1 starI became a member of LA Fitness ******* located at ****************************************************** After giving birth in May 2021, specifically because of their option to add the **** KLUB membership & have child care available at ALL of their locations. This location in particular being so close to my ********* daily routes as well as the location they have in ******************* ************************************************** which happens to be in the same shopping plaza as my other childs school, who I drop off daily by 9am. I'm SO ANGRY to find out today 8/12/2022 upon arriving at the gym, that there will be no more child care available to me! I guess they forgot members PAY monthly for this service to be provided at ALL locations! I called the corporate office immediately to unfortunately find out that the reason for this change is because LA Fitness wants to make better use of those spaces... Seriously? Better use? Childcare for parents to focus on their health, get in shape, lose post partum weight, relieve stress, etc... Not everyone has a babysitter at home! That's why this service is SO IMPORTANT TO MANY!Now they want to just leave 1 gym location with child care (*********************** location to be exact) Which is NOT in my morning or evening routine! Thanks for the horrible inconvenience LA FITNESS! For the past year I've had a great experience as a full time mom, being able to prioritize my fitness as well by having these two specific locations with a great trusting childcare staff available to me, considering the short childcare window of only 8am-11am or 5pm-8pm ( they already cut them down from 8am-12pm & 5pm-9pm which was the 1st inconvenience! *********** theres no evening childcare; so it limits parents to attend the gym upon their availability... And now the main concern is childcare safety.... If all the members who use childcare have to go solely to 1 location available this means over crowding of babies, kids, teens all in one room! How is this smart or fair to anyone???Review fromJoe R

2 starsBeware LA Fitness's scammy membership practices. I signed up with a promotional offer advertising "first month free" expecting to try it out for a month before I have to pay...but they want you to pay for 2 months up front, one of which is the "free" month. When you want to cancel, that's when you get the extra month "free" -- after you've already decided you don't want a membership anymore. So the offer amounts to nothing. Sound like a scam?Oh, and when you do decide to call it quits, there is no way to cancel online. You can't even cancel over the phone. You have to physically visit a gym and talk to a salesperson to cancel in person (while they try to upsell you), or print out a form and mail it to "corporate." What century is this, people? Consider yourself warned.Review fromGissell w

1 starToday Tues ,Aug 9 2021 at 5:30pm we went to the gym since the last time was in May of this year and I didn't have my gym card or I didn't download it to my phone because I didn't have time, but when I entered the gym there was a group of people and nobody went to see what I scanned my membership but it was old one i scan and I kept walking in the middle of the gym this Men who works yelled at Us with my husband he was my Guess as my Membership and told us in a bad way to come back to hem and that I am not a member, we told him why he didn't tell us when we scanned my card before we walking in? and shout Us at from to everyone to see my husband told him that those are not manners to shout on us and He said that we do not have to tell him his job, we call the manager these guy said that she was in the bathroom and we were very upset about the deal and also because I paid without going to the gym since April ,it's insulting the manager went to the bathroom after 5 minutes to look for us as we were criminals ,place at the gym at *********************************************************************** they were very aggressive with ** and the manager so Rude Until they saw on the computer that they were wrong, my question is how a member of staff in this company may not have the nerve to treat us badly and not be aware that he scans my card and does not do his job, then he said sorry but it is not okay that he is serious company have this kind of workers putting their names to the ground.the employer and the manager both are Rude!Review fromKayla A

1 starI regret signing up with LA Fitness. They make it unnecessarily hard to cancel your agreement!! I signed up for a month to month membership. They make you jump through so many hoops just to cancel. I logged onto my LA Fitness portal and went to the cancellation tab. It says to print a PDF form and to mail to the address provided on the form. NOWHERE on the Cancellation tab does it mention needing to be sent via certified mail. NOWHERE on the Cancellation Form provided by LA Fitness does it mention needed to be sent via certified mail! I sent in via regular mail and emailed customer support after I noticed I was charged the annual fee and didn't receive a cancellation confirmation. I'm advised to wait a couple weeks and follow up if I don't see a cancellation confirmation come through. I follow up about 2 weeks later and I'm told I need to send via certified mail OR visit a club between 9-5 to cancel. Why is this the first time I'm told about the certified mail requirement AND why isn't the option to cancel in person listed on the online portal? I went into a club between M-F 9-5 and was told I would receive a confirmation of cancellation from a Operations Manager in a few days. They didn't have me sign any forms so WHY do I have to go in person to cancel when this could obviously be done online? WHY make me drive in somewhere if it's not cancelled right on the spot and will be done via email? WHY must the in-person cancellation be done during certain hours if it's not completed right then and there? I find this to be extremely shady and will NEVER be returning and will make sure none of my friends or family do! Take your business elsewhere!Review frommarie p

1 starTerrible business. Like most others, I got roped in to the personal training scam. The first few training sessions were decent but then the trainer wouldn't arrive for the scheduled time and one of the other employees would have to cover them. The sessions weren't even as advertised at all and honestly pretty basic and useless. Now I don't even want to go to the gym normally anymore. I lost the motivation for it after this whole dilemma. I wish it wasn't so hard to get out of the stupid contract and I also wish I could get refunded. I will definitely tell anyone I know to avoid them all together!Review fromDedriq T

1 starNice facilities and plenty locations. But they have gone downhill since covid. Of the 2 in ****, ** they have several broken universal and cadio machines. But that's not even what I'm complaining about. After Covid I went to unfreeze my account and add a guest. They told me that would be an additional $45/mo to add a guest to my $39.99 monthly fee. When I said no to that they told me if I sign up for a new account I could get 2 guests and pay $49.99/mo total. They signed me up and ran my card extra times causing it to decline. I went to ********* location to rectifying the situation they told me never to go to the other LA Fitness clubs in the area and to only trust them. I continued to have billing issues. Today they called my phone 10 times back to back and whn I told them I would resolve the issues in person they said no and to only do it by phone. When I refused they sent 20 emails within 2 minutes to my work email. When I called corporate they didn't accept any blame for setting me up wrong calling me multiple times or emailing me they said it was a glitch or company policy. The old account was never deactivated and they tried to keep charge for both memberships. They offered no solutions and blamed my bank for everything. Their customer service and business practices are trash. If there were another gym with a pool and sauna in your area choose them instead. LA Fitness is money hungry and extremely unprofessional.Review fromRyan D

1 starUnethical and ******************************** *********. ********, ** Location Our Scenario: They took advantage of my autistic brother and pressured him into signing up for personal training sessions amounting to almost $3000. When our family found out, we immediately tried contacting their Personal Training (PT) contact, ********* My brother came in one morning and was told that he had to pay half the amount minimum. Upon acquiring his contract, it stated he could cancel during the first 45 days with no charges, so we set a 12:30pm appointment the next day. On arrival, she tells us she cannot make it due to other "mandatory meetings." She and other staff were aware we wanted to cancel our membership and PT. She then casually told us that she has an open window between 5pm to 5:30pm, and that we should come back. What is the point of booking an appointment just to be told to come several hours later? Unethical: It is unethical that they pressured my autistic brother and it worries me that he probably isn't the only one the have taken advantage of. He demonstrates clear traits - they knew what they were doing. I tried to assist my brother since he cannot communicate efficiently by going in-person and by speaking on the phone with ********* She insisted that she DID NOT want to talk with me.Difficult and Abusive Cancellation Process: They make it very very difficult to cancel our membership and ************************** We were not allowed to cancel on the phone, and online resources did not provide any clear process. They enforce in-person cancellations with specified staff. Booking an appointment was siloed to the Personal Training team, which meant the front desk would not confirm any appointment time. Reaching out to our Personal Training contact, ********* was very difficult as she was "out" or "booked" several hours of the day. It took numerous attempts to finally cancel.Review fromLivianu P

1 starI stopped using the LA fitness awhile ago so i decided to cancel my membership.21-Jul-22, i stopped to LA Fitness ***** ** to cancel my membership. i was told to come next day.22-Jul-22, i stopped again and this time i was able to speak with some representative. She told my membership will be canceled and i should received a confirmation email.29-Jul-22 I didn't received any cancelation email so i called them back. I was told, she forgot to send it to the manager but she will do it and I do not need to come in again to speak with a representative or managers. the account is already flag for cancelation.31-Jul-31 i called ****, **, LA fitness to check if my account was closed. I was transferred from one to another person (which refused to provide her name or employee number) to find out that the account is not canceled and I need to go back again Mon-Fri to speak with cancelation manager. Easy to get in, no way to get out. This is not the way how the business should operate, lie after lie.Review fromJustin W

1 starMy name is ******, and I am a disabled Army veteran. I signed up for a gym membership and personal training. A couple weeks after signing up, I was hospitalized due to some medical issues and diagnosed with a condition that wouldn't allow me to workout for the foreseeable future. Upon discharge from the hospital, I contacted LA Fitness corporate office and emailed them a doctor's note saying I couldn't work out until my diagnosis cleared. They rejected this note as it wasn't specific enough. LA Fitness told me it needed to say at least 6 months that I couldn't workout. I got another note that specifically said no working out for 6 months, but again they rejected it. This time, they told me it had to say I couldn't work out indefinitely. Currently in the waiting process for receiving my third note from the doctor. DO NOT sign up for personal training contracts at this gym. If you ever need to get out of it for whatever reason, they will s**** with you and do everything they can to keep you under contract. Also, they absolutely refused to refund me for the month I was unable to use. LA Fitness does not care about their customers, only lining their pockets. They treated my medical issues like a joke. The personal trainer I had at my gym tried telling me I should just keep coming to the gym and doing light workouts, completely disregarding my doctor's ******* I explained to him my situation over text message and he completely ignored me; no response whatsoever. The trainers also do not care about your well being. DO NOT use this gym. Awful business.Review fromAshley H

1 starI have paid on time for 6 months with LA fitness for personal training and want to use it and now they are telling me I cannot. I have provided documentations on why I could not and now I spent over **** and have not used one session. All I want is to be able to use what I paid for and want access to my account.
