1 starHomeowner with 12 sunpower panels. The panels were not working for a year, it took 8 months to get a repair person to come and they said it was a faulty connection. 3 months later a different repair person came with a new box and installed the until one our garage. Still producing power. Still can not get a customer service person on the phone however another repair person comes unannounced and the panels started working. The repair people are independent contractors and cant help to contact customer service. After 16 months of panels not generating power- we were billed 6k for electricity bills which is only for 3 months. Meanwhile we were paying for sunpower monthly and now we are at risk of our electricity being turned off. Sunpower has opened a case and lead us to believe they would review this and that we should receive a rebate check. As of today, we are 18months of still trying to have this handled and customer service has just given us the same a supervisor will call you back in ***** hours. I call every business day and I email. We are completely stuck. I am reporting this company to BBB and fair trade commission as well as ********** utility commissions, and have put a claim in federal as well.Review fromDavid S

Their installer network is terrible. They are all small companies that have little to no presence in a market. When our installer shut down in ******, Get Solarized, there is no alternative to support you existing customers. The companies they suggest via their customer service people and on their website either refuse to service us or never return call. I would avoid SunPower at all costs. Although they come up on a ****** search as a leading upplier of solar panels, their customer service, dealer network and warranty support is a ****** agree with they other comments posted on BBB about their willingness to resolve anything quickly. Maybe their panels are good but the overall issue is a poor dealer network, poor customer service, and dealers who seem to be in it for a quick hit opportunity and then disappear in pot installation support. I know there are at least 8 customers in the **** area who have been left high and dry for ongoing support. I will be investigating legal action against them to force them to support their warranty and make sure that the system is working properly.Any customer in the ********* or **** area do your due diligence in choosing and installer if they are going to use SunPower products.SunPower Corporation

I decided to go with another company and informed Sunpower's contracting company Homesmart. Reason is Sunpower rating is not as good and ***** the person we had Zoom was kind of rude. When I question on certain things, he rushed off the call before I even had the chance to talk about the battery backup option. I had to email later to get the info.After I decided to install the solar panel with another company, I inform ***** and ask about the battery option as it's a separate project. He just said too bad you chose a LESSER company and he could not help me on the battery anymore.I know Sunpower is big, they might be around later, BUT do I want to deal with them if I ever need help in the future? If I could give them zero stars I would. Absolutely one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. After repeatedly reporting issues with my system and not getting anyone to come out they finally sent a technician which discovered a bad inverter which caused me to receive utility bills that I would not have if the system was functioning properly. I had to make phone calls and send emails since last year often never getting a response back only to finally be told they would credit me $50.00. SunPower is a well-known solar product manufacturer and distributor. I have found their services to be unsatisfactory due to poor communication and poor selection of installers. This has been frustrating for me while looking for updates on their solar installations or assistance with issues that have arisen.I have found the installers provided by SunPower inexperienced and lacked the necessary skills to properly install my solar system. This has lead to poor performance and reduced efficiency of the solar system, resulting in reduced savings for me. Wait times have been extremely long for parts and installation. Technicians have shown up without advanced notice and no notice of leaving my home. Any fault for wrong doing has been blamed on some other subcontractor or LADWP. The project took almost 2 years to complete. In conclusion, I am not recommending Sunpower or their installers to anyone. I am still waiting for a defective part to be shipped and installed. But no communication.SunPower Corporation

The process of leasing the system was great. They all work very hard for my business. However, once the system starts to malfunction, nobody cares. A couple of years ago my system was down for 6 months, yes I got reimbursed for 'Non-performance", but at a much lower rate than what I actually paid to *************** Now my system has been down for almost 2 months, guess what, they just ignore all my calls and emails.SunPower Corporation

We purchased a new home with brand new SunPower system. Since we activated the solar. Half of the panels are not working. Were losing money on putting expensive solar panels on our roof but theyre not producing properly. I called, emailed and even they told me not to keep calling, theyre aware of it. I asked for the compensation for the loss since we had it. They said since we own the system, theres no compensation. The compensation is only for leasing or PPA program. After 2 and 1/2 months. The technician finally came in and told us 5 out of 11 panels needs to be replaced. I wonder why there is no compensation for the loss. I thought they had the best customer service and great panels but turned out to be homeowners loss. It does not make sense.SunPower Corporation

We thought we were doing a great decision going with Sunpower but now we regretted that decision! Extremely lack of communication and organization. We are in process to get solar and our project coordinator does not answer any of our emails or calls. It's impossible to talk to him. None of his assistants would transfer the call to him. We approved the project and added 2 new panels to our project, we resigned the contract along with the Sunpower representative, one week later he sends us an email telling us that we would not be able to add the two panels and that we needed a new contract, well, that was already signed and ready to go a week later. As of today that has been 2 weeks and when I called this afternoon his assistant say that the project is still in adjustment by the engineers and that will take 2 more weeks. So we are losing 4 weeks here! We are looking to be grandfathered into NEM2.0 and time is really precious here. We don't know if that will happen anymore and since we haven't done any payment we might just cancel the whole project if anything happens in proper time.SunPower Corporation

DO NOT USE SUNPOWER!!!! I contracted with Sunpower in Jun/July of 2022. The process took an extremely long time and there was a huge lack of communication. Finally our install was schedule for Nov 21. Several vans showed up with all the panels. I spoke to the crew supervisor who was completely unaware of the scope of the project the initial site survey/inspection had drawn up. The plan called for a small trench (about 8ft long) to be dug between my garage and house. The supervisor began debating the original trench design wanting to go from the other side of the house around the back to the garage. This would require tearing up our patio which they were not going to replace. I told them the original plan, and in order to get the wiring to that side of the house they would need to go through part of a crawlspace that was fully cemented (no dirt). The techs began saying they were not going to be able to fit. That was complete c*** as these guys were smaller than myself and I fit just fine. There was also another way to get to that area going through the basement and the old hatchway. they would then need to trench under a 2ft sect of patio and then have a clear line of trenching to the garage. They refused that as well claiming it won't pass inspection (which I also know was crap). They then asked about putting them on the second floor roof but that hasn't been redone yet so I said if they agree to take them off/on at know charge then sure. I'd have preferred that. Bottom line, They basically just didn't want to do the job and they left. A week or so later I got a cancellation doc from them which I have yet to sign. I have also heard from the ** that recommended sunpower said that they have cancelled several jobs because they weren't simple installs. IN my opinion sunpower is in breach of contract and I am considering looking into options for recourse.SunPower Corporation
