      The business, a medical debt collection agency, ruined my previously exemplary credit rating by erroneously filing a collection against me with the three major credit reporting agencies for an unpaid $680 emergency room debt incurred by somebody who spells their name differently and has a different date of birth. When I disputed the collection with the credit agencies, Wakefield insisted that its collection was correct. When I disputed the debt directly with Wakefield over the phone and in writing and requested a validation letter with proof of the debt, attaching a copy of my driver's license showing the correct spelling of my name and date of birth, I was ignored

      In 2021, my son had to utilize the services of EMS paramedics in ***********, **. Upon use of services, the bill from *** was sent to an invalid address and I never received the bill for services and no attempts were made from *** paramedics to advise of the outstanding balance due. My sons account was then given to Wakefield associates to collect the debt. In July 2024 I made contact with Wakefield in which they notified me of the debt owed. I called EMS paramedics to validate the debt, and they confirmed the bill was returned as undeliverable due to a bad address. Upon validation of the outstanding balance, I paid the balance in full on 7/15/24 with EMS paramedics, however despite a successful payment and multiple attempts to notify Wakefield and associates they consistently still call to collect the balance. I have notified Wakefield verbally during every collection attempt interaction the debt has been paid in full, through writing via email at ****************** on 8/29 and 10/28, and the original company *** paramedics spoke with Wakefield and associates directly confirming my account was paid in full and to stop collection efforts yet they still repeatedly call me requesting payment for a debt that I have paid, despite the proof provided. Each interaction they say they will review yet my attempts to validate the account as paid is going unnoticed. I provided a copy of the email sent to Wakefield and associates confirming the original bill provided from EMS logistics, confirmation of payment made directly to EMS logistics, and an email directly from *** confirming my account has been paid in full. Update your records.

      I have never been in medical debt in my entire life. I havent been to any doctors or hospitals for myself since I lost my insurance almost a decade ago. All of my medical expenses have been covered by insurance. Im actually not in any debt of any kind, I never have been, and dont even have a credit score. Recently, in just the last couple of days, this debt collector has been calling and texting me and sending me links, trying to get me to pay a debt that isnt even mine. If this continues Im filing complaints about them with the *** and *** as well, as this is blatant fraud and a definite scam. Honestly, I would highly recommend auditing this company, they are known to be incredibly shady with predatory practices. I am not the only one experiencing harassment from them.

      I am writing to file a complaint against Wakefield & Associates regarding their debt collection practices. Since July 29, 2024, I have been receiving daily phone calls and voicemails from them. Each communication has only stated, "This is an attempt to collect a debt," without providing any additional information.I have never received any written correspondence at any of my previous addresses, all of which are family members' houses. Today, September 13, 2024, I contacted Wakefield & Associates to request more information about the debt they claim I owe.During the call, I was verified and informed that I allegedly owe them two debts totaling over $300. They mentioned that one of the debts is 11 years old and purportedly originated from a hospital in **************. Despite my request, they refused to email me any documentation or a breakdown of the debts. They stated, "We do not email or send that out" and instead pressured me to pay immediately to receive a discount, threatening that the offer would expire if I delayed.I believe these practices are unethical and potentially illegal. I am seeking assistance from the BBB to address these concerns and ensure that Wakefield & Associates adheres to fair debt collection practices.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

      MERIDIAN ******** does not allow bills like this to be put.on their members it is a state run ******** system and they have responded multiple times about these so called bills and have stated they have paid for those services because we have full coverage state ******** we are not responsible for errant bills made by companies that did not bill them properly. This is solely between the ****** and meridian ********. ******** ***** does not have financial responsibility for these charges. The ****** is responsible for proper billing of the insurance it is not the patients responsibility to fix their billing issues they should have bill properly the numerous times long before wakefield bought that medical debt or whatever they did to acquire it. It is not our debt anymore we have no contract to pay anything to wakefield and Associates in the first place.

      Hello. Thank you for taking the time to look at my issue.I received a collections notification for a bill/service I have never heard of. I live in **** and have never executed a transaction in ********* or ********* **. Everything about this reads as fraudulent, including when I look the company up and see how many complaints exist against them. Such a shame that companies can just put your name and address on a collections notification and send it out. This letter is so fradulent and such an obvious scam that it doesn't even reference a Date of Service it just says 00/00/00. I have ZERO outstanding bills and/or collections. I show no outstanding debt for this service. I have never been in collections. This company needs to cease and desist. I am submitting this complaint so there is a record. I want them to take me out of their system. I have included a copy of the letter for your reference. If there is anything you can do to help me get this company to delete me and any record of me from their system I would greatly appreciate.Thanks for taking the time to listen.       This company keeps contacting me about a person by the name of ****** ******* .. I do not know this person and if you look my last name is spelled completely different I don't know how they got my phone number or how they are associating me with him but I want it to stop it's now becoming harassment they are texting me and calling me and I don't know this person. Maybe they need to look in the obituaries of where this person live to see if this person is even still alive before they just go contacting anybody and everybody and the people who are contacting me are foreign and you cannot understand a word they say hardly.
