We decided to go solar in Oct 2023 and had Panels installed early November and were told it would take a few weeks to get them up and running. Panels are installed but have yet to get connected to our city grid. The city says there is no paperwork for permits. I've contacted the installer with minimal support. He says they will be here to inspect them but they never show up. Contacted Enfin and they are still charging me interest on panel that aren't operational. I've seen many complaints on here for the same problem. I would like the panels connected or they can come remove them so I can go with another company that stands by their product and service. I've been told form their complaint line that someone would contact me and give me an update on my case. (from April). Still waiting..

Enfin Corp and my solar installer jointly engaged in fraudulent practices by providing a solar loan for an 11.2 KWH system at a cost of $72,800. Other service providers offer the same 11.2 KWH system for only $15,000. The installer deceived me into signing a deal for $72,800 and applied for the solar loan with Enfin. Although the installer promised a cash back of $31,500 within 2 months after installation, it took 6 months to receive the payment. Meanwhile, Enfin continued accruing interest on the $72,800 loan, resulting in $2,500 in interest over 6 months. Despite raising a complaint and requesting payment deferment, Enfin still charged daily interest. Ive paid $31,500 (the cash back from the installer) and an additional $20,000. Now, Im asking Enfin to waive the accumulated interest of $2,500, with the remaining $21,300 to be paid on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, Enfin has not responded or honored my request, despite the clear financial fraud.

    Hi BBB Team,

Thank you for helping in resolving the issue I have with Enfin Corp.

As per the response from Enfin, issue is not resolved yet. However, they mentioned that they have received my complaint from BBB and they started investigation. Kindly requesting you to follow up with Enfin until the resolution is provided from them.

    Regards,

Enfin has reviewed the complaint and it appears the customer was contacted by the installer and the tax credit leading to the complaint was explained and the customer was satisfied with the explanation.  The proposal by the customer with regards to repayment has been sent to our Credit Risk area for consideration.

    Thanks

    Customer Answer

    Hello,

I am dissatisfied with the response provided by the business. My issue is not related to tax credits; rather, it concerns the interest charges applied to my account during the forbearance period. Between May 3, 2024, and June 6, 2024, I made payments totaling $51,500. I am requesting the waiver of the $2,500 in interest that accrued prior to May 3, 2024. I agree to settle the outstanding balance through monthly installments, which will include the interest accruing from May 4, 2024, onwards.

    Regards,

    ******.

In Sept 29 2023 ******************* contracted by Enfin came to install solar panels on my home. The job was completed. It was informed to me that in 3 months someone would come to turn on the solar panels once permission was granted from the city of ******. That would be in December of 2023. That same month Enfin began asking payment for the solar payments. At the time my solar panels were not turned on. Enfin requested to have automatic payments for the solar panels which I refused since I was not receiving the service. At this time I asked why the solar panels were not turned on and Enfin informed me that Solgen was out of business or suspended. Enfin informed me that another contractor would replace Solgen. Enfin could only suspend my payment for 3 months to have my payment waived however my current balance would be increasing to cover those 3 months Every time I call the customer service to get an update about my case I am asked to set up automatic payment when I am not receiving my solar panels service. At this time I am paying my electric bill as well as solar panels. Doubling my expense It has been 7 months since the solar panels have been installed and this issue has not been resolved.I am willing to have a different contractor come finish the job. The issue is the time frame in which Enfin is taking to find another contractor and the lack of communication on their end. Everyone installs solar panels to have their living cost reduced and with this situation I am doubling my expense.

I dont want to close this case against Enfin,  due to the irregular of the services I went to the City of ****** to ask if there any inspection pending regarding the solar panels in my address and they said there is not any information regarding any company worked installing solar panels, at this point I am not sure if there were working legally since there is not any record of that company in the city of *******

I was victimized by a solar company named Encore Solar based out of **** mid December of 2023. I was sold a solar system, promised all of these things, and now I am living a nightmare. Panels were installed on my house early January of 2024, and a week later Encore went out of business leaving the job unfinished. Now Enfin is harassing me to pay my loan while the job is still unfinished. They tell us victims that we can have a postponement. I just found out 6/17/24 that interest accumulates even though payments are postponed. I now have an additional $700 of insterest on top of the $32,000 I owe them for the panels. They are repeatedly asking me for payments and telling me my system will be on within 1-2 weeks. Here we are 6 months later still asking for payments while nothing is happening to my solar system. I feel Enfin is responsible for entrusting a solar company to fulfill the duties they promised. The icing on the cake however, whoever installed the panels on my house that Enfin trusted, didnt even pull a permit for the electric. Yes, DID NOT. I called the city of **********, ** and they informed me. This is who Enfin is hiring With that being said, massive electric components have been installed on my house without any permit or inspection. In my contract it states that they must provide all necessary permissions and approvals. They have not fulfilled theyre side of the contract, but yet is still harassing me and racking up interest at the same time. I am a VICTIM and this big corporation is taking advantage of us. Do I send them the bill if my house ***** down due to their negligence? Is this a trusted company? A company who gets away with breaching contracts? A company who will hire anyone to install panels illegally on a house? I am SCARED! They have NOT tried to reach out to resolve any problems; leaving me the gullable customer out to fend for himself. Please help me! I just want these panels off my house to get rid of the nightmare.

    Good Evening,

Enfin has received your complaint and is working to investigate and reach resolution concerning this matter.

    Thanks

    Customer Answer

    Date: 06/29/2024

I am not getting the warranty I paid for. I have panels illegally on my house (didnt pull all permits). Nothing has been inspected. My belief and opinion, Enfin knew Encore Solar was going out of business but still allowed them to conduct business not up to standards, aka scamming and illegally installing equipment. Enfin is breaching the contract I signed, but yet is still asking for payments when nothing works on my house. No contact has been made to me to resolve anything.  Shady things going on. Corporate crooks at its finest.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/01/2024

Enfin is currently still working to resolve or remediate the customers concern at this time.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 07/01/2024

Its a typical response Ive been hearing for 7 months now. Enfin does not have the reins on this situation. They have derailed off the track and are expecting good humans to recoup their loss. They are losing control of their business. Worst experience Ive ever had with a business. No lie. Zero integrity entirely.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/24/2024

    Dear *******,

Thank you for reaching out again. We apologize your experience has not been ideal. We take all feedback seriously and appreciate you sharing this new concern.
Earlier attempts to contact were unsuccessful. Our records indicate that on or about July 17, 2024, Enfin provided information related to the remediation plans, which was noted to be agreeable.

    Sincerely,
    EnFin Corp.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 07/26/2024

As far as any remediation or help, I am just getting told the same thing time after time. My perception of a solution differs from Enfins perception. A solution is the answer to a problem. I have not received any constructive answer to my problem other than were still looking for a new solar company.

I cannot pay a loan and a power bill. 7 months now and still looking for a new solar company to handle my case? I just want help to insure my credit score doesnt get ruined. I have not gotten help other than 1 month deferments. It takes 2-3 weeks just to get approval of a postponement, and then its right back to filling out another one. In addition, my loan goes up due to interest.

One of the customer service reps accidentally slipped up and said the Encore Solar scandal. Its recorded. They know its a scandal. Im just a victim and will remain feeling as one until I get answers.  A real answer and not one that just beats around the ****.

    Thank you for your time

2 men came to my house and told me I qualified for free solar panels through a government assistance program that helps citizens. I gave them my information and next thing I know, they said I owe them nearly ****** dollars. This has gone on my credit and I never agreed to paying this amount nor was I aware, as they had told me that the solar panels would be free of charge.

In November 2023, I signed to have a solar system put in by Encor. Encor went out of business before doing the full install and Enfin is holding us to the payment of $57,000 even though we have no working system. If you buy a car and set up financing, you get the car. I did not get a solar system!! I have paperweight panels on my roof doing nothing. They are letting us defer payments. BUT interest is still accruing daily and now its up to $58,000+ going up every single day. I leave messages and NO ONE ever calls me back, no one responds. I put in complaints and no one responds. They tell me they have the right to find a new installer, regardless of the fact the contract says Encor is the installer. No where in the contract does it say that they can replace the installer at their discretion. This is bullying and not fair. It was lies upon lies from the moment Encor walked through my door and I just want this nightmare to go away. I cant afford this, this was not what I was told. Enfin claims they will find me an installer but also says that I am going to have a large electric bill too. I was promised my battery was going to be large enough that I wouldnt have an electric bill. So is Enfin giving me what I actually paid for or are they giving me something way lower quality than Im paying for? They cant or wont prove to me that they can deliver what I actually paid for. I cant afford this. It is not what I signed up for. My wife is getting another job just to try to pay for this. I DONT EVEN HAVE A SYSTEM. WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THIS NIGHTMARE GO AWAY? Why cant someone actually in charge of something at Enfin respond to me? This is extortion.

    Good Morning,

We have responded to ****************** complaint via **** complaint:

    "To whom it may concern,

My name is *********************** and Im the General Counsel at EnFin. We received your complaint regarding ********************* (CP-24-03546) and I wanted to provide an update. We understand Mr.****** frustration, as the company that sold and began installation of his solar system (Encor) closed its doors and failed to communicate any information to its customers. Encor began installation at Mr. ****** home and we (EnFin)have been actively working with other contractors to finish installation of Smiths system and get it turned on. As a show of commitment to ************** and in order to ensure hes satisfied, EnFin has committed to find a contractor to complete the work and to pay for it. We have been in communication with ************* and he is aware of our plans here. We will continue working to get this work done and will keep in communication with **************. Please let us know if you have further questions or information and we will keep this office updated on our progress."

In addition, ************** has indicated he does not want another contractor to work on his project.  ************** will be receiving a call in the next few days from Enfin to resolve this matter.  If ************** refuses to allow the work to be completed, the loan will still be due.

Encor Solar contracted Enfin to fund our solar installation project which was left incomplete. Encor went out of business leaving us with a partially installed system and a loan through Enfin. Per Enfin, the loan has been funded and they refuse to let us out of our contract or work with a local solar company I have spoken with and that stated they cold get us up and running in no time. I have provided this information to several of Enfin's customer service reps. I was told if I were to shave Cape ********** Systems come and complete the job, I would be liable for any additional charges. Over the last couple of months, Enfin has repeatedly told us they were working to find contractors to complete our install but and someone would be contacting me. I have asked for several supervisor callbacks and have yet to receive any. I want to know why tEnfin cant work with the installer I provided? They wont cancel our loan agreement or let us use a contractor that is ready to work with us so essentially, i feel like we're being held hostage by them.

Enfin received this complaint, and it was approved for remediation efforts with Enphase.  Enphase unsuccessfully attempted to contact the borrower two times at ************** on 05/29 and 05/30/24.  Please contact Enphase directly at ************** to move forward with completion of your system install. The most recent complaint is related to Enfin's alleged decision not to work with the vendor of the customer's choice.  ********************** did not deny the vendor; however, they are not on Enfin's approved list and if Enfin works with them, any damages or expenses incurred above and beyond the installation, will not be covered by Enfin.  Again, said installer requested by the customer is not an approved vendor of **********************'s.

We signed up for a solar cell system in November and financed through Enfin. We received the solar cells only in December 2023 and then found out the company just went out of business the end of january. We have no system, just dead weight on our roof and they are sending us a bill even though half the system is missing and its not connected. We were told this was a "bill swap" where the system would cover are whole electric bill. We did not sign up for a payment AND an entire electric bill. We cannot afford that. They said they would send us a copy of the contract but never did. We have called them repeatedly and all they say is they are looking for a third party installer and that we owe the money. They claim we can defer payments until we receive a system but they have daily interest that we have apparently been accruing even without a working system. We also never agreed to any 3rd party installer. We just want them to come take the dead weight off our roof and be done with this whole disaster. They already put this on our credit report and we have NO working system. This is theft of services.

    Business Response

    Date: 02/27/2024

    Good Morning,

Enfin is currently working with the clients affected by this installer to ensure the projects are brought to PTO.  Please be patient as Enfin works to resolve this issue.  At this point in time, there is not an option to cancel the loan.

    Thanks

    Customer Answer

    Date: 02/27/2024

How am I supposed to be patient when interest is accruing daily, payments are overdue and the information I am getting about having a 3rd party install my system contradicts the information on the system that I agreed to pay for? I am being told ** going to have an electric bill alongside my solar payment, but I ordered a battery large enough to cover my whole house and it was supposed to be a bill swap. Now I have two bills and I was only supposed to have one. So how is it okay that you are agreeing to give me a system less than what Im paying for and I just have to go along with it because you are bigger than me. That is not right or fair.

I am writing to report fraudulent activities conducted by Enfin in collaboration with ***********, which have led to severe financial and procedural discrepancies concerning the installation of solar panels at my residence.***********, acting under full financial authority granted by Enfin, aggressively pursued me to install solar panels, promising no upfront costs and an effective price of just $5,000. Despite my concerns regarding recent home loan commitments, Enfin sanctioned a $65,000 loan for the system, with a $34,000 rebate promised post-funding. The installation was completed without my consent on the loan contract, a clear violation of trust and legal procedure.Subsequently, a contract was hastily executed at my home by *********** agent ****** for "American Sun Solar" on December 6, 2023. Shortly after, I was informed of the need to cancel this contract due to a severed partnership, resulting in a new contract with "COREnerG," again conducted without proper authorization or transparency.Alarmingly, on January 8, 2024, I received a closing document from Enfin indicating the disbursement of the $65,000 loan to a previously unheard-of entity, "**************," without my agreement or signature on any contract with them. This action was taken despite the absence of necessary HOA and city approvals, showcasing a reckless disregard for legal requirements and my explicit wishes.Upon contacting Enfin to cancel the service due to dissatisfaction and the dubious practices of Solio Solar, I was informed that the payment could not be stopped and an investigation would be initiated. However, my attempts to engage *********** regarding the promised rebate have been met with complete silence. The crux of the issue lies in the unauthorized execution of contracts under varying company names, the improper disbursement of funds without necessary approvals, and the utter lack of response from Solio Solar. This situation raises serious questions about the legality and ethics of Enfin's operations and its associations.I urge a thorough investigation into these matters and demand immediate corrective actions to rectify the financial and procedural injustices inflicted upon me. Your prompt attention to this serious matter is crucial and greatly appreciated.

When Enfin originally received this complaint Enfin began looking into the complaint; however, attempts to reach the borrower on 05/14/20204 were unsuccessful due to the call being disconnected by the borrower during the introduction of Enfin personnel.  We recently received an additional BBB complaint indicating fraud.  Enfin is looking into this complaint at this time.
