My complaint is very similar other complaints I see posted. I purchased a bundle of 3 books, paid for them, and then a few weeks later received another additional charge for $97. After a quick ****** search, I found the reason for the charge was a hidden annual subscription they are charging people for. There is no simple straight forward way to get your money back. It seems obvious to me this company is knowingly deceiving customers with a hidden subscription that they can legally fall back on saying "you should have opted out". This is absolutely ridiculous and to see so many others have had this same issue and reported it only tells me the company is aware and continuing the deceitful process anyway. Disappointing to see a company selling children's book running a scam like this.Business Response

I order 3 paperback books for my grandson and that $27 order was fulfilled accordingly. I did receive an email form the company stating that with the books I ordered that I was eligible for their free digital library. I had to download their app to see the library and then decided I wouldnt use it and deleted the app. Then I saw $97 charge from this company to my bank account. I never received any warning or notice that I was in some sort of trial period to purchase this app. I have called the company and the phone routes you to their online help desk. I have sent multiple messages to their help desk and received no response. Yet I continue to receive advertising from them. This is very disappointing as I was pleased with the books I ordered even though it took almost a month for them to arrive. I dont think I should be charged for a service I did not authorize and was not notified about in advance.Business Response

I purchased and received a set of books in September. They are great, no complaints there. However, I received an alert from my bank on 10/15/22 that my credit card was being used for a $97 charge on the **** website. I did not authorize a charge, nor was I aware that this was potentially a recurring subscription I was signing up for until I read other comments here. I also went back through all the emails they sent (which was a lot, I did try to unsubscribe) and none of them say anything about signing up for a recurring charge. One email provides login info for accessing the digital library, but nothing about recurring charges. I never even logged into the digital library because I didnt want it! I also took a screenshot of my order receipt which only states free 30 day trial and nothing about a subscription. If I recall correctly, at checkout you couldnt even uncheck the option. Based on the comments here, this business needs to be stopped from being allowed to do this! Thankfully my credit card stopped it!Business Response

I bought 4 books from this business and paid with my credit and received my books, however, never did they once say anything about this being a subscription and they took out $103.79 for some kind of a subscription to their company that I never once agreed to. On September 14,2022, I ordered three books for my grandchild. I was happy with the books and had no complaints. However, today I was charged $97 (automatic payment) for a digital subscription. I dont even know what theyre talking about. I never ordered this product, never authorized a recurring ongoing subscription, and I have received nothing from PDIC (digitally or hard copy). I have been working on getting this resolved, and contacting BBB was one of my first steps. I checked complaints against PDIC and one of the first ones described my situation exactly: bought a few books and then was charged a month later for the $97 digital product. She said that there was no mention of agreeing to any ongoing automatic charge and she did not see anything that indicated that she agreed to a expensive subscription. This is my exact same experience. So obviously, PDIC has built in an invisible scam when ordering. I dont want anyone else to be a victim of ***** unethical practices.Business Response

My credit card was fraudulently billed $102.82 by PDIC for an annual subscription I did not request or use. We bought some books for our granddaughter back in July, but we did not agree to any other business with PDIC. We attempted to contact the company, but there are no working telephone lines available for PDIC, nor are there customer service agents available online. With email and online, I have canceled the subscription and requested a refund, but there has been no response from the company. I ordered 3 children's books from a company called Puppy Dogs and Ice Cream on August 17, 2022. The books were $49.95. It apparently included a free 30 day trial membership for a digital download service. I did not select this free trial membership! My credit card was charged $97.00 on September 17, 2022 without notification or permission. Puppy Dogs & Ice Cream charged unauthorized monies to my account. I would like these monies refunded. On August 17, 2022 Transaction # 8KT78426Mu6620409 $ ***** + Ship **** + tax $2.10 = Total of $38.00 for 3 paperback books not ordered or authorized to pay. 2nd order on August 17, 2022 Transaction # 7J313252CH412811U for$8.95 + tax $.63 + ****= Total $**** for Paperback book not ordered or authorized to pay. On September 17, 2022 Transaction# OPL75148PC1187213 for $97.00 for Digital Library. Total amount not ordered or authorized is $ ******. I never ordered these items and never authorized to pay for these items which also never received and I DO NOT wish to receive. These are fraudulent charges. I tried call and not allowed to leave message just refer us to send email. I sent email and I received a computer generated reply stating I would be contacted within 24 hours. Never happened as it is well over 24 hours. It seams this company has compromised many peoples accounts and continues to do so. I would like an immediate refund.Refund totaling $144.48. They have compromised my Bank Account and my PayPal account These people need to be stopped. I have changed PayPal password and I will be visiting bank and change passwords.Business Response
