Oct. 13, 2023, I sent AmazonKDP a manuscript to have my book published. They charged me $448.00 to edit, format, and publish my book. They did not edit the book. On Jan. 3, 2024, they sent me a revised copy of my book, and nothing had been revised. Nothing had been done that they told me they would do. I edited the book myself, which took about four weeks, and the same thing they were supposed to do took them four months, and it still was incorrect. Honestly, what they sent back to me was a complete mess that I had to fix. They also charged me $500.00 for a copyright, which is a document with my name and the name of my book on it, and that is it. It looks fake and cheap. I have been told by other publishers that copyrights are free. They switched me from one person (*********************) to another (*********************), and I was hopeful that he would get the job done for me, but he did the same thing. Sent back copies of my book that was incomplete and incorrect. I did not receive the services they promised me. To this day, I am still trying to get my book published. I don't have the funds to pay another publisher until I get a refund. It's been almost nine months, and I no longer want to deal with AmazonKDP. I have every email to and from them if needed. On May 24, 2023, I signed a contract with KDP Publishers, **** help me to self publish my manuscript. I was not pleased with the quality of their editing. On February 23, 2024, I had sent an email to Mr. ********************* in regards to my dissatisfaction with their services.His reply was: Your patience has been greatly appreciated, and I ask that you trust us to deliver the best possible outcome for your book. If, after the revisions, you still find the result unsatisfactory, we will proceed with processing your refund without hesitation.To this day, I have given them ample time to do so. I told **************** of my frustration over the lack of editing and that I did not want another incorrect manuscript file sent to me but I wanted him to honor the refund he promised me.His reply: I appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. Since we began working on your project on May 23, we have provided several services as part of the Book Creation package you selected, services include a critical review by a genre expert, as well as Formatting, Typesetting, and Layout adjustments to ensure your manuscript meets industry standards. including a high-quality book cover that you approved.The so called formatted version he mentioned has words spread out too much in sentences in which I have addressed.In regard to the book cover, I have sent an email on February 23, 3024 to ************************* who was assigned to my manuscript and book cover stating I had sent revisions to the blurb. No changes were made.Instead of the refund Mr. ******* offered me additional services at no charge. I replied that I did not want additional services. I was thrilled to embark on writing my novel as a college student. Believing this company's affiliation with Amazon KDP and Amazon Prime, I eagerly began the process in November 2023. They claimed to offer such connections. However, to kickstart editing and writing, they demanded a $389 fee. As a college student, this sum could have covered my textbooks or meals when I grew tired of the campus cafe. Fast forward to April 2024, I've come to the disheartening realization that this entire business is a scam. They assured me my book would be polished and published by December, yet it remains unfinished. Throughout this ordeal, I've encountered a revolving door of project managers: ****, *************************, ***********************, ******************************************* individuals who, in their inconsistency and unprofessionalism, made unattainable promises to a vulnerable college student. Their failure to deliver on their commitments forced me to spend Christmas and Spring break tirelessly refining my manuscript alone, as they disregarded my input.Adding insult to injury, each manager attempted to extort an additional $5,000 from me for book promotions and miscellaneous things. However, I couldn't justify further investment when they couldn't fulfill their initial obligations. Attached is the *** contract they coerced me into signing. Despite my inquiries about a refund, they've evaded responsibility, leaving me feeling exploited.This business preyed on my youthful ambitionI was only eighteen when I embarked on this literary journey. Unfortunately, it's now too late to seek recourse through my bank, as it has been six months since the initial payment. I earnestly hope for a refund to allocate the funds toward my tuition and school expenses. I acknowledge my own naivety and trustfulness. I bear responsibility for my part in this misfortune. On March 7 I requested a refund from Amazon KDP in the amount of $2756.25. The original contract stated that I could cancel the project at anytime before/during as noted in the contract I have uploaded. I am a self-published author on the kdp.amazon.com account and my account was victimized by a scammer and consequently shut down and temporarily blocked. I have attempted for 7 days to call customer support, email and use the support chat messaging system with amazon for assistance in unblocking and reinstating my account. None of my attempts have been successful and I cannot access my book online at all. I cannot edit, change, or bulk order copies of my own book through kdp.amazon.com and no one at amazon has assisted me with this issue despite multiple attempts over the past 7 days. They have lied to me and told me it would be resolved within 24 hours and I am still locked out of accessing my account. I received spam emails requesting my cc number over a false claim that there was a dispute over an amazon retail purchase. When I clicked on the link, it blocked my account. This was obviously spam that caused this issue and now my book and author account are being held hostage. I am the author and owner of this account and ******************** will not reinstate and unblock this account for me. I need assistance asap. I am hosting a large scale conference and need to bulk order books for my event. Their offshore customer service reps have no idea what I'm talking about when I call for help and they continue to lie to me and say they will resolve the issue in 24 hours and never do. I am paying amazon a portion of every sale of my book that I can no longer even access as the author. In January I complained to Amazon that I was being harassed by various Amazon employees. These employees locked my titles so they couldn't be used. In February I complained because they were doing it again. Someone going by the name *********************** claimed she would fix it. She didn't. She did nothing to the employees doing this.In March I complained because I was still being harassed by Amazon employees AND Amazon had illegally published my books for sale in ******. I did not authorize this. I don't want my books sold in ****** where they can be copied and published all over the internet. In retalation, less than 24 hours later, 80 of my titles were unpublished and taken off sale by ***********************.I called Amazon several times and was finally referred to someone calling himself ***** ******. ***** was supposed to call me back and make sure that my titles were being published. I received an email from him and responded that *********************** was unpublishing more of my titles not fixing them. At the mention of that name, he stopped all contact and did not call me back as he had scheduled to do. So the leader of this group of employees harassing me is ***********************.These employees asked me to submit a signed letter stating these were my images. I did. They said that wasn't enough, that I had to get stock images from an online image company. So I did that for three of my books and republished the covers. They locked them immediately without any explanation at all.Over the past two weeks I've watched my books appear then disappear then appear again. There is no rhyme or reason to which ones are pulled then republished or which ones are pulled next. Currently there are 85 unpublished by Amazon for no reason except harassment and retaliation.I have several PDF screenshots as proof. They are much larger than your upload *** of 5mb. This morning, Amazon sent me an e-mail saying that my KDP account was "connected to another account that was previously closed for violating Amazon Content Guidelines". The problem is that I do not recall ever having another account that violated the **** I e-mailed them twice, also addressing the possibility of the termination being because of the existence of another KDP account (an old, forgotten and inactive account, with NO published content nor info, in the same IP as my computer). They did not clarify if that was the issue and remained with their decision.Amazon KDP unfortunately is my main income source, and their neglect with their indie authors is making everything harder to solve.Initial Complaint

I've been using Amazon KDP for several months, always adhering to their terms and conditions, which is why I've never received any warnings or had my account suspended. However, I recently received an email from Amazon KDP support informing me that they terminated my account, removed all my books, and withheld my outstanding royalties. This occurred on 16th March, 2024. Their reason was suspicion of me having multiple accounts, including one that had allegedly been terminated previously. These allegations are false; I've never had multiple accounts or any prior terminations. I immediately reached out to them via email on 17th March, 2024, asking them to clarify the basis for their suspicions so I could address them. However, despite multiple attempts to engage with them, they responded with almost the same email template, indicating they've reevaluated their decision and are upholding it. I'm uncertain if I'm even communicating with a real person, as their responses lack any personalization or acknowledgment of my concerns. I've offered to confirm my identity through documents or even video verification, providing evidence of my sole account and legitimate activity, but they haven't given me the chance to do so. This abrupt termination has severely impacted my business and livelihood, as I rely on Amazon KDP for publishing and distributing my creative contents. I feel frustrated and unfairly treated, and I'm seeking assistance in resolving this matter promptly.
