Not really sure what to do. Yahoo has disabled the use of security questions to access emails in order to further increase the likelihood that you will attempt to contact the (Paid) customer service phone ********* attempts to ask you the question, which it does prompt when you are incorrect, but if you are correct, it then takes you to a page where it tells you that your only option is to pay them a monthly fee which covers their premium customer care to get your account back.I understand they are running a business, but what is the point of setting up security questions if they don't matter?I really do need access to my other email for personal medical reasons and I can't afford these costs.Business Response

Yahoo is now charging users 12 to speak with customer service when you need assistance accessing your account because youve forgotten the password and no longer have the number. It is completely frustrating trying to get assistance when the self serving tool doesnt workBusiness Response

Yahoo provides a service that allows people to comment on articles they publish. That service has restrictions on what can be said called "Community Guidelines". ALL my comments are being rejected, although the meet the guidelines. As an experiment I made a one-word comment. That word was "hello". It was rejected. See attached screen print.Business Response

Complaint: 22921472
I am rejecting this response because:I have never submitted a comment that violated the community guidelines. I ensure to the best of my ability that the guidelines are met. If Yahoo has a problem with my comments, then it is their problem due to the poor programming of the algorithm that evaluates the comments. My comments are always respectful, polite and factual.
Yahoo cannot show me one instance of when comments that I have made did not meet their community guidelines. If I am wrong, then have them provide said proof. Proof is not repeating the statement and saying it violated the guidelines. Proof is the actual guideline I violated and what part of my comment failed to meet that criterion. Otherwise, they should be required to undo my status and rewrite the algorithm to be more flexible and accurate.
I have used the same comments on AOL. They passed AOL guidelines. Yahoo is the problem not me or my comments.
Sincerely,
***** **********Business Response

Complaint: 22921472I am rejecting this response because:
The 2nd response is a copy of the first response. Again, I have never violated the "community guidelines" and the problem resides with Yahoo. Neither the 1st nor the 2nd responses address my complaint about the poorly written algorithm or implement actions to correct the code. Yahoo has yet to provide a response that intelligibly addresses my complaint.
Yahoo appears for now to have restored my commenter rights. Twice I have had to file a BBB complaint to get action. All my attempts to contact Yahoo directly were ignored. That needs to be corrected.
But with that poorly written code that screens comments, it will occur again. To close this complaint, the BBB should get a commitment from Yahoo to correct that algorithm.
Failure Examples:
I referenced New York Penal Law ****** in a comment. It was rejected. Remove the word penal it is accepted.I cut and pasted from a yahoo article In July 2023, Judge ****** said that the verdict found that ***** had raped ******* according to the common definition of the word, i.e. not necessarily implying penile penetration. It was rejected, even though it was published in the article for all to read.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:It does not resolve my issue. Yahoo provided an open-ended vague response that leaves me hanging. The correct response should have been, Yahoo removed the restriction on consumer and is taking steps to correct the algorithm that evaluates comments content. The removal of the restrictions will be immediate and the algorithm will be improved in the next 30 days. Yahoo extends our apologies to the consumer for all the unnecessary hassles we caused him. Yahoo will strive to be more contactable, flexible, responsive and listen to what its users want.

I was locked out of my Yahoo mail account, out of the blue, and keeps saying log in with a previous device (which they all are, PC, PHONE, LAPTOP, APP...) and only redirected to a site that was stating, in order to gain access back to my email, I would have to pay for a "premium subscription". I have had the same email address for over 20 years and whenever I ask, "why would I need to pay for assistance with my login", they either hang up, become extremely frustrated or tell me to just pay the money if I want access back to my emails. This email has my lease agreement, that I cannot digitally sign because I cannot access it, along with other information. I AM BEING SCAMMED!!!! I have the right login credentials but have had to call 3 different numbers all claiming to be "a paid premium service for yahoo mail access recovery". I need someone to contact me ASAP, so that MY HOME IS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS SCAMBusiness Response

The online Yahoo support service does not help me in addressing my issue. For some reason, Canada does not have a dedicated support line and the articles given do not answer my question. It is upsetting that the American Yahoo support service also cannot help me due to my email being Canadian. It is a support system based on not helping users and it makes it as difficult as possible to access help. Shocking that a company with this many users does not have a dedicated support line in ****** and relies strictly on basic articles that only help so much.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:They admit that they scraped the password away and all security questions from the account, and instead ask for private personal information such as taking a picture of an ID.
I have every single information about the account and can even name other emails associated with it,yet they want private personal information that I never agreed to giving, especially since I do not put my real name as the account exactly because of these intrusive business practices

I am writing to file a complaint against Yahoo Mail regarding their email services. I have been a loyal user of ********************** email for the past 10 to 15 years. Recently, I have found myself locked out of my email account, and despite knowing my password and the recovery number (no longer have access to number), Yahoo's system continues to deny me access. The email is ************************************ and I know the recover phone number but no longer have access to this number. The recovery process demands I input my name, which I am confident I am entering correctly, yet it still claims the name is incorrect. As a result, Yahoo is essentially coercing me into subscribing to a paid service for assistance, which I find to be an unfair and unethical business practice.I firmly believe that a company of Yahoo's stature should provide free and efficient assistance to users who have been long-term customers. Their current approach to customer support leaves much to be desired and certainly does not reflect well on their commitment to user satisfaction.I would appreciate any assistance the Better Business Bureau can provide in addressing this issue. Thank you for your time.Business Response

I am unable to change my Yahoo! Canada email account settings while I can still access my emails via email applications on my phone and my computer. When accessing the account via a web browser (the only way to change account settings), I am asked to provide a code that Yahoo! apparently sends to my recovery email address. However, no emails from Yahoo! with a confirmation code are being received.I phoned the 800-number listed on ************************** Help page, but I was told that they did not support Canadian accounts (i.e., @*************************************************** and advised me to check recovery instructions on Yahoo! Canada Help page. Doing so was fruitless too - the only option I was given is to create a new account. Note: ********************** Canada does not offer phone or email support contacts for its Canadian ************ summarize:1. I know my current password to @************************* email account.2. I know my recovery email and have access to it.3. I can send emails between my Yahoo! account and the recovery email account without issues.4. I can access my email via email client applications on my phone and my computer. However, Yahoo! is not allowing me to access my account settings or configure new devices with email clients with access to my account. Their only solution seems to be creating a new account and abandoning my existing account.I would like to request assistance of BBB and Yahoo! *** to fully recover my email account.Business Response
