Ive lost two of my emails Ive had with Yahoo over the last three years due to Yahoos data leaks that compromised my passwords. I dont have the phone number anymore thats associated with my most recent account, and the only support you can get is locked behind a monthly subscription. Putting customer care behind a paywall is absolutely ridiculous. Even more so considering that theyre the ones responsible for not protecting our accounts data. This also puts everything that email is associated with in jeopardy. Ive mainly used Yahoo as my go-to email for over 10 years. After this Ill never make an account with them again.

Hello. Ive had the same yahoo email account for over 30 years. Today I went to login but I cant. I went to the recovery page and its not giving me the option to reset my password with the only phone number thats always been on my account. I called support and the first representative sent me a link to submit my drivers license. After I did that, he hung up on me. Called back the next day and the representative told me that I didnt have a recovery option. What!? Thats not true. My whole life is connected to this email address. My kids pictures, graduations, birthday parties, hospital charts, bills, credit reports, social security numbers, etc. I called back a third time, verified all my information and the representative stated that I would have to pay for the service if they are able to help me. He said the name that I gave him wasnt on the account. I even offered to tell him some of the emails thats in my account if he was able to see them. He said no and try calling back later. This whole situation has been a nightmare and I need to access my email account. Its something that going on with multiple peoples yahoo accounts and this isnt right. My identity is in my email. Can someone please reach out to me. Thank you!

Suddenly locked out of my 15+ year old account on the same device I have been using for years. Despite entering the correct password, Yahoo (without any forewarning) is requiring the answer to a security question (in spite of having supposedly discontinued security questions years ago). When I tried answering a security question, the site either says it is wrong or tells me to log in from a device I have previously logged in on and denies me access. Yahoo now only offers paid "support". Or, as a "solution" - to create a new mail account. ********************** was my first email as a child and it is linked to countless other accounts. I am extraordinarily disappointed in Yahoo and want to warn anyone else to stay away from their services.

My nightmare with yahoo, my email provider for over 20 years began on ********* when I could no longer get email on my mobile devices. Thankfully I can still access mail on my laptop. That morning I received a message from yahoo that I needed to go to my settings on my iPad and sign into my yahoo mail account. Why? I had not signed out of my account. The nightmare continued when I could not sign into my account. I know my id, my password, but was unsure of the answer to the verification question, a verification method I later learned yahoo had stopped using years ago so even the right answer would not have made a difference. After several unsuccessful attempts to access my account on my own I then proceeded to the paid premium support service for three lengthy unsuccessful calls. During the first call I was disconnected. Probably timed out. The second call resulted in a text link for verification that I could not open. The third call came with the advice to change the browser. Link was opened, picture of license front and back taken, selfie taken. Told verification failed. Despite my misgivings to send my personal info this way I repeated the process. Again I was told verification failed. The tech then told me he was not given a reason for the failed verification, there was no one I could talk to or appeal to, I was just supposed to wait a little while and try again. For a company that has been harvesting my personal info for over 20 years there has got to be a better way to confirm my identity and reopen access to mail on my mobile *********** frustrating that yahoo would send a survey after each call and do nothing to follow up or resolve the problem. The company seems to be less interested in giving me the information needed to access my mail on all of my devices than giving my personal info out to strangers.

On May 9, 2025, attempted to login to my @************************* account on *****************************. Was asked to enter 6 digit verification code that was sent to a now defunct recovery e-mail address that I have no access to. I searched Yahoo's help pages to find customer support is only available for a paid $12.99 / month subscription. No e-mail customer support contact was available. I'd like to retain this e-mail account and would like to change the recovery e-mail address in order to receive any required verification codes. I have my Yahoo account userID and password. I should not have to pay to access this account. I would like customer support to contact me to rectify this situation.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********.  A member of the Yahoo Concierge Team left me a voice mail on May 13, 2025.  I returned that call on May 13 and had to leave a voice mail.  I called again on May 14 and May 15 leaving voice mails for a call back.  No one ever picked up when I called and there was no option to hold for the next available agent.  Finally, at 8:30 pm May 15 I received a call from ***** who quickly replaced my recovery e-mail address.  I find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I am submitting a formal complaint regarding Yahoo Mail's account recovery policies, which I believe to be an unfair and predatory practice. Yahoo is requiring me to pay for their premium customer support service in order to regain access to my email account, essentially placing a financial barrier on account recovery.Additionally, Yahoo refuses to allow me to update my phone number, which is necessary for authentication and account security. My current phone number is outdated and no longer in my possession, leaving me completely locked out of my account and unable to access critical, personal and professional emails.I believe this practice is unreasonable and forces users into unnecessary financial obligations, violating fair business standards. I would appreciate any assistance from the BBB in addressing this issue with Yahoo.Thank you for your time.

Was locked out of my email account. Upon trying to reset my password it sent a code to the recovery phone number on file, and asked me to open the yahoo app that i am currently locked out of to confirm that i am the owner of the account. Problem is, the reason im calling is because i cant access the account, so how am i to confirm in the app if i cant get into the app. Now Yahoo! wants me to become a premium subscriber in order to unlock my account, which includes providing my divers license number which i am not comfortable sharing. It wasnt required when i signed up for the account, so why would it be required to verify the account. I havent forgotten my password, i have it written down in two different places. And i also have the phone number currently on file for recovery purposes. No reason i should not be able to easily reset my password or gain access to my account.

I have been locked out of my email for a week. I called immediately and was told I had to pay a $4.99 upgraded monthly fee in order to unlock my account or wait 24 hours it says on website 12 hours by the way. Ive waited 24 hours for the account to reset over and over for an entire week. Ive verified with WhatsApp and phone number only not old college email. One or the other is supposed to unlock not both. Without them unlocking it, I will never recover my email of 40 yrs. I will not be blackmailed into a $4.99 monthly service !!! Im on limited income and disabled. Shame on yahoo.

I suddenly lost access to my Yahoo account. I tried my password but they keep telling me it's wrong even though I know it's right. I tried to forget password, they sent a code to my phone and then sent another code to my email but I have no access to the email that's currently connected to it. Now they want me to pay just to recover my yahoo email? This email is connected to all my accounts and need access to it asap.I don't understand why I have to pay for this. This is shady business practice.

Yahoo mail is trying to extort me and millions of others for money because I didnt have an updated phone number from forever ago my account. They are telling me they can allow me access to my email my changing my old phone number to my new number, but they want $$4.99-12.99 monthly to have access to their premium customer support they will not allow me to use my email even though I have my correct password and I also have an alternate gmail email account linked to it. They will not allow me to use either of them to access my account. They only want me to give them an access code they are sending to a phone number that is no longer in use. This is extortion because they are going broke, Im assuming.
