I received an offer in the mail for debt consolidation loan at a rate as low as 5% based on prequalification. I contacted the company to explore this offer. I had very good credit, I had a good income, and I stated that I was interested specifically in the offer to lower my monthly payment at a lower interest rate. They took my information, ran my credit, and presented me with a set payment amount ($902-that later doubled to $1804) and said that could be paid off in 2-4 yrs. When I asked about impact to my credit, the *** said it "could" have a neg impact for about 6 mos but resolves quickly if I made my payments to them on time. She told me (and coached me ongoing) to stop talking to creditors. She directed me quickly through the extensive contract, calling out select areas and giving selected high-level explanations of each page - later to find out she was not explaining or calling out very significant financial obligations and practices verbally. In the scanning of the multiple-page contract, she implied that she had already verbally explained and covered all the relevant details and obligations and the contract was a lot of required legal-ease. What I have learned since 8/2024 is that this company charges 25% of the original debt amount on each debt, they collect that up front and before paying all the creditors - causing extended resolution of all debts, more than the quoted 6 mos impact to the credit ***ort, and extending participation in their program. My financial situation since 8/2024: $16600 total paid to date, $8744 paid to creditors, $7888 paid in fees to Beyond. This is only for 2/4 of my creditors, and my credit score went from 750+ to 630 over 8 mos. This is predatory; they mis***resent how they work, 25% on original debt amount (not resolved), and now I cannot even take out a home equity to get out of this situation because my credit score dropped so badly. They do not advertise or explain the program accurately or in good faith.Business Response

Review confirmed that your enrollment agents clearly explained your program. They clearly advised that the option presented was not a loan and explained all fees related to the program. Additionally, the manner in when fees are earned and collected is clearly covered in your enrollment agreement in paragraph 11. (a) Program Fees.
" Program fees are due and earned when: (i) the Company reaches a resolution offer on an enrolled debt with a creditor, (ii) the Client accepts and agrees to the new terms, and (iii) the first payment of the new agreed upon terms is made to the creditor."
All fees have been earned and collected in accordance with this expectation.
Additionally, you were advised that typically creditworthiness starts to see improvement around the six month ***** but that was not a guarantee.

Unethical practices to get business. Bending the truth and changing the story as it goes. Preying on individuals that have found themselves in credit card debt due to high cost of living and changing jobs. Wont provide me with a copy of my calls all recorded to them.Business Response

I joined the Beyond program to help with debts in November 2022. I just recently withdrew from the program because I feel like *** paid so much money to this program and only one card has been paid off. They took the remaining money out of my dedicated savings account and said thats what I owed for some fees. *** paid almost $5,000 to this company and only one card of $755 was paid off.Business Response

One of the cornerstones of successfully progressing in the program is on time, consistent, program deposits. Our records reflect some inconsistencies in your deposit history which prevented the accumulation of funds and limited your ability to progress in the program.
Information about the program fee, including how and when it is earned and collected, is covered in your enrollment agreement under paragraph 11. (a) Program Fees. It reads, in part, as follows:

Beyond Finance fees are not disclosed on total balance due amount in attempts to hide fees from their paying customers. We received three lawsuits, which we were advised by their representative would be unlikely to happen when working with Beyond Finance. The monthly payments continued to increase tremendously over time with little to no time provided when notifying us of the increase. Three of our accounts we had to settle on our own without Beyond Finances help.Once we completed the program and paid off our balance Beyond Finance still attempted to take over $700 out of our bank account. Our bank reversed this charge. When contacting Beyond Finance to inquire why they took out another monthly charge after we had Graduated their program, the representative advised they did not know why. Had I known this company was not working for their customer rather their own profit I would have sought out other options to manage debt in a quicker manner without constantly feeling scammed by the company who I paid to assist me. In circumstances where creditors opt to move your account into a legal status, Beyond Finance quickly prioritizes that account. In these circumstances, it is not uncommon to present conditional offers that would require additional funds to move forward. These offers are not required to be approved, rather presented as an option to expedite resolution.
Graduation review on your program was initiated on March 20, 2025. At this time, your scheduled monthly deposit was already in transit. Once your Graduation review was completed, all future deposits were cancelled.

I will start by saying that I don't know if I am a special case or if this is something that went wrong on their end. I looked at the reviews prior to going into their program, and they were overwhelmingly good. When I originally started the program, it was to consolidate the debt that I accrued due to being out of work during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was told that at first my credit score would go down and then improve, which is to be expected, and that is what happened. However, 2 years into the program and after my credit score improved, all of the missed payments and delinquencies have returned to my credit report, which is not something I was told would happen or was warned could be a possibility. Furthermore, when I called to ask about why this would be happening, they were not able to give me an answer. I then paid off the rest of the loan in a lump sum payment to end the program. They instead continued to charge me more than a week after I paid off the existing amount. I was given a short apology and was told that I would have the money back next week, as it was a bank transfer. As I said in the beginning, the company does have a good review history, but with the lack of explanations that I received after these events occurred makes me believe this was a series of mistakes on their part. I would like to know if they are doing anything about my credit report.Business Response

On 07/28/2024 I had searched for a debt relief program. I was referred to the beyond debt financial consolidation program. I contacted them and we discussed a program that they felt would be of benefit to me. They retrieved my financial information, and we discussed a program in which they said would be beneficial to me. The amount seemed within reason of what I could afford at the time, so I agreed upon the terms that they recommended for me. Now the real kicker is that they do not inform all of your creditors of your participation in the debt relief program when you sign up for the program. Instead, they give you a customized portfolio containing all of the creditor's that you owe money to. Due to that fact, if there is a creditor that is seeking immediate payment on that list, it will take legal action against you, and you will end up going to court. I have had two court days and a third one coming up in a couple of days! The first court date was an initial hearing on the debt itself. The second court date was a negotiation and confirmation of the amount of debt owed. I had informed the courts during my first visit both during & my hearing and in writing of the debt relief program. I kept beyond financial informed of all of this this activity way before it happened. They refused to let all of my debtors know of my enrollment with this program. Instead, they kept repeating themselves on filling out a form in which I was to repeatedly fill out. I filled it out and sent it in several times. Also, the creditor had sent me the financial history of my debt in which I sent certified mail to them. Not only did they claim that they didn't receive the information from the mail I sent, but they also claimed that they didn't receive my response to all of the forms that I filled out! Even though they sent me emails confirming to me that they did receive the information! At this point, I am sick and tired of receiving these same messages from them with no results!Business Response

Ive made a total of 3 payments of $352.62 totaling $1,057.83 and only 4 payments was made on my behalf to only 2 creditors. 3 payments to ********* associates $105.00 1 payment to Money Lion $25 Totaling only $130. The refund im requesting is $927.83.I very much understand that the money that was already given the creditors cannot be refunded however I would like to request a refund for the fees and the balance which totals $927.83 This experience with Beyond Finance has been very stressful and disappointing. There was an issue back to back and no matter how many representatives Ive spoken to and managers I felt like my account was not handled correctly due to the many errors. I understand as per your fine print beyond Is earned a 25% per settlement however, due to this stressful experience I feel like beyond finanace should not earn that percentage for any account. I was given the end of the stick and pushed around like nothing. When I enrolled in this program I expressed my financial situation especially with having a newborn and a shortage of hours, I still trusted Beyond Finance and this company has failed me. I would like for a manager to honor this request if possible. Please put your in my position and see everything Ive had to deal with in a short period of time in this program. They have been taking my money each month to resolve my discover debt. They told me to let discover only talk to them so it would not be confusing. They told me that I should not pay discover directly but should only pay through them. Today discover served me papers that they are suing me for breach of contract. Beyond Finance told me that there is nothing that they can do about it. They did not offer to refund my money or set things right with discover.
