They are violating FEDERAL LAWS and everyone that gets letters from them need to look at them and report them. Normal mail had my Name, Address, Phone number, DOB and FULL SOCIAL SECURITY number on it. Even if sent registered mail that is illegal since 2017. ******* search OIG hotline to report).

Called to as a provider's office to verify information, called the number we were provided and allegedly called the wrong department, was transferred then 2 times to have the last *** hang up before completing the transaction I call back, another *** answers and does not even greet himself I had to ask "Is this Wakefield and Associates" and ****** finally gave me the introduction. He asks for the account number and the line disconnected.I call back again, a lady answers, gives her introduction and we go back and forth for 5 minutes trying to understand how to file a complaint.

I was called concerning a medical debt of $10,000 that is saying i owe Novant Health. I needed confirmation on the actual bill so that i can let my insurance take care of it. The person called me after 1700 and would not provide the information. I was never made aware that my bill was sold off to a third party.

As others are reporting here, i too had a debt appear from Wakefield and Associates out of nowhere. The item decreased my credit score by nearly 100 points on both Equifax and Experian! I immediately disputed it with Experian and Equifax within 5 minutes of the item appearing on my report. I have a perfect payment record for over 10 years, and I am furious that I can be blindsided in this manner. This item is showing as "in collections", and "30 days past due", ************ is attempting to collect on an item that was originally disputed through *********** in February by previous collections agency. That item appeared on TransUnion, and I disputed that one as soon as it appeared. It was promptly removed in less than 30 days. There is no reason I am dealing with this again just because these agencies "buy" other companies files and attempt to collect on them. It should not be coming back around under a "new owner".

I called Wakefield this morning to discuss a collection letter my husband received. The amount they are billing for has already been settled. It is a medical bill. I spoke with the medical facility before calling Wakefield. They gentleman from Wakefield stated my husband had 3 accounts in collections. All 3 are paid in full with the medical facility. I told him that and his tone immediately changed. He became very hateful with his words. He stated that I was wrong and that we would need to send in proof of a zero balance. I said I would work on that and get it in to them. I said "Thank you for your help. Have a great day." The gentleman then stated "Wait. You have money owed to us, too." Excuse me? How? For one thing, I only told you my first name. Did you look up my phone number while we were discussing my husband's letter? Secondly, I don't owe any money. I asked what for and he said he couldn't tell me and he would need to verify my full name and information. Nope. I promptly hung up. I immediately checked my credit report and there is nothing on there from Wakefield. Be vigilant. Do your research before you just pay these people.

This company is awful. I received texts from them not long ago from a hospital bill I didn't even know I had. I had asked them through their messaging thing online to send it back to the hospital and I would take care of it since the amount I was trying to pay to them they wouldn't accept! They wouldn't accept anything under $150. You would think they would want some type of money right? I guess not. I have been through their message portal plenty of times saying to allow me to set up a payment plan for something I can pay and I couldn't pay whay they were asking at this time. I never received a response back. Then of course I check my credit and they add it on their when I've been trying to work with them. This company just smells like a lawsuit according to all of the reviews and mine. How are you going to deny someone trying to pay and then report them!? This is absolutely ridiculous and this company 100% needs to get looked into with their horrible greedy practices.

Wakefield @associates did not verify my debt and just put it on my credit.. They have been giving me all sorts of run arounds and saying different things when I call I have all my calls recorded. They told me to speak to compliance department, so I ask to speak to them then they said they can not transfer me to them. I ask to speak to a manager and they leave the line come back and pretend to be the manager.

Wakefield and Associates placed a debt into collections on my account 06/03/24 For a total of $610.00. I was only recently made aware of this when I looked my credit score up this month. For something they said was back in 11/20/23?! I have no knowledge of the creditor company. Looking online says its a known scam company. I never received anything about owing anyone money. Nor have I ever owed/ paid them any money. Wakefield and Associates is trying to scam money from me.

Some from Wakefield and Associates called me a few weeks ago. They claimed to be trying to collect a debit I owned for Medical bills to a doctor that I've never heard of. I told them they had the wrong person and I had never been to the doctor they mentioned. Then they started trying to get me to give them my personal information, which I refused to do. I asked them to stop calling me because I don't have anything is unpaid or delinquent anywhere and I've never heard of the doctor they mentioned. They got sort of nasty with me and continued to ask for my personal information until I hung up on them. They called again a day or so later and ended up blocked their phone number. Since then, they have tried calling me from several different phone numbers, which I continue to block. I have reported them. They are a scam company.

Too bad we can't give this company a zero or no stars, they are not even worthy of 1 star. I was in an accident in 2021, got airlifted, even when I said no, my insurance paid $19000 of the $69000 RIDICULOUS BILL, it was a 15 minute flight. They have been harassing me, calling my mom, sending texts, threatening me. Last call we got was "this can go 2 ways, you pay it or we will come take it", not sure who the a****** was that called, but that is not how you speak to someone, especially a senior citizen who has nothing to do with it. I have heard nothing but shady about these people, they wanted me to take a loan against my house, cash out my 401K, this is completely ridiculous, my out of pocket on my insurance is $10000. What is the point of having insurance, what is the point of saying NO, when they are going to do what they want anyways. Companies like this should not be allowed to operate.
