On 5/13/25 at 9:50PM CST, I contacted Yahoo premium care for help accessing my email to be able to access court documents and paperwork that was sent. I had to contact support due to no longer having access to the phone number on file for verification. Upon calling, I provided all of my personal information and the representative said, due to the circumstances I can no longer assist you on this call and will be ending it now. When Im paying for assistance and able to provide ID along with personal information there is no reason to not get help. This is the second time this has happened to me. The photo provided is the Yahoo customer support number called and the length of the call when I was hung up on.Business Response

I like so many others have been locked out of their yahoo email accounts. With the only hope of recovering is if you pay for their service. I have had this email for a very long time. And is linked to several well being resources. Being a disabled senior my social services, social security, and health care is all linked to my email that I can no longer access. This is causing me more health related issues. The email I cannot access is ***************************************** This is ridiculous. And I am gonna reach out to my local federal representative.Business Response

I have an @************************** email address that I have had for about 20 years. I recently was automatically signed out of my account in all my devices. I was directed to yahoo mail to sign in. After entering my email the website automatically directs me to ******* asking for a user ID and phone number. When that did not work other options were last name and zip code. However, none of those work. I called the help number on the *** website. I was told they do not help with @yahoo email accounts. I was then directed to yahoo mail, and the only help option is a paid premium service, which I cannot even subscribe to because I cannot get into my account! However, I should not have pay for a service because the sign in helper directs me to a website that does not support the email. I called the number for the paid premium service, they said they would place a ticket to stop my account from directing to ATT, but a week later that has not changed. I have exhausted all my options, spent hours on this, and am incredibly frustrated. My email address is being help hostage and this is completely unacceptable.Business Response

On May 13th 2025, I thought about deleting my Yahoo account (not the email I used to file this complaint) which is ****************************************** I went through with it because I wanted a new email for myself and I changed my mind immediately. When I did go through with account deletion, it told me to log in before 30 days to reactivate my account. I tried almost 10 times to log in and every time it would say "something went wrong" or "let us help you" and I couldn't get back into my account. I have a recovery number and everything and yet the "customer service" ********************** offers is a paid subscription I do not have the money for. I just was to stop the account deletion and get back my account. It's linked to my iOS Mail app and my ***** account so it's very important to.Business Response

I use a laptop computer from a library. I also use desktop computers at libraries. A few wks ago, I turned in a library laptop and borrowed another. At that time, Yahoo wouldn't open my email because I was using a device unfamiliar to them. I have been borrowing library laptops for yrs w/o having this problem. Yahoo had asked for a recovery email in case there was a problem with my account. My ************************************* account is recovery for ***************************************** and vice versa. Yahoo accepted this. Now I can't open #1 w/o #2, and vice versa. I have another laptop borrowed May 12 - same problem. I tried using a library computer - same problem. I "talked" with an AI computer w/o success. Yahoo wants me to pay to talk with a live person to resolve this issue. I don't think I should have to pay to solve a problem they caused with this recovery system. Yahoo advertisers might not appreciate how Yahoo treats people who depend on libraries for ************* this some type of age discrimination? I am 77 years old. I don't have multiple devices like some people have, and I depend on libraries. I don't even have a telephone. The number your form required is my old landline number. So please communicate by regular mail.#1. I need my email accounts to open immediately. Please help facilitate that. #2. I don't ever want to have this problem again. Please mark my email accounts in some way to indicate this runaround should never occur again.Thank you.Business Response

I've been locked out of my account because I changed my number, I receive the codes in my backup email just fine. But because I changed my phone number I cant use the 2 step verification. They only way to do change my number is to call them. Well they want to charge us now for calling customer service for a free account. Not acceptable. They won't even talk to you unless you have a credit card in handBusiness Response

Yahoo has suddenly blocked me out from Computer access from my account dispute having the correct password and verification phone number associated with the ****************************** has suddenly started requesting a phone call to verify account IDENTITY to prevent fraud and when I request call I now never receive call from yahoo.I have contacted Yahoo customer support about this problem and ********************** wants to Charge Me to fix this problem that they themselves have created. I have made numerous attempts to resolve this myself at the yahoo help site, it cannot be done unless I Pay cash demand. I suspect that this is all being to generate cash for Yahoo. There should be Consumer protection laws enforced to prevent this activity.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I refuse to PAY to correct a problem initiated by Yahoo. There should be laws in place to prevent actions like this, causing much aggravation to the consumer. This account functioned many years without a problem. It seems to me like a type of extortion.
Sincerely,
****** *****Business Response

I am filing a complaint regarding Yahoos account recovery process, which I find to be unfair and deceptive. I have had a Yahoo account since 2015 and have never had an issue accessing it until now.Recently, I was prompted to reset my password to access my account. After resetting it successfully, I was still unable to log in due to invalid password messages due to system errors. I attempted to reset my password again, but Yahoos system blocked further attempts, stating something went wrong try again later .I contacted Yahoo support, only to be told I would need to PAY for live agent assistance to recover my account. At no time during my account creation in 2015 was I informed that account recovery would require a paid subscription. This new policy feels like a retroactive paywall and is highly deceptive.Adding to the frustration, I was hung up on twice while explaining my issue frankly because I believe the phone representatives know that this is a deceptive tactic. When I finally reached a third representative, I was again told that I would have to pay for assistance. despite me previously already setting up and authenticating both of my verification methods.I am requesting free recovery of my account, a review and revision of Yahoos recovery practices to ensure fair treatment of users, and a formal acknowledgment of this inconvenience.I have screenshots of call logs and a recording of my conversation with the third support agent as evidence.I am also requesting compensation for the distress caused by being unable to access my Yahoo account, which is preventing me from managing my ************** subscription and potentially incurring ongoing charges. This has caused significant inconvenience and financial strainSincerely,***** **********Business Response

Yahoo is not providing a way for me to recover my email account. I try to contact customer support but they don't offer anything for Canadian customers. I really want to recover the account but when I enter my email Yahoo says they send a verification code to the email I'm trying to access. Which of course I don't have access to.Business Response
