  I had a Thumbtack Pro account (offering my freelance graphic/web design services) but had not used it in five years -- the user experience and cost became not at all worth it (and this was before they started their current scam of charging you for any lead they connect you with). My account was dormant and virtually deactivated - no notifications or charges since 2017. On 9/6/22, I accidentally logged into their app for less than a minute. There was no alert or notification shown, no confirmation that I agreed to start using their service again, no confirmation that I understood how and what I'd be charged for and that I would authorize those charges (it had all changed significantly since I'd last logged on). The next thing I knew, I'd been charged $250 in a matter of days (the credit card I had used originally had LONG been deactivated but somehow had my current card on file). Immediately after this login, they also ran a background check on me without my explicit request or consent!!!

  Getting a refund from Thumbtack is horrible. My preference for how far I would travel was set at 30 miles. I received a lead and was charged $80 for it. The customer was 47 miles, and over an hour away. I requested a refund because the lead was CLEARLY outside of my lead preferences. I was told that I would not be refunded because it didn't meet Thumbtack's refund policy. They take the money right then but if by some miracle you are granted a refund, it's a lead credit. No actual money is refunded.

  Rating: No Stars. I've been a loyal top pro for a few years now. Thumbtack is now having pros set what they're willing to pay for the leads rather than having the leads' cost standardized from week to week and/or by region. So since this happened, I don't need a heap of leads on a weekly basis. But now, since this went into effect, I have to set what I'm willing to pay for leads so high that I can't make any money based on the rates people are willing to pay me for the services I provide. It's just too expensive for those of us who have talent and services to provide, get excellent reviews consistently for those services, but we can't now get work at a rate we can afford. My rates last week (what I'm willing to pay up to for leads) were showing 'more competitive' and now today, Tuesday they're showing 'competitive'. I didn't change anything. Thumbtack shifts this every week. I just can't afford this. This is my only income. And on top of that, I paid for 'free' leads. I still haven't received them all and they expire after 30 days. This is really dishonest on Thumbtack's part.

  I was referred to this site by another professional looking for leads. This site is a straight scam. They generate pseudo leads then charge you for them even though you do not ask for them. Then in some cases they charge you twice for the exact same lead. I have paid out hundreds and all I have gotten in return is a message saying they had more leads. Now they are charging me for leads that do not match my services. There is no way to determine if these leads are even generated by a real person. As for refunds...good luck. Also, there's a guy named *** who is starting a class action lawsuit, contact him here..https://wdophoto.com/. He also experienced the same scam service as the rest of us have

  This company is complete and needs shut down. I was a young company and started with them I thought it quite odd that they did not vet me at all in any way. We were 2 years into using the service and a scam artist paid them thumbtack without or permission or authorization in any way. To collect payment for my company then someone paid them thinking they are paying me. Even after creating a major situation and bad situation for my company they bow refuse to fix the problem they made. Contractors run customers run this is terrible company in every way.

  DO NOT SIGN UP AS A PRO THE LEADS ARE USELESS AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU A REFUND EVEN IF THE LEAD IS REQUESTING A SERVICE THAT YOU DON'T EVEN OFFER

  Thumbtack is possibly one of the most deceitful websites out there. Running a huge scam for many years And the Gov does nothing about it. They should be heavily fined for their snake oil salesmen practices. Very very crazy. Stay away! Report them every time. They need to be stopped!!!

  Ridiculous! There's absolutely no customer service... how this is possible I sunny know, but it is... the person who did my job did a HORRIBLE job & without customer service, I'm left to pay for someone to fix the mess that was made

  Just file police report on A+ Handyman who I paid $1300.00 no call no show no answer and thumbtack is no help I called many times no answer from them I emailed thy *** many times no return email

  I hired a cleaning service to do a deep clean of my apt. I told them kitchen windows and walls wiped down and floor mopped. Also. Windows in bedroom and livingroom. Dusting in livingroom and bedroom. She did the floor in kitchen and vacuum around tables and chairs. Did a good job with the windows. But, dust is everywhere. On picture frames and baseboards. Ceilings and blind rods. My house us disgusting. I paid ****** for someone who didn't speak English. Thumbtack needs to pay me back my money. And tell ****************** is a scam.
