I recently booked a reservation with Fox Car rental as their pricing was very good. We picked up our car at the ************* on the morning of November 3, 2024. Upon arriving we discovered a very large lineup as there was only 1 agent working. Another agent started her shift at 11 am and took me as I was next. I approached with my friend. She did not ask for an emergency contact number like the other agent did. She asked if we wanted a transponder for tolls and explained there was an extra charge. We declined the transponder. She asked if we wanted an additional driver but did not say anything of an additional charge so we added my friend. Had I been advised that there was an additional charge I would have declined. I submitted a dispute upon my return on November 11, 2024. I was told I would have an update in 72 hours. No one followed up. I had to call November 14, 2024 only to find out my claim was denied by the general manager. I emailed the general manager also and he hasnt responded. This was very dishonest, deceptive and wrong. I understand that I signed and should have been more attentive, BUT, I should have been informed. Please help me get this charged reversed. My rental agreement number is TPA-*****.Fox Rent A Car

I am sorry that there was some confusion on your charges. You would have had to sign a rental agreement as well as a summary of charges laying out all fees on the rental for you. I do show that both were signed and agreed upon at pick up. Should you have additional questions, please contact us at *********************************************************.Review fromDarren M

Fraud, Fraud, Fraud. Stay well clear of Fox Rental Cars at ****************I rented from Fox at *************** from Oct *****. At check-in, I was asked by their ***resentative called ****** whether I wanted to upgrade the mid-size SUV I'd rented through Expedia to a Jeep Wrangler, which I declined. Later, when signing the printed contract, ***** crossed the upgrade charge out and confirmed that I would not be charged anything extra on top of what I paid Expedia When I went to pick up the car downstairs, it was confusing as the *** *** in the garage offered me a Jeep Wrangler, to which I said no. He then offered me a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I said I had not reserved, but he said it was at no extra cost. As such, I took the car. However, when I returned the car, I was charged a $320 upgrade charge (including taxes), which I disputed. The location Manager offered to 'split the difference', but I said I wanted a full refund as I had declined the upgrade. As I had a flight to catch, he told me to call ****************/Billing to request a full refund, but when I did so multiple times, they said they had to get approval from the same local Manager, who declined. **************** also said the Manager would call me to discuss the claim, but he never did despite multiple follow-ups. When finally I called **************** to say I'd settle for the 50% refund I was originally offered, as I was tired of following up, I have not heard anything further from them or received a ************** on multiple websites that unfortunately I read after my experience frequently refer to dubious and misleading selling practices from Fox Rental Cars and often the same ***resentative ****** that I dealt with. I have never had this experience before despite renting many cars from more well known global companies over the years and I would NEVER rent from *** again. Their practices are fraudulent and customer service non-existent. Buyer beware !!!!!Fox Rent A Car

I reserved a car through ********* and declined liability insurance. Upon picking up the vehicle, I was never asked if I wanted to add it and it was never even brought up. When it came to signing the agent didn't let me read the digital pad and he scrolled it to the bottom just saying to sign for the car. I was then charged supplemental and rental liability which I unknowingly signed even though I declined it. They refuse to issue a refund for the liability charges.Fox Rent A Car

I arrived at ************** to pick Up my prepaid SUV. I waited 2 1/2 hours to get to the counter. They did not have a vehicle for me that I had already paid for. I was told to return tomorrow morning, which forced me to stay in a hotel for the night and rent a car that would barely hold my luggage. My luggage had frozen goods That were supposed to be transported immediately. They still made me pay for the one night rental of the vehicle, which was a Mercedes two-door sedan. these guys totally suck! Im trying to get my money reinstated, but I have to go through Priceline. They are unresponsive and unwilling to repay my money for the prepaid vehicle. Even the gentleman working at the counter, asked me to make a complaint because his company frequently rented out vehicles that they did not have. I will never use them again. I will never use Priceline again. They suck!Fox Rent A Car

The gentleman at ************** mentioned to me that his managers constantly rent cars that are not available. You need to do something about it.. whether they paid me my money back or not I had to fight for and wait for it.Review frommel z

Absolutely AWFUL customer service. Not reputable at all. They are thieves and commit fraud. Our flight was delayed and they closed their counter with no after hours number, website, contact at all. We were forced to rent from another company or be stranded over night at the airport. Their number was disconnected and their corporate number is not manned 24 hours a day. We had no one to call. We called the next day to explain and even sent proof of the delayed flight yet they marked us as a no show and refused to refund us. We never saw the car we rented yet were charged for a full week. My experience, like others was nightmare. I arrived outside the airport at 10:24PM and just missed first shuttle. I was walking out as it was pulling off. Like other reviewers stated it Fox shuttles are less frequent than other shuttles such as ***** I was picked up at 10:34 PM, arrived at rental car building 10:42 PM, 5 agents were working, roughly 10 people were ahead of me upon arrival, I reached the desk to check in at 11:01 , PM. This is where the nightmare began. During check in I provided my confirmation number to the *** ***resentative and they tried to make me pay for the rental car when it was already paid for in my reservation. I called Travelocity and they confirmed the car was p***aid and sent over an itemized list showing payment of the rental. The *** told me that he would notate my account and send it to the billing department but that he would still need to do a $150 hold. He said that once the car was returned the ****************** would review and decide if the hold could be removed because on his side he did not see that the reservation was p***aid. I agreed because *********** had already confirmed it was taken care of; I also decided to purchase the additional insurance coverage for $90 dollars. I finished check in at 11:41PM. The car was decently clean but smelled of throw up. It was not pleasant. The car return process was smooth, I just dropped the car off in the lot with the keys on the dash. When I got home I check my credit card statement and saw that I was charged $243.71 by fox which was the total cost of the rental + the additional insurance even though I already paid through Travelocity. So I have been charged TWICE for the car rental. I called Travelocity and they are unable to reach Fox via phone because no one is answering so they had to send an email in which they said could take 72 to receive a response. So here I am waiting in limbo. Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.Fox Rent A Car

Awful. I really can't say anything more without swearing. My $183 reservation turned into a $500 bill. Misrepresentations galore. Such as, you ask? "Oh...don't put gas in your car before you return it...we only charge $2.99/gallon." I returned the car with more than a half tank...and they charged me for a full tank. There are more stories, but bottom line? Don't let them talk you into ANYTHING! They're not agents behind the counter they are salespeople...misrepresenting. Oh, and my car smelled like smoke.Fox Rent A Car

I am sorry to read that you were not pleased with your vehicle and felt that the prepaid fuel option was not the best for you. All charges would be clearly laid out on the rental agreement to ensure that you understood them prior to pick up. We thank you for sharing your feedback.Review fromFelicia C

I booked a rental through a third party(Expedia). I requested for a midsize car. When I went up to get the desk the woman informed me that there were no midsize available, only a premium car, a ****** Camry. Because I had already booked with Expedia, cancelling would be a fee. *** charged me an upgrade fee of 45/day for the car. There are a couple of things that are wrong with that. One, a ****** Camry is not considered a premium car. Even on ***'s direct website it is not classified as a premium car. It is classified as a full size car. Also, I've been renting cars for years and I have never been charged an upgrade fee when the car that I have booked isn't available due to no fault on my own. *** should not have made the car available if it was not there. I ended up paying close to $500 for a Camry for 5 days. On their website a Camry is listed for a little over 200 for the exact days that I booked. I feel like I have been scammed. I am actively trying to fight the charges on ***** end. I will definitely never book with the company again.Fox Rent A Car

Update: The supposed owner of the San Antonio location responded to a review I wrote on ****** telling me that he agreed with what I said and to reach out via private message. He did not leave a way to send a private message. I can only contact a general email, which leads me back to square one. The contact from the generic email just tells me that she can submit an inquiry and never acknowledges that the supposed owner reached out to me. It's very frustrating and unprofessional. I copied the response from the supposed owner and placed it here. Fox Rent A Car ******************* (Owner)4 weeks ago I do agree and I apologize for the great inconvenience. You can privately message us with your reservation or rental agreement number, and we can try to assist you further. *** is not reputable. I had to pay $90 in admin fees on $16 of tolls. I expected to pay an admin fee but not $90 on $16 of tolls. They did not disclose the admin fee was $15 per toll fee.Fox Rent A Car

I am very sorry that you were unaware of how unpaid tolls would be billed. This information is disclosed not only on your rental agreement but also in the rental policies available during the booking process and online. Thank you for your feedback.Review fromMarina O

This company uses illegal and unethical sales tactics to sell you the insurance. I declined the insurance and then the attendant asked me "well how else are you going to cover the car" with a very rude and condescending attitude. She made me think i had no other choice and we really needed to get going so i reluctantly agreed to the insurance. We called customer service from the car about 20 minutes later and told them we dont need the insurance and want it canceled. they said they could not cancel it on the phone and we would have to go back to the office to cancel it, which we could not do because we had an appointment to get to. the customer service *** then said we could call the billing office on Monday (this happened on a Saturday). we called the billing office Monday and they also said they could not cancel it over the phone and said to speak with the office when we returned the car. we spoke to the manager when we returned the car and he said it was too late to cancel the insurance. i told him about the pressure tactics his employee used and he took no accountability and instead blamed me for signing the agreement AFTER i had already declined it. We later looked up the Insurance Code and it says "consumers should be made aware that their own car insurance may cover the rental" which the *** associate definitely did not do. Rather, she made it sound like using their insurance was the only option, so she broke the law selling us the insurance.Fox Rent A Car

I am very sorry that you had an issue with the coverage you signed for at pick up. To remove any coverage from the rental please return back to the rental facility to sign a new rental agreement. Coverages may not be added or removed by phone. Thank you.
