I have this medical supply place sending a bill for $104 plus a $25 late fee and I've called several time to find out what for. No answer and no returned calls. I was on hold for 2 1/2 hours today until the line went dead. I was caller 81 and it got to 66 then went to 68. Uh how is the next caller get higher??I dont even know what the bill is for as the invoice is very generic but adding the late fee. Im not sure if this company is scamming elderly but I cant in all good conscience pay this without more information. I have not received any medical equipment. My son received treatment for an orthopedic issue on 5/16/2024. I DID NOT receive any invoices from Pacific Medical in relationship to this treatment. Subsequently, we received a letter dated 7/8/2024 from Pacific Medical addressed to my son (a minor). This letter indicated that his account was "seriously delinquent" and no longer considered in good standing. It demanded that we call the patient accounts department immediately and make payment, and assessed a $25 late fee, in addition to the balance due of $73.72. However, the letter did not provide any information about the service provided or any detail about the charges received. I called the *************************** using the phone number provided in the letter, and was placed on hold for over an hour, at which time the phone system abruptly switched to a recording telling me to leave a message, and then the call disconnected. I tried to call back but the call went to a voicemail box. Based on the number of complaints registered for this company within the last few months reporting exactly this same behavior I believe this company is practicing fraudulent billing practices.Business Response

We received a letter from Pacific Medical, Inc. referencing account #********, balance due of $67.14 in addition to a $25 late fee with a date of service of 2/7/24. I have no idea what this is for, we have not received a letter from this business requesting payment in the past. It states:Dear ****,Your account is seriously delinquent and no longer considered to be in "good standing". To restore your account, you must call our *************************** at ************** immediately and make arrangements for payment.I called and there were 75 callers ahead of answering mine. Business has sent me multiple bills in the amount of $15.61, with no explanation as to what I am being charged for. The website they direct you to looks like a scam, and the payment portal asks for information that was never volunteered with me (Patient ID). Regardless of what you input for this field, it then takes you to a payment amount screen where you fill out the amount, and the process does not disclose what you are paying for at any point or outline any outstanding balances.Business Response

I have received 3 bills from Pacific Medical **** with an original invoice date of 03/26/2024. I have tried to call the company and left voicemails, but I have not heard back from Pacific Medical regarding this bill. The bill says I owe them $82.04 for a SHLDR IMMOD/SLING W? WEB STRAP ***** The third bill states I have been charged an additional $25 for a late fee and states they will send the bill to collections. I have spoken to all the medical providers I have seen this calendar year, and I do not have outstanding balances with any of my providers. I did not purchase a shoulder sling this year that would need additional billing. I need confirmation that this business is legit and support navigating this bill. This company sends bills without any explanation of what they're for and then makes it impossible to make payments over the phone or online. When you call, there's no answer or return call. When you try to pay online, you have to enter a Patient ID number that isn't provided in the letters they send -- the letters include an Account number that doesn't work as a Patient ID so you're stuck and unable to make an online payment. I just received a letter from them saying my payment is seriously overdue and an additional $25 fee is being added to my balance. My balance for what?! And how can I possibly pay this balance if they won't answer the phone or accept online payments? How can I even trust they're not some scammer trying to steal my credit card information? A legit business would have billing people answering the phones and would have an online payment system that actually works.Business Response

I received a bill from Pacific Medical that provided no details or itemizationonly a total amount due. I promptly contacted the company multiple times requesting a detailed breakdown of the charges. However, each representative I spoke with was unable to provide any information about what the charges were for.Despite my repeated requests for an itemized receipt, I received no clarification or documentation. Instead, I was subsequently charged a late fee for the unpaid bill, which I found to be completely unjustified given the circumstances. I still have not received an itemized statement explaining the original charges or the reason for the late fee.This lack of transparency and customer service is unacceptable.
