  Had a great experience on a VA Refinance with the PennyMac team. The great follow up and communication made the process pretty much stress free. Even when the appraisal was lower than initially expected, the team came back with multiple options and helped make the right decision for my family.

  They incorrectly took a double payment due to a site glitch and I was told on Thursday it was reversed and would take a day. It’s Monday and I still do not have my money back. I have talked to many clueless reps and all of them could not of cared less a family of 4 was completely cleaned out by their error. I am now told ‘in a couple hours’ they can wire the money, why wait a couple hours? Knowing I do not have a dime to feed my family and also knowing they LIED and told me it was already reversed. Pennymac is not to be trusted with a stick of gum let alone your bank information.

  Have used PennyMac for three mortgages to this point. Good service, easy to use platform, straightforward. No surprises. Would use them again without hesitation. Treated me like a valued customer throughout the entire process.

  This company purchased our Mortgage from the original lender with an escrow account in place. I contacted them on 6/16/23 to coordinate the renewal of the Flood Insurance policy that was due on 7/20 with a bill of $536. I received no assistance or response until I started receiving nasty emails stating my policy had expired and they were going to purchase from another company for quadruple the cost of my existing policy and bill me for the inflated expense. After sending numerous emails attempting to get support, I ended up paying for the policy directly to avoid PennyMac purchasing an inflated policy and billing me for it.
  I was just told they send the $536 payment on 8/4 to the insurance company, after I've already provided my receipt, uploaded the Declarations from the renewal, and asked multiple times about getting reimbursed for the premium I paid directly since this company failed to meet their responsibility on the escrow account.
  The lack of customer service is appalling and the fact that this mortgage company doesn't seem to understand how an escrow account works is very concerning. As a responsible human, I am fully capable of paying my own property taxes and hazard insurance, yet they require an escrow account for flood insurance only. And yet I still had to pay the bill directly to avoid PennyMac acting as big brother to "purchase on my behalf" some ridiculously expensive plan rather than simply do their job right the first time.
  Find another lender. If I could give zero stars, that would be the rating for this incompetent company.

  PENNYMAC SENDS 5000 EMAILS AND CORRESPONDENSE A DAY TO ME SAYING ACCESS THE MONEY IN YOUR HOME. WHICH IS WELL OVER 225,000. I APPLY FOR A 100,000 LOAN WITH MY HUSBAND AND WE ARE DENIED. I OWE 75,000 ON MY HOME AND IT APPRAISES FOR 321,000. THE HOME IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD. WE HAVE GOOD CREDIT. MY HUSBAND IS SELF EMPLOYED SO HIS INCOME. HOWEVER, I HAVE GOOD INCOME AND WE BOTH HAVE GOOD CREDIT.

  I am leaving 0 stars. You couldn't pay me to use them again. Absolutely awful awful awful experience. We tried to refinance with them and we also submitted an insurance claim from a dilapidated barn. The refinance was a joke. We were originally approved for it but then told because our property was so large they couldn't approve it. This was after a 2 month process of working on the refinance. Then came the barn. It has been almost a year and they have still not paid out the claim. It is a joke every time I call . The will tell me the funds are being released and then nothing comes. The next time I call they tell me I am missing another document. They required my contractor call them directly so they did and then they wouldn't talk to them because it wasn't me. They required an inspection of the concrete poured for beneath our new building. When the inspector, hired by penny mac, saw the concrete she immediately told me that she didn't inspect concrete so she had no idea why they even asked her to do that on this job. No one knows what they are doing when you call and they all tell you something different about their requirements each time. The contractor is about to send me to a creditor because Penny Mac refuses to release my insurance claim funds that I pay for every month, It is not their money it is my money. I have asked several times to talk to a manager or supervisor but no one calls and no one cares.

  Great experience with refinancing our home. Everyone we worked with was courteous and professional. The refinance process was quick and they made sure we understood every step. If we had questions, they were quick to respond. I would not hesitate to recommend PennyMac for your mortgage loan needs.
