I am a retired doctor and not working anywhere. I requested Healthgrades to remove my profile many times. Each time they reply with reckless answer. Extreme headstrong replies. I am a physician and I contacted Healthgrades almost 2 weeks ago on 2/24/23 to complain about a fraudulent and libelous review left about me on their website on 1/25/23. There is no phone number listed anywhere on their website and all phone numbers listed for Healthgrades under public records do not work, so there is no way anyone can call them and discuss anything with a real person. So I was basically stuck using their online complaint form, which I submitted. I even included substantial attachments containing documentation and proof that the review posted about me was made up of 100% lies and fabrications. A week went by with no response, so I sent a follow-up email to their support team on 3/6/23 and again I got no response. In the meantime, the fraudulent review in question remains posted publicly on their website tarnishing my reputation for no reason. I am at my **** end about this and I am considering legal action if this doesnt get resolved soon.Business Response

Hello ***************************************,
Thank you for contacting Healthgrades regarding your patient experience survey(s). Per your request, we have opened an examination regarding this.Healthgrades strives to maintain the quality of patient surveys by confirming each patient's email address, along with other best practices, such as restricting the number of surveys a patient can complete within a given time frame and the number of surveys coming from the same location. Healthgrades employs a consistent, reliable process to review for possible fraudulent survey results.

Healthgrades allows malicious false abusive reviews and never responds via email or by phone to request removing such misinformation. Patients are allowed to post slanderous abusive false misleading posts with a grudge. Healthgrades does not verify any information before allowing such reviews. A review on 02/02/23 by a poster is making accusations that I treat patients with radiation treatment where as Im a medical oncologist and has no role in it and healthgrades lets it post without any verification. The poster has never met me in person nor has been in my office, continues to make misleading claims about stage, prognosis and yet allowed to post this review. this poster had previously posted the exact review on webmd on 10/28/2022 and 08/16/22 and it was removed after finding it to be false and misleading.Business Response

You contacted Healthgrades regarding a concern you had about a review received by Healthgrades. As a result of your inquiry, Healthgrades launched an examination into the profile and analyzed all reviews submitted through our website. During our process it was discovered that ( 1 ) comment (opinion) was suppressed during a flagged audit.
This comment has been removed and is no longer on your profile. The star remains. When a comment is removed because the comment violates our Editorial Policy due to comment content, the star rating remains. The star rating is part of a multiple-choice survey and would still be valid. I am a physician in ***********. I recently saw a patient referred to my office by a local government agency to evaluate the validity of a patient's worker's compensation claim. Another independent doctor also reviewed the patient's claim. The patient's claim for worker's compensation was not valid. The patient became angry and, out of spite, posted a negative, slanderous evaluation of both doctors on the Healthgrades website. Both posts were placed on the same date. I have repeatedly petitioned Healthgrades by email to contact me so I can provide proof that the patient's claims are false and slanderous. However, Healthgrades will not personally contact me. All I can get from them is an email that the post does not violate their standards.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Healthgrades has made no attempt to reach out to me to discuss why I feel a particular post made about me on their platform is false and slanderous. All they have done is look at the post and determine that "it meets their criteria for display." Healthgrades could not care less if the posting about a doctor is valid or if it is false, created out of spite and slanderous. Healthgrades made no attempt to review the evidence that proves the post made against me is false and made out of spite to negatively affect me in a professional manner.
I respectfully request that the BBB help me clear up this mess.
Thank you,

On July 16, 2022 I posted a negative review on HealthGrades website at ******************************************************************** I did not have an account at that time with HealthGrades. I have emailed ********************************** multiple times to remove the review I left for ***********************, MD . I have received email confirmation of receipt for some but not all emails I sent. I provided all 3 of the possible emails that I may have used (as condition of the positing) when I wrote the review. Still, it has not been removed. I have even provided my full name and contact information but no one has reached out to me. I flagged the review and it disappeared for a day but then appeared again with no option to flag it any longer. I called 3 numbers available on their website and the BBB website and none work. PLEASE REMOVE the review entitled "Mishap anesthesia. Improperly placed incision". My post is authored as "*** Jul 16, 2022". Even my daughter emailed a request on my behalf to HealthGrades requesting its removal to no avail. I can be reached at ************ or ******************* HealthGrades, please make this right. I left a review on the condition that you would honor your pledge to remove a review if requested by the review's author.Business Response

I am a behavioral healthcare provider who has my profile published on Healthgrades without my permission. On this unauthorized profile page, toward the beginning of my profile is an advertisement for a large corporation that offers behavioral healthcare. Advertising for a corporation that can usurp my business in the middle of my profile negatively impacts my business. In addition, this corporation has received negative publicity for unscrupulous practices and is being investigated by the government. I believe that putting an advertisement for the corporation in the middle of my profile gives the implication that I am endorsing this corporation and thus also impacts my business negatively. I contacted Healthgrades about this issue and was told that "Advertisements on Healthgrades.com rotate on a regular basis, and we cannot choose which ads display on profiles at any set time." However, no matter what time of day, what browser, or what device I look at my profile, the advertisement for Betterhelp is still the one that is there. I was also told that there is no recourse to remove my profile from Healthgrades. I believe that since my profile is on their website without my permission, I have no recourse to remove my profile, and the advertisement they have on my profile page is harmful to my business, Healthgrades is doing business in a unethical and dishonest manner and should either give me the ability to opt out of their directory or ensure that competing businesses are not advertised on my profile page.Since I am unable to remove my profile due to Healthgrades unscrupulous practices, I believe it is unethical for them to do so.Business Response

*******,
Advertising displays are part of every standard profile and not subject to changes. They advertisements are rotated at different cadences and we cannot choose what is displayed on profiles at any given time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that the current company displaying is not a preference.
Healthgrades provides information on healthcare providers as a free service to consumers, patients and other healthcare professionals. In its provision of this service, Healthgrades aggregates information from publicly available sources. Because information regarding healthcare providers practices is publicly available and of interest to the general public, Healthgrades business policies prohibit me from removing any licensed and practicing provider from our website. You have an active license and an active NPI number, which unfortunately does not permit Healthgrades from removing your profile.
Thank you.

Complaint: 19443204
I am rejecting this response because:There response is further evidence of their belief that they do not need to be accountable to anyone for anything because the information they are putting in their directory is from the ***** directory. If this were the case, they would not allow us to update our information when they have it incorrect and they would not let us add to our information. As I explained, they say the advertisements are rotated. However, every time I go to my profile page, no matter what platform or time of day, BetterHelp is the advertisement that is displayed directly at the beginning of my profile. If it actually did rotate and BetterHelp was one out of 20 or 50 ads that showed up it might be different. However, that is not the case. No matter what platform anyone uses or what time of day, if they access my profile on Health Grades, BetterHelp is front and center.
While it says "Advertisement" it looks like part of my profile. So right at the start of my profile is a big red button that says "Find a Therapist". Basically, they are advertising for my competition in my profile and then steering potential clients away from reading my whole profile. The potential client has not even gotten to my experience or the services I offer when they get to this advertisement.
BetterHelp does not have a very good reputation. Having their advertisement right at the beginning of my profile makes it appear that I am endorsing BetterHelp (which also steers potential clients away). Due to their reputation, being associated with BetterHelp only ***** my business.
On many levels having this advertisement for competition at the beginning of my profile is harmful for my business.
I would also like to add that In addition, the regular consumer does not access the ***** information to search for a provider. ***** was created as a way for the government to track medical providers. Health Grades is merely usurping their information and making money off of it.
As I have requested, if they do not want to allow me to remove my profile then they need to not advertise for competition on my profile page. I know of at least 20, and I'm confident there are hundreds more, behavioral health providers that feel as I do. If I need to get all of them to send complaint to their BBB then that is what I will do. I am sure Health Grades is not advertising for surgical centers on the profile pages for surgeons, surgeons have money to *** and most therapists do not. There are hundreds of other types of providers where they can advertise for BetterHelp. They do not need to do it on the pages of behavioral health providers.
Regards,
*************************

I am a physician who has been vocal about and lobbying for patients' right to receive physician-lead care. I recently attended an event when I spoke about the topic and some of the participants who did not agree with my views flocked to healthgrades.com to post fraudulent negative reviews disguised as patients. It's shameful that this company allows anyone to anonymously smear a physician's reputation without any verification of a physician-patient relationship. Anyone with internet connection can post fraudulent information about a medical professional without any recourse, and the company does nothing to stop it. This site is used to silence physicians from speaking against heinous acts committed by corporations to compromise patients' safety and lowering the quality of healthcare. Physicians are afraid to speak up on issues that matter to their patients of fear of destroying their reputation by online ghosts.Business Response
