1 starLeft one star because I had to. My engine blew up on the side of the road in my 2013 Hyundai ********. I had all of my kids in the car with me at 10pm when my engine blew on the side of the highway. Car had to be left as it wouldnt turn back on after that. 3 days later I had it towed at my expense, and the shop told me the engine failed and needed to be replaced. Over $8,000 later, I learned that there had been a recall regarding the engine itself for my exact vehicle. So it wouldve been replaced if I had known about it before it blew. I went through the reimbursement process which had taken months and tons of hoops to jump through. I had even stated Id settle for just the cost of the engine itself to get it to move even faster. $4000 was better than 0. After providing every documentation they asked for and it getting to the point where they release the funds, the transaction was cancelled as they had proof that I was notified of the recall. I was the second owner of the vehicle & had no prior knowledge of said recall. Hyundai refuses to give me the proof of my said notification and/or reimburse me for the money I spent. Refuses to even speak to me regarding the matter saying the matter is closed on their end. Absolutely horrific customer service. A ****************************. Disgusting.Review fromJoseph C

1 starWe leased a new Hyundai Ionic 5 and paid upfront for the two lease. Two weeks later, the car alerted with a ****************** System failure. Foundations closed their dealership (we were not told this was happening at the time we leased the car) and sent us to the Hyundai dealership in ********* for repairs and service (none of this is their fault...they have been incredibly helpful.) They've had our car for just under a month and we keep getting the same run around from Hyundai corporate every week. "We'll call you back in two days..." then they don't. We had no car for the first two weeks, but thankfully we now finally have a (very smoky) loaner car. No one has offered to extend our lease (as the clock ticks away without our leased vehicle.) No one is contacting us with our options. We paid for a two year lease on a car that we cannot use and Hyundai is making no effort to make it right. We are no closer to a resolution today than we were over three weeks ago. Hoping others have a better experience, but thought I should put it out there for anyone thinking of purchasing an EV from Hyundai.Review fromBennett H

1 starPurchased a 2023 Ioniq 5 from them with 12k miles. Broke down within 100 miles of driving. Been at the dealer ever since. Was told it needs a new EV batter, but of course they are unable to give me a timeline. Because of course, its unreasonable to expect a business to have awareness of its own timelines. Its been at the dealership for two months so far. Still no idea when the part will even ship.Awful experience.Review fromManuel B

1 starAs a 3rd time customer I am very displeased with the lack of interest/response made from Hyundai ******************* I had my vehicle totaled and the team at Hyundai, the so-called escalation team has moved so slowly that I honestly believe 'ice bergs move quicker'. I have tried to resolve the issue to the point of shear exhaustion just to get an answer regarding my over payment. First I was told yes I would get back my over payment, then later that was revoked then again another agent said we would refund the over payment. Now I am being advised that a higher corporate escalation member would have to evaluate the issue, what a turn of events and what hypocrisy. As a re-purchaser of another Hyundai product, (***** USD) I will absolutely not be a returning customer AGAIN. ********************** also promised a incentive to buy this new vehicle which interesting never happened, they must have got some amnesia at the customer service center, as Daize the last person I spoke with promised a resolution and an adjustment on my next vehicle. Oh but wait, we can help you only before the purchase. I needed a car asap and waited for the big decision one week afterwards. What was I supposed to do take a bicycle to work? So I purchased the new car and at the dealer they said that if Hyudai made a promise they are usually very good at that, however I won't hold my breath again, full-stop. Thanks Hyundai for making me whole.Review fromKaleb A

1 starI purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in December of 2023, the Tucson began having issues with the forward collision and adaptive cruise options causing random braking and safety issues while driving. It was brought to the local dealers attention in November of 2024 but I was unable to drop off due to the lack of loaner options and it being my only source of transportation. After multiple attempts I was eventually able to drop off on January 4th 2025. It has been at the dealer since with no resolution for the issue, I have attempted to resolve the issue with Hyundai directly and they told me there was nothing they could do except continue to look into the problem. I attempted to pursue lemon law after the first 30 days being in the shop without a resolution and they told me it didn’t qualify. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle alone and especially not with my kids in the car. I expect a better resolution from such an “acclaimed” company rather than sit tight until we figure it out considering we are now >60 days out. Oh and not to leave out the vehicle was damaged after I dropped it off and now has to go to a body shop to get repaired by the dealer. Very disappointed in Hyundai and I will never own another.Review fromAmanda B

1 starI am the second owner to a new to me 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, I didnt even make it to my first oil change before my oil light came on. Found out there are extensive complaints regarding oil consumption issues so I went ahead and started the oil consumption test where it was confirmed the vehicle was consuming more oil than it should with no leaks detected. I was then told I would have to pay 1k for a combustion cleaning before Hyundai would further look into my claim. I should not have to pay when this is a well known issue with Hyundai vehicles. DO NOT BUY A HYUNDAI! **************** couldnt care less and even speaking with a manager she pretty much said too bad, youre out of luck. They wont even reimburse you if you choose to look further into it. It is not worth the hassle, save your money and look into other brands of vehicles because Hyundai is the worst!Review fromUnhappy B

1 starI would NEVER buy a Hyundai again. My husband and I purchased a 2020 Pallisade and absolutely love the vehicle. However, it has been very EXPENSIVE. For a vehicle with an alleged excellent warranty, we have spent over $5300 on it. Be very careful about which dealership you chose for service. Also, be aware that there are not many dealerships. When we purchased the car, we had a dealership about 10 minutes away. They performed the maintenance without issue. Everything was very smooth and routine. After we moved, the closest dealership is 30 minutes away as long as you avoid rush hour traffic. Since then, here is always add on work “recommended” with routine maintenance, with the suggestion that the warranty will be voided if you don’t do the maintenance. My husband and I have purchased many new cars with warranties and we have never experienced such terrible coverage.
Do NOT use the Antwerpen in Columbia MD service department. Please look up the reviews I have left for them for details.Review fromLouis V

1 starReview pertaining to 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan (Ultimate Package), supposed flag ship at the time. My car has 30,000 miles on it and I cant drive it at this point due to a lack of power steering. I am the original owner and have babied this car. Hyundai issued a recall notice pertaining to the vehicle's starter. The car was serviced by ******* Hyundai (******, **). They installed this large electrical component on the fuse box under the hood. They claim they had to remove my rear tires as part of the recall and subsequently broke a lug nut which they charged me to replace. They also told me that the car had a check engine light for a sensor that I approved them to repair. I picked up the car after the recall work and the check engine light was illuminated. They wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee to check the car (didn't even leave the dealership). I drove the car home and when I went to drive the car the next day, I had no power steering. Hyundai does not acknowledge that their recall work caused the problem along with multiple engine scan code faults. Do NOT buy Hyundai products. They pretend to stand by their products but in reality they do not. Will have to pay thousands to fix this car just to get rid of it. Hyundai, Genesis and Kia are not quality products when they can't last 30,000 miles but I'm guessing 10 year/100,000 miles doesn't matter since most people probably get rid of them after a few years. I will never purchase a Hyundai product again and will advise family / friends to steer clear of this inferior company and their products.
