I have been locked out of my email account: ********************************** for no reason. I have two-step authentication and have access to the backup email address and phone number. I continuously get an error message when trying to log in. When I try to troubleshoot, I get led to a help page telling me that I need to subscribe and pay $4.99 monthly in order to get tech support over the phone because none of the online recommendations work. This is highly predatory. I called the number and followed all instructions to verify my account and my identity. There was still no resolve outside of trying again in 24 hours. Mind you, I've already waited 24 hours to get back in my account because I've been having this issue for several days. I even followed the steps from the phone representative and nothing worked. They are trying to get me to voluntarily pay for this for a problem I did not create. This is outlandish.Business Response

Yahoo email has been locking people out of their accounts. Although I know my username (email) and password, it is now requiring me to verify my account. They are using an old email I haven't had access to for 10+ years. There is no way to log in. The only option is to pay for customer supportBusiness Response

On May 15, 2025 I was locked out of my Yahoo email account. It says that my password is incorrect. I dont even log into my email because it is always open. It keeps saying that my password is invalid. I did all the free ways to attempt to get back into my email including an online chat. Nothing worked. They had me call a paid customer service number and are requiring way too much personal information. Things that were never on file. I believe this is an attempt to do something illegal with my personal data. Yahoo has been my email address for 30 yrs. It has my paperless billing going there as well as all my business. I need my account unlocked and I am not providing them with my personal information. Thank you so much for help!Business Response

I have two yahoo email accounts. Both accounts are requesting me to input a 6 digit code in order to access the account. I cant access the 6 digit code because both accounts are requesting the code before I can get into the account. Their only option to unlock it is by paying a fee through their premium customer support. This is a scam and unethical.Business Response

I know the login information to my yahoo account, but they won't let me login without the recovery email. The recovery email is from a charter account that no longer exists because Charter stopped doing email addresses. They said I have to call them, and sign up for a subscription package of ************************************* into my account. I know the information, and this feels wrong. I have no way to tell them I cannot use that recovery email anymore cause it is all paid phone subscription ********** Yahoo Account Email is *******************************************Business Response

We understand that you'd like to reset the password for your Yahoo Mail account.
We're sorry but it looks like we don't have enough information on this account to securely verify your identity as the account owner. Because we can't confirm it's your account, we won't be able to help you with this particular Yahoo ID.
We recommend creating a new Yahoo ID at ********************************, clicking Create an account at the bottom of the "Sign in" window, and then follow the onscreen instructions.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
You have given me no avenue to reclaim this email address. It is not my fault that charter stopped allowing emails and my mother passed away locking that one out. There are accounts with monetary value tied to that email address. You should clearly be able to see that no one has logged into it in a long time, so it is not an active email address of someone elses I am attempting to steal. This is my own email address from many years ago that I need access to.
Sincerely,
****** *******Business Response

Before we can assist someone with a Yahoo account, we need to verify that they're the owner. To do this, we need to ask questions based on the information that appears on it. The information we normally look for is not present on the account that you're asking for help with, so we have no way to assist you.Initial Complaint

Formal Complaint Regarding Yahoo Account Recovery Policy To Whom It May Concern,I am filing this complaint regarding Yahoo's account recovery policy, which has effectively locked me out of my personal email account and is demanding paid support for assistance. I am **********, so I cannot afford some subscription to get help.I was logged into my Yahoo account up until the last few months, with no prior issues accessing it. Suddenly, Yahoo required additional verification, but my recovery options were linked to an old phone number *************) and a discontinued college email ****************************** i believe)both of which I no longer have access to. I reached out for help but was informed that the only way to recover my account is by paying for Yahoo Support, which is unfair and unreasonable. Yahoo is placing essential account access behind a paywall, despite this being a basic security issue that should not require payment to resolve. Many users have reported similar experiences, which indicates a troubling pattern of Yahoo making account recovery intentionally difficult to push users toward paid support. I am requesting a fair resolution that allows me to regain access to my account without being forced to pay for assistance that should be freely available. Please escalate this issue accordingly. Account Details: - Email Address: ****************************************** Date of Last Login: Early 2025 - Issue: Locked out due to outdated recovery options, no accessible verification method I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope to receive a prompt resolution. **Sincerely,** ******* ******** (******-******)Business Response

I have had Yahoo email for over 15 years and I unfortunately didnt keep my backup email up to date. However, I didnt expect to randomly have to validate myself. My password is correct! WTF Yahoo! If you are going to implement double verification, send an email! And your customer service cost money..,get the h*** out of here! For 100s of people to have this issue, shame on you! I would like access to my account via my correct password Im typing in!Business Response

I have two yahoo email accounts that I got locked out of. They both are old accounts, one is made back around *********(****************************************************************), and other one is around *********(**************************************************************). I usually access them only 1-3 times a year. Last time I accessed them was last year. These two accounts are only used for service and game verifications. Usually when I upgrade pc or phone then it needs verification so I rarely needed to access these email accounts. At the moment, I know both email account's full email addresses, as well as the correct passwords. However, when I try log in with either accounts, It will direct me to a page stating: "Is it really you?" and ask to send a verification code to old phone number that I no longer has access to.I have tried contacting support, but they said they couldn't do it and said to call back another day. Right now, I want someone from Yahoo with high level access that can actually look into my account instead of basic level support like the phone support that following scripts with minimum controls to actually help me recover account by either get rid of "is it really you" page or update the old phone number on the accounts to my current phone ******************* Knows both email account's full address and correct password Knows the full old phone numbers that is linked to the accounts but I no longer has access to Last time access to both accounts was last year, but do not remember when. One of the email address, ************************************** is literally my house number Both emails are created and has always only been accessed in my current location I don't care about the emails from both accounts, I just need access so I can get verification codes from game and services What I want from Yahoo:Either remove the "Is it really you?" page after I enter the correct password, or remove the old phone number that is linked to the two accounts and add my new phone number to themBusiness Response
