Called three times.. Received no help. Had this email for over 20 years and never had an issue recovering the password. Received this message "We can't recover your account online because there are no other options on file for your account.". I have two step verification on and have access to the back up email as well as the phone, neither allowed me to change my password. The customer service phone number provided was a generic help desk that does not actually have access to do anything. I mentioned that there was medical information that I need access to in that account and they still can do nothing. How is that possible.. This account was made so long ago and I have been loyal to yahoo, but with no help and no kind of work arounds for this problem, it is ridiculous. I will be filing complaints and speaking to whoever I can because there is no way that I can be without that information. I even asked to pay for support but all three said that even with paying, they would not be able to help me. I will take this as high as I need to go because that information is essential in there. Horrible customer service and what a horrible way to handle password changes.

Under Yahoo's current leadership, it has morphed into a criminal enterprise operating an extortion racket. Like all the other reviewers here, I have had a Yahoo email account for about ************************************************************* order to get a verification code for another useless account, and was told with no explanation: "We can't sign you in on this device, please try the one you usually use." I have a STATIC IP address which has not changed since 2020, so this is already false information - I have never used another device to sign into the account in that time period.Contacting Yahoo customer support, they demanded personally identifiable information despite the fact that no personally identifiable information was ever associated to the account. They asked for my full name and phone number which were never associated to the account, supposedly in order to verify my ownership of it. They then told me that they can only help me if I purchase a paid support subscription and provide them with my personal information. In sum, my ancient email account was locked for no conceivable reason, under false pretenses, with no recourse except to pay them money. Many reviewers here and elsewhere on the internet have indicated that paying for their support plan did not even resolve the issue. The only conclusion to derive from this is that Yahoo is a criminal enterprise operating an extortion racket, demanding money in exchange for access to legacy email accounts that everyone had decades ago and needs to use for certain verification codes and the like.

If I could give a zero I would. My phone number recently changed (of no fault of my own) and yahoo wants to verify my identity using my old number that I dont have access to. I explained this to the unhelpful representative and they told me that for them to help me I would have to pay for a subscription. I asked for the supervisor they told me the same thing. I asked for another supervisor and they hung up on me. My email is attached to my business. I shouldnt have to pay for help updating my phone number when the site doesnt allow for self trouble shooting options. Im livid.

Yahoo is withholding access to my email and will not let me change my password without paying them a "premium" fee. This should be illegal. That is MY mail. They have absolutely no right to **** me from reseting my own password without forking over money to them.

Got locked out of my email account I've had for over 20 years. Contacted customer support, after sending pictures of my drivers license they tell me they can reset the password but I have to pay ***** a month for their premium service. Being extorted by a company for my own emails. Ridiculous.

The fact that I know my username and password to my email address for over 20 years but yahoo is requiring me to pay money just to verify its me even though I know the password and all details of the account is unacceptable. This is a scam, and I dont know how this can be legal. I cant believe such a large company would attempt a money grab like this. Please discontinue use of yahoo immediately so you do t go through this. Holding someones email hostage for a monthly subscription is shameful.

I have had an email account with ********************** for at least 10 years. I have now been locked out of my Yahoo account. This is mu main email account used for medical, education, employment and a lot more important point of contact. As of two months ago I was unable to access my yahoo mail on my desktop. My Yahoo account is also linked to my cell phones main email account, so I could still access the account through that device. As of today I tried to send a email and it would not send, but was told the email was queued. I logged out and then was unable to log back. I am receiving the message "uh oh looks like we can't get you in your account on this device, try logging in on the device you most use. I only have two devices a desktop and my cell phone. Desperate to get back in to the account, I researched answers online and found a help phone number. I called the number and was told that I needed to give my personal I.D. number and sign up for a premium help account. I am not willing to pay for help to get back in to my free account and this seems suspect to me. I don't want anyone else to go through this and I also hope that the BBB and government (FTC ) or whoever regulates this kind of entity will do something to help Yahoo users.
