99 from Stamps.com I just searched Stamps.com in my banking app. search bar and I see that I have been being billed continuously from this company since Sept 2022 This is ludicrous. This company must acknowledge when someone cancels a subscription and stop billing immediately! I have never used any service from this website/business. I only ever looked at their website initially to see if they could save me money on shipping costs. Now when I try to log back in to Cancel my account again, I am not able to login. I'm not going through the temporary password process again as I've already submitted cancelation requests twice and neither were honored. I believe I am due full refund in the amount of $145.92 for 7 unauthorized charges in the amount of $17.99 each, plus the current $19.99 charge. Please help me resolve this situation immediately. Thank you

We show that a Stamps.com account was fully activated and established on 8/15/22.  We show that a Welcome Email confirming activation had been sent to you on that day.  We hear your concerns and we always aim to fully disclose our fees before any account can be created.  We do not advertise or offer a free or pay-as-you-go service, and as disclosed and explained during registration, we do charge a monthly fee after the 4-Week Trial Period, which ended on your account on 9/13/22.  We do not show that we had received a cancellation request from you.  We do offer phone, email, and online cancellation options.

The monthly service fee is a flat rate fee that provides access to your account. The fee is not based on usage or activity.

If we can help further, please let us know.
    Best Regards,

I have been waiting on a refund for my closed account since January 30th, 2023. On April 13th I wrote asking where my refund is, I am told an error was made, a check was never sent and now a refund for my account balance will be applied to my credit card in 4-6 weeks. I advised my card they have is an old card. I was advised to update my card on their website but I am unable to do so and I was told to call. I called today and spoke to Trinity. I gave her my new card number, she said it could not process. She advised me she would ask for a check to me sent to me, the address on file is an old address, when I told her my new address and asked for my company name to be on the address she told me that was a problem. I asked to speak to a supervisor and am still waiting 25 minutes later. Now she has advised the refund will be sent to the old card on file and nothing more can be done. This is a SCAM. Why is Stamps.com making it so difficult to get a refund for my account balance? It is more than clear Stamps.com is not refunding customers for their balances on closed accounts. Why is **** endorsing this company and what is the BBB able to do about this? The company has numerous complaints against it. I would like to know what BBB is doing to hold this company accountable.

    Dear *****,
Thank you for your inquiry. Your confirmation number is: 230421-003044.

Please allow 3-5 business days for this credit to be applied to your account.  The refund details are:
    *Amount $40.91
    *Card ending in 5342

We apologize for your experience and appreciate your feedback regarding the refund process.  Rest assured that we have escalated your feedback and appreciate you sharing your concerns about this.   If your credit card account is closed, you may request that your bank transfer the refund we have already processed from your closed credit card/bank account to a reopened one, or to issue the refund in check form.
Rest assured we refund our customers for balances on closed accounts in accordance with our procedures.  Postage funds are purchased from the ***** not Stamps.com.
