Yahoo is trying to scam users into paying for customer support. I can't get into my account. I keep getting the same "Uh oh" message that so many others are noting. Despite having access to both the recovery phone number and alternate email, my only option is to pay for Yahoo to try to help me. Their 2FA is broken and somehow that is my fault? This seems to be a known issue according to online threads. It's pretty deceptive of Yahoo to not offer support to people impacted by their broken tools. I hate to have to abandon the email account I've used for 20 years, but I think they're purposely trying to drive away account holders.

I cannot get into my account. It says it sends a verification code to my phone number but it does not work. I just used it a few weeks ago (exact same phone number, and I can even see it ends in the last 2 digits in the preview) but no code is coming. Tested my phone with another app that requests for 2FA, works fine. I have tried support but to no avail.

Yahoo has locked me out of my account. I am using my normal password and it still gives me an "uh oh" message. There is no free support available, you have to pay for assistance. According to multiple reviews here, reddit, etc, even the paid support is unhelpful. Lately, there have been multiple complaints about yahoo on the world wide web, esp in the last 1-2 months. Yahoo needs to be investigated immediately!

Support for this user issue is available through our main phone support and it requires a paid subscription. Non-paid support is handled through our online help pages.

I have had my aol emails since the early 90's, we subscribed to their dialup for years. Yesterday they decided to require a code to be sent to an alternate email they have, but that email is also with aol. To access that email I had the same issue and it's being sent to the initial email I can not get in to. An AOL email death loop. I thought this feature was to protect my account from hackers to recover my account, but they essentially used it to add a paywall. I called them and after 30 over minutes of verifying it was me (which it seemed like they were dragging on on purpose) they concluded the only way they would fix it is for a $30 a month subscription.

So there you have it, they added a requirement for both accounts at the same time to have the code sent to the other and to fix it they are extorting me.

Just like that my emails are gone, luckily I was not using them for much due to other much better email services, but there were a few things that I wish I could recover.

      Criminals.

I have been trying to delete my personal information from Yahoo but they refuse to let me. All my info is being blocked/****** out and they will not answer the phone unless you pay them. I do not want my phone number or e-mail address or birth date anywhere on Yahoo after seeing how they allow some comments and yet delete others that are exactly the same. I do not feel safe with Yahoo managing my personal information anymore and want my account closed. The problem is I never signed in using an e-mail address so they refuse to verify my identity to delete my account even though I am signed in. If I cannot remove it soon I will contact the attorney general in New York to see if this is all legal.

**** Yahoo email account has been blocked. I am not able to log-in at all! **** required a 2 Step authentication process and I do not currently have a mobile (or land line) for them to text a code to; I only have an Email account - and have not been able to access it for to two (2) days now. It's my only mode of communication at this time. I've used the Chat feature to no avail - just more instructions on the 2 steps to follow - And now I'm not even getting that. I've had this email account for over 20 years and had been accessing without issues every day until yesterday, Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Why do they need a mobile phone number to authenticate an account? It's been mine for over 20 years and I've used it everyday from the time I've had it.

This should be illegal. I mean if someone tampers with your mail its illegal what's the difference with your email? Yahoo don't even abide by their own terms and conditions, but they expect you to and even when you do, they still have their non-English-speaking representatives talk circles to you and pretend there is no manager available. Now they are nothing but crooks looking to make money on anyone that uses them for a free email. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially in the times society is in. It states in your own terms not to forget your password because if you do and can't access your recovery number then your screwed unless you pay. Ok well I don't forget my passwords, so this was not a concern to me. What yahoo fails to say is that even if you know your password, we will find a way to still charge you by holding your email mail from you. I had a yahoo email and that was a big mistake, One day like any other day I signed in or so I thought. I know my password and I used the same device as always...nothing suspicious about that right???!! Except now they want to really make sure it's me...WTF is that isn't that what using the same device and not forgetting your password is all about...NOPE now they want ***** from ne to get me into my yahoo email when I did nothing but what I was supposed to do..Which is use the same device and I did not forget my password. So why in the h*** would I have to pay ***** for???? The recovery number you make us enter is only for added security if we have a new device or forget our password at least that's what you tell us. Or lead us into believing. I want to let everyone know when the economy and the world is as bad as it is today DONT USE YAHOO BECAUSE WHEN TIMES ARE HARD, THEY KEEP YOUR EMAILS FROM YOU AND TRY TO GET MONEY FROM YOU. If I did this it would be called fraud and yahoo should be held accountable. The man who identified as manger his way of handling this was to hang up. Great customer service

Yahoo continuously asks users to update their recovery information on file. In order to keep accounts secure, we will periodically ask for additional verification or updated information and it is up to the user to update the recovery information with current and accurate information. Yahoo offers free email but Support for not keeping your information current or technical issues are only offered via paid support.

What good does it do to post a crappy review? No one cares or calls you back. I was FORCED to wait for over 2 hours to get into my account - MY account, not *********************** account...MY account. it took me awhile to contact customer support, but once I did rep did not do a flipping thing to help me retrieve it. If you don't want to or can't do your job, get the f**k out already.
