Terrible. They recommend pros that are not pros. Thumbtack has a limited period of time to make a claim for a guarantee, but they do not answer emails, text, or phone calls to make a claim. The pro damaged our home and then inactivated their thumbtack account. Thumbtack is just ignoring us. Wish I had never heard of thumbtack and I wish I had never hired the pro they peddled to us.Thumbtack, Inc.

Scam business. They automatically charge you for "qualified leads" which turn out to be not real and then they do not reimburse me. You can request a 'refund.' They call it a 'refund' when you do not get your money back. They do not know what the word refund means. For one false lead, their email says "You've received a refund of $101.85" and then it says further "We've deleted (name's) job because it didn't meet our guidelines and have refunded the $101.85 you paid for the lead to your Thumbtack balance. You can use your balance for your next leads." REFUINDED, they say. But is is a lie. They refused to give me my money back, but instead have it as a credit for me to hire someone else. I was trying to make some money with my HR Consulting. They charge a high price for their scams and yet, they are keeping my money even when they agree with me that it was a false lead. I was charged for two false leads. I contacted them and they refused to give my money back. I had to go through my bank. I was able to get one reversed and the other charge was not reversed because buried in their agreement, is says, in my words "We are gonna keep your money even if you are paying for false leads, because we are the real scammers." They should not be in business.Thumbtack, Inc.

We're sorry to hear this has been your experience on Thumbtack, *********. All sales on Thumbtack are final and non-refundable per our refund policy in our Terms of Use under the section Thumbtack Fees and Taxes., which all users on Thumbtack agree to upon signing up. However, we know every dollar counts when you are a business owner, so there are certain situations where we will add credit back to your Thumbtack balance. If you ever find that a customers request does not match your account preferences, if you quoted on the same customers project twice, or if a customer request violates our Terms of Use, we will review the situation. In these cases we may add credit to your account for the cost of that contact. You can read more about our refund policy here: https://help.thumbtack.com/article/refund-policy.Review fromMeghan T

Do not use this site. I learned the hard way that any old company or person can sign up to be on Thumbtack. There is no real vetting. After my experience, I'm starting to think this site is a total scam. I had an issue where I posted a review for Company A, but it was actually Company B that came to my house. Because my partner and I both were working to find a contractor, there was some confusion and I left a review for the wrong company. Whoops. Easy to fix? Wrong. I could not delete or edit my own review. Really? That's certainly inconvenient. So I emailed them with the error.I've dealt with two customer service reps (one supervisor named ****) that have told me that due to their "integrity" they cannot remove the review. As I said to them, what kind of integrity is it to leave up a review for a company it doesn't belong to? This is false and untrue and should certainly be removed. My review is up there in error, hurting the wrong party that it is attached to, yet Thumbtack will not intervene and make it right. How awful is that? This is Thumbtack's definition of "integrity," apparently. After doing more homework, I realize the Pros pay so much money for leads (just your clicking to connect with them charges them), which it translates into higher prices for the customer. The way I see it, this company is out to get everyone's money and doesn't care about anyone involved. Do yourself a favor and do not use this site. It appears to be a burden to everyone involved.Thumbtack, Inc.

Hi ******, thank you for reaching out here. We see that you were able to get in touch with Support about this and they did inform you that all review disputes are being thoroughly checked, and our decision is based on the results of the investigation. Nevertheless, you still have the option to revise what was left, as it is still available through your profile page.Review fromVincent H.

They are a rip off and do not stand by their refund policy by any means. When a client directly contacts you, they charge you (the pro) immediately regardless if the client ever speaks to you. As part of their policy they state that if the client does not respond through their app to the pro, the pro is entitled to a refund. They changed and revised this many times to create loopholes to keep their fees. A potential client can initially direct contact up to 5 pros, in which case, thumbtack now charged 5 pros $35 each regardless of whether or not the client even responds to a pro's response. This is beyond double dipping. I would never recommend this to any professional seeking to build a business. Terrible practice and shame on the BBB for not doing their homework on a rip-off company.Thumbtack, Inc.

As you're aware, we are a lead-generating platform. Customers who have projects or jobs that match your targeting preferences that you entered into your account can reach out to you to learn more about working with your business. When this happens, you are charged a lead fee. You're paying for the value of being connected with a potential customer whether or not you're hired. All sales on Thumbtack are final and non-refundable per our refund policy in our Terms of Use under the section Thumbtack Fees and Taxes., which all users on Thumbtack agree to upon signing up. Thumbtack is terrible. I was warned against using thumbtack but did it anyway. Big mistake. Support is the worse Ive seen in any industry. Lack of support is beyond anything Ive experienced at any level. I assume they are keeping my money since there isnt anyone to explain the situation. I would give a no star rating if the system allowed.Thumbtack, Inc.

I thought this was a company that provide you some help in repairing a problem you have. Least of all not a property which platforms a repair person to come to you house and do damage. It was only a lever to a dishwasher that needed replaced. I spoke with the pro and he came right away. Once he arrived, I made sure that he was who he said he was. He began working on my dishwasher, and after an hour or so, the dishwasher was still under the cabinet, he was trying to remove the panel to the front. After another ten minutes or so, he finally got the dishwasher out and the door opened. He stated he was going to ****** to get a new lever. He left and after 40 minutes went by, he returned with no part. He said he was ordering the new lever from Amazon. Thought that was strange. I said why dont you go to an appliance parts store here in town. He said it was better to order through Amazon. He wanted payment for some of the work. I said, but your not finished and nothing has been completed. I went ahead and paid a partial payment to the guy. He then said, make the name out to a different name. He said, I am his brother. I was bewildered and wrote the check out. He left and I turned and looked at my dishwasher, the panel was all damaged, k**** missing. The appliance was no longer in working condition, mangeled. Unacceptable. I immediately stopped payment of the check.Kenneth R

1 starBuyer beware. They couldnt qualify a lead to save their lives. I lost so much money with them. Im a kitchen remodeler and received a two star review from a guy who wanted me to repair a window and stain a door. They couldnt even fix it Even though I sent screen shots of the crazy conversation. I paid for a two star review. I guess I deserve it for being dumb enough to think this was going to go any other way.Review fromCarol W

1 starIf I could give 0, I would. I got confirmation of scheduled appointment. Rearranged my workday around it....then no one showed up. They said they were busy and didn't even know I was scheduled, then they *************** me after not showing up for hours. Will NEVER use Thumbtack again.Review fromDanny P

1 starThey automatically charge pro accounts for not qualified leads and then not refunding you. If they do refund it's only going to your Thumbtack account and you can't take it back to your card or bank. These guys are ripping people off without bringing any value.
