I'm new to buying a house. This company was introduced to me by a trusted friend so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I so wish I had looked up these reviews before working with these bottom tier builders. First of all, the house was finally "built" about 4 months after it was promised cutting into my kid's school year and completely s******* up all our plans. Not even an apology. They rushed and rushed us to sign on the bottom line then took their sweet time in communicating during the rest of the process. Sometimes they wouldn't respond for weeks. The superintendent of the project changed hands several times which was another red flag. Friends were telling me this always happens in building a home so I looked the other way. The guy we got in the end was...unreliable. He was good about some things but ultimately wouldn't really act until we would force his hand. The contractors he would hire to do things like paint or put in carpet would do a terrible job, stuff I would rather just pay some teenager to do. Also, he was ALWAYS late to appointments, even as much as 45 minutes. Again, no apologies, just excuses. Finally I thought I'd give them a chance to make things right by asking for them to throw in a free water softener. Again, they only complied once we made a lot of noise. To be fair, they did eventually agree, but it took more than it should have. I would give them a half star to add onto my score for that, but I can't. Also, the workers left garbage all over our back and front yards. How do you even think to yourself, "yeah this is fine". Worst company I've ever dealt with. The Electronic Arts of homes.

Too bad they dont have a minus rating rate. I had to give them 1 star because I could not go any farther. RAH is corrupt !! I agree with everybodys comments below. They cut all corners when building the house and landscaping your lot. And dont forget the cheapest GE appliances. Cant wait until they breakdown and I will get ** products. ****, they dont even know how to lay sod. 3 margin around each piece is crazy, should be butted up. They say dont worry the gaps will fill in. Obvious mistakes when building the home such as range did not work, dishwater was never turned on, ceiling outlets hanging below drywall, bowed doors, trim cut too short or cracked, I could go on. How can these people honestly say that these are well-built homes. There is no contact info for the builder. The welcome abord booklet they give you at closing is worthless. If I knew what I know now I would have never bought a home that RAH built. Not ever for $1.00. All my complaints have not been answered. No phone call email or even a knock at the door. 10 months at home and still have issues. CRAZY Hate to say this but legal action might wake them up.

1 star is about 2 too many. This is the worst experience Ive ever had with a company. Our home has problems all over and they dont care at all. They have been causing additional dust, dirt, mud, and water problems with the HUGE spoil pile less than 20 feet from our house for 2 years and refuse to do anything about it. They actually designed our driveway with a light pole in the middle making it nearly impossible to back out of our garage. Our kitchen cabinets are coming apart. Our concrete patio is crumbling. There isnt a straight wall in our house. Our basement doors hardly open and close. All of it is within normal limits according to them ad not covered by their crappy warranty. Stay away! Youve been warned (time and time again based on their BBB score).

I would leave a 0 star review but unfortunately thats not an option. I would highly discourage ANYONE thats thinking of going with Richmond American homes. You would think having a new house built that you would have little to no issues. My experience with Richmond American homes was a complete Nightmare. Everything from the build quality of the home, their ******************** and the contractors they send out. I have had multiple issues with the home. After living in the home for 2 months the roof started leaking. I come home to a puddle of water in my living room. Thats just one of the many issues I have had. Richmonds solution was to send out a guy with chalking to patch the leak. Another issue was my driveway soil was not compacted properly and resulted in my driveway staring to sink. Another issue is my main sewer line was not installed correctly an has a 15ft flat spot in it. Richmond warranty tells me that those wont be fixed due to that being land movement. If the soil was properly compacted it would have not moved especially that much movement in under a year. In addition to the the issues with the house having to deal with Richmond American homes warranty department is a complete Nightmare. Specifically warranty **** care specialist *******. She is without a doubt the most unprofessional and unproductive person I have ever had to deal with. It took me several months to just get a contact number for her. I was only given ******** email address and when I would email her about warranty requests and ask her multiple times for a contact number she would deliberately ignore my request and not provide her work contact number. Would only communicate through email and even through email it would take days to get a response. All and all buying a home from Richmond was a HUGE mistake. I wish I would have looked at all there reviews before and never purchased from Richmond American homes.

If I can give 0 stars I would, this company is the worst! I bought my house 9 months ago and it has defects all over. Ive been told multiple times that theyll come and fix it and nothing. I contact them and nobody replies to my emails nor my calls. Youd think since its a new house being built it would be perfect but its been nothing but problems. If you can avoid buying houses from them please do absolute worst!!! I regret working with this company

The contractor used to install our **** unit did a horrible job. You would think purchasing a new home in ******* that the system would last a while. Not the case with ours. *********************** installed the unit and we had problems from the very beginning. From outside to inside in the attic. Each year was something different which should not happen if installed properly. I don't understand why the builder would choose a company that provided less than good installation. After being told our system was out of warranty and finding the warranty we were forced to seek service elsewhere. Being in ******* one of the main selling points should be the **** system not failing. I would see numerous *********************** trucks in the neighborhood while it was still new but now I have seen other companies which means the neighborhood has gotten wise. While Richmond may provide a nice home, it would benefit you to look at the contractors being used. I've already filed a complain for *********************** but they of course were not accountable for their work. I can only imagine that Richmond will blame the installer.

0/10 DON'T RECOMMEND! Run, don't walk from this company and the homes they build! 10 months after we've closed and still have a list of items that haven't been fixed. *************** are useless and rude, like they don't want to make it right and will throw the terms and conditions of your contract in your face. And they don't respond timely, or if ever. Example - we've been able to see our subfloor between the carpet and LVT at our owners suite and identified that as an issue 1 week before closing during our final walk through. After 7 months, it wasn't fixed and we've had several subs out to look at it, all of them blaming the other person. ******** told me we need to take care of the carpet near that area so we don't ruin it for when they fix it. I told them it's been 7 months, I can't not vacuum that area for that long and it wouldn't be an issue if it was done properly the first time. She throws the terms in my face like it's my fault the flooring transition isn't done properly. Fast forward, we're at 10 months and we can still see that gap and now warrant won't respond. I've sent 3+ emails and no response. We're also looking at water seeping out from our shower, which angles towards our flooring. Yet we get no response.Company is an absolute joke and hope at some point they take responsibility for poor workmanship, customer service and just overall lack of value. Our home is not worth what we paid when you look at how they slapped it together. Super frustrating and wish I had looked here before we signed our contract.

Extremely helpful!!! Was considering a move to ************* to be near family. Found a house in the process of being completed and was pleased to find new homes being constructed in the area. However, between You Tube and the BBB we are disappointed to know that it will not be possible to make the move. Have tried to contact the State ************************* to determine why they would not vet contractors looking for permits to construct homes in the area/state. That would, I believe, deter and address the numerous complaints that home buyers and the citizens of ******* are experiencing. Thank you for providing this forum.

Having the same issues as everyone else. Lied to/mislead by sales, promises made and broken but construction, **** passed on to warranty repair, then they don't/can't seem to get things actually addressed. Been waiting for things to get fixed for almost 10 months now. 6 times I've taken off work to wait for people who didn't show and then it's like starting all over to get the work scheduled again. Most of the issues are related to poor workmanship and or a complete lack of concern with having a decent finished product. So much of this aggravation was avoidable. In fact if they would just do what they said they were gonna do and fix the problems I wouldn't be adding yet another complaint and this is the same treatment for every neighbor I speak with. Why isn't this company being investigated and held responsible for this obvious deliberate mode of operation?

No stars for this company. When you buy your 1st home and they drop the ball on multiple things. We have been in our home for 2 years a d it's falling apart. The foundation has a large Crack in our office area downstairs. They came and did a patch job on it. Stay away from Richmond American homes. The customer service ***** to say the least. I will not recommend this company to anyone.
